Booked somewhere a bit closer to the airport for our last night (as opposed to in the esplanade) however I shouldn’t have we should have just stayed in the main part of town. You couldn’t walk to the main part of town from here. Our room had the previous occupants leftover rubbish, a huge cockroach and we were next the gate that you had to use to get in after hours so this banged on and off all night and continually woke us up! It’s also close enough to the airport that planes taking off and landing is very loud. The only positive was that it is walking distance to the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to (Tim Hei Zhong Kong) and the man at reception was friendly. Perhaps our stay would have been better if we weren’t on ground floor near the gate. There would be plenty of options for the same price in the better part of Cairns.…
Room was not made up on arrival, no responsibility taken by owner by manager, excuses and minor apology provided, when complaint made. When complaint was made, owner took no responsibility for the situation, and in fact did nothing to resolve the situation.
The rooms are filthy and dusty. They made us pay more after we locked in the price. And they never refunded our deposit. We sent message but they never replied. Very bad please avoid. Not only us but we saw them make another guest pay more too claiming they had an error and their price was never really locked in. Air conditioner worked but was very dusty and cairns was really a hot place so that was hard. They once claimed after we unpacked we actually got the wrong room but later said it was ok. This made us feel things were very unorganized. Our overall experience was very bad and we wished we had booked a different hotel.
A very nice motel, with lovely staff, I was wanting a nice and quiet environment and i definitely did get that here. The room was nice and big, perfect for myself and my husband, we went for morning strolls on the beach as its very close by and very convenient. Overall I recommend this place, I'll definitely be back later this year!
Most hotels waive refund policy if you can’t make it due to covid border closures and cancelled flights. Hotel would not reimburse even though we couldn’t make it to stay due to covid flight cancellations so I’d suggest elsewhere that are flexible if something out of your control happens.
Stayed a couple of days, 10/12 & 11/12 room 206. With Mum and my son. Nice and clean, cute kitchen, secure and the staff very friendly. Close to city, dining, shopping and esplanade. Would definitely recommend couples & families and I will stay again.
Close to the airport but the toilet had filth all around the area where the toilet meets the floor. The spa bath had mould all around the rim. The bed was comfortable. I will go somewhere else when I visit Cairns next. This motel needs a major upgrade immediately.
I paid to stay here for 5 nights but left after the first night. I asked the manager for a refund for the 4 remaining nights but I was refused. The room had a musty smell, the walls had marks, scuffs and mould on the crevice of the skirting boards. The curtains had black mould on them, the back screen door had a hole in the screen to access the door lock, rubbish over the back fence, cigarette butts in the pot plants and the fans were not properly attached to the ceiling. I would absolutely encourage you to spend $140 a night elsewhere.
Managers and staff at reef palms are lovely and do whatever they can to help you ! The hotel itself is run down ( needs a Reno) but cleanish and value for the price you pay. Gardens , pool area and rooms all need a makeover . Not too far from town and close to the esplanade. If you are on a budget hotel is great , otherwise I would look elsewhere . Stayed here two weeks and all good for the price we paid. Room cleaning is only every 7 days but towels are changed every four. We used Our own cleaning wipes to keep room and bathroom clean . . Overall 6 out of 10 . I think the owners could improve this hotel with little money and lots of elbow grease .
I just needed a nights stay close to the airport for the Red Eye flight out of Cairns to Brisbane. The price was good and the room was clean. For what you pay, I'd stay their again. The room had a slight stale smell about it (possibly older carpets etc); but they were clean. The owners were incredibly friendly and offered to upgrade me; but that wasn't required - for my sleep only night. I'd stay again if it was for 1 night prior to an early flight out.
