My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights, two in an 8 bed dorm and 3 in a private room. Although it is quite noisy because of the nightclub downstairs, we had a really comfortable stay at Gilligan's. Maybe try some ear plugs if it bothers you that much? The rooms are a great price and the hostel is...

We stayed at the Gilligans Backpackers for three days at the end of a long trip trough Australia. There are a lot of possibilities to park a car just around the corner. The Gilligans is a very large modern party-hostel for young people. Maybe I wouldn't stay here if I was old, but for young folks it's awesome. The hostel...

It was a great hostel in the middle of town with a lovely pool but was way too noisy for my liking - even though i had asked for a quite room away from the crowds. The worst thing though was the rudeness of the manager (Amy i think) who i complained to about my room - she was downright...

It's such a shame that Gilligans consistently hire terrible bouncers. Not willing to talk or listen to anyone local or not. It's a shame that the incompetence of certain bouncers can spoil a whole night. A guy with grey hair early 40's needs a definite course in people management. Spoilt the venue for us two nights in a row. I...

The ideal hostel if you're in too partying, drinking and music. Beds are so comfy, wifi is cheap at $2 for 24 hrs but the $4 meal is the best! Perfect for those travelling on a budget and it's pretty decent food. If you can put up with the noise of the constant partying - every night there's an offer...

If you wanna party, this is the best option! There is a great swimming pool with a Dj (in the pool area). There is a fantastic bar with live music and cheap drinks and food. The only one thing I didn't like is the hostel don't have a common aérea. But I recommend this hostel 100%

I really enjoyed my stay at Gilligans. It is centrally located, with clean and comfortable rooms. All staff encountered were friendly and helpful. The facilities are excellent and there is a great buzz/atmosphere about the place.

So i decided to stay here as I heard that this is the hostel de jour of Cairns but I would hardly say that it is and wouldn't stay here again. Here's a breakdown- - It is clean yes but the housekeeping comes into your room quite early and will clean and vacuum even if it's 8am and everyone in...

Regular hostel a lot louder than normal although everyone that decides to stay here knows that prior to arrival. The kitchen is not to bad but birds do fly in through the windows and hangout in the building that was not an issue for me what I did find to be quite awful was the staff it was hands down...
