Just had a week's stay at Balboa, can't recommend this place enough. We were in Apartment 7 on the ground floor, spacious,modern and spotlessly clean, the outdoor area has ocean views. It's location is perfect, a stone's throw from the beach,quiet yet just off the main street with all the bars, restaurants and shops. The managers couldn't have been more helpful, especially as our return flights were cancelled and they accommodated us for an extra 3 nights until our rescheduled flights. Looking forward to another stay soon 🙂

We spent 12 days in Port Douglas at Balboa Holiday Apartments. There are a total of 13 apartments, which was a good size apartment block for us. We were very fortunate to stay in Unit 1, as we felt that is the best location in the complex. It is on the ground floor, close to the swimming pool, has easy access from the road. It is very close to the beach, and the great walkway around the bluff. It is also an easy short walk into the town.The resident managers (Lynette & Andrew) are very helpful, accomodating, and willing to help with any of our questions regarding things to do, places to eat, and tours. They also have fold up chairs, esky’s etc that are available to be used. We would definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed at Balboa Apartments for the 1st time and although it was our 7th trip to PD, of all the apartment complexes we’ve stayed in, Balboa ticked all the boxes. The apartment (no.4) was huge so ideal for a family and all the bedrooms had plenty of room and cupboard space. It certainly wasn’t the most modern apartment but had everything we needed. The huge outdoor terrace was perfect for our 2 year old grandson to play. The apartment is well located to the beach, shops and park. The pool could’ve been a little warmer for us Victorians but the children certainly loved it. Lynette and Andrew are great managers and were quick to help if we needed anything but didn’t interfere with our stay. Little extras like beach chairs and beach toys to borrow were a bonus. Thanks for a great holiday. We’ll be back!

We were very excited to get to Balboa as the location for the property is great. The apartment was really nice though walking up 3 flights of stairs regularly got very annoying when carrying up luggage, groceries, being wet from the pool hoping we didn't slip etc. The woman when we first checked in was very nice and when we checked out she again was very nice though for the rest of our stay (5 nights) we did not see her. The other gentleman who runs the property was quiet rude. Our first trip to the pool he spoke to my 12 year old from the above walkway and told her no hitting the noodles in the pool water (their policy) mind you a smile would have been nice instead of a scowl and we were the only ones in the pool at the time. Also when we were parking out the front which we were advised to do as it was closer to our 3rd story room he stood a few meters away and just scowled at us. When i went to approach him and ask if there was a problem he just walked off. So hence he made us very uncomfortable for our stay and i was constantly making sure our kids made not noise etc. There are a lot of properties in this area which i would definitely choose next time.

Very sorry to receive your negative comments about your stay at Balboa. Yes, we definately would have asked your children not to slap the noodles as it is a most annoying sound for all guests whether or not they are around or in the pool. Certainly cannot imagine Andrew walking away from you if you had spoken to him when parking! When booking through an outside agent rather than direct with the apartments, you cannot choose which floor you would like to be placed. Most apartment buildings do not have lifts and this would have been specified at the time if speaking with us. We always appreciate reviews and are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment on the first floor. The apartment is huge, so much natural light and a large balcony. We could see the beach from the balcony. The apartment came with everything we needed, it was excellent. The location is brilliant, we have two small kids do it was so good to be a quick walk to the beach & shops. Having the free strollers available was such a help too, as well as beach chairs and beach toys. My kids loved the pool. You’ll be so glad you booked here. We will definitely be coming back, and recommending to others.

My daughter and I recently spent a week at Balboa apartments. We had a spacious 2 bedroom/2 bathroom ground floor apartment facing the beach. The apartment had absolutely everything we needed and was spotlessly clean with large, comfortable beds. The Managers, Andrew and Lyn were so helpful with recommendations for tours and transport and the location was perfect with only a short walk to all the shops, cafes, restaurants and beach. I would definitely stay at Balboa again!

We recently stayed in the very spacious ground floor Apt 7. This is an ideal family apartment easily accessible by a large outdoor terrace.
The apartment is across the path from the pool, across the road from the beach, and a few minutes walk away from the main shopping/restaurant strip. It is so close to everything in such peaceful tropical surrounds.
The managers Andrew and Lynette were friendly and informative, and very helpful in organizing our airport transfers.
We couldn’t imagine a better location and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed in apartment 7 which was spacious and well appointed. Located right next to the pool on the ground floor we enjoyed the large front balcony that was private but at the same time allowed us to take in views of the beach. Location is perfect too... lovely and quiet but only a stone’s throw to Macrossan Street where you can walk to the array of cafes, restaurants and boutique shops. Would highly recommend to families or couples.

WE recently stayed at Balboa with our family which included a toddler. We were treated like very important guests. Our apartment was fantastic for a family and all needed things including a cot was supplied. From our very welcome introductions we were looked after by lovely people . Love the fact that any question asked was answered with a wealth of knowledge. Thank you we will return

There are shuttles from cairns but we enjoyed having a car. Its a beautiful drive up to port Douglas, takes about an hour. The car also allowed us to go to local attractions on our own time. Be sure to go to the Wildlife Habitat and have breakfast with the birds! Admission is good for 5 days and breakfast is only 20.00 each - best deal in town! We ate there almost every day of our stay.
There are more places to choose from in the Port Douglas area.
