Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The room was rather small, fairly clean, in the old area of the hotel. No door, only a kind of iron sliding gate, which could not be closed properly, did not make us feel very safe a night. The so-called full breakfast was poor, nothing supplemented, there were barely a few slices of bread and toppings had to be found with a magnifying glass. Staff in the breakfast room was far from friendly. The description 'combined with a relaxing atmosphere and modern luxury, Bay Village is the ideal home away from home, etc. etc.' is not exactly in line with what we found.

Have stayed here 4 times over the past 2 months as it’s close to the airport for early flights (we live 2 hours south of cairns) the 5 stars represent staff friendliness, ease of check in, location to the airport, parking, room size and cleanliness and the amazing restaurant attached. Sure this is not a 5 star resort but around $130-$150 a night depending on the time of year its true value for money. Pool area is always tidy and inviting. The rooms we have stayed in have been clean we cannot complain.

Only stay here if it's your only option left. This place is horrible now. Use to be good. Rock hard beds. Flat old pillows. Dirty. Noisey permanent residents stomping around upstairs. Waste of money. Not family friendly.

Absolutely terrible. Do not recommend. The rooms are filthy. The beds are rock solid and the sheets/pillows are so thin. The main shower was extremely loud and could hear every single foot step up stairs.

Spacious and well appointed room with everything we needed. Friendly and helpful staff. Only point missing was limited car parking which meant we had to park our hire car on the busy street outside. Would stay again and recommend to others.

The hotel is situated close to the hospital in a not particularly appealing area of the city and is exposed to quite some traffic noise. To get to the centre it takes a 20 minutes walk along the nice Espalade or a 5 minutes Uber ride. Our appartment was rather dark, had hardly any decoration and the lightening and overall atmosphere was rather unpleasant. When using the eating table it fell out of the wall. The maintenance of the room and the bathroom overall leaves a lot of room for improvement. The WiFi connection in the hotel is very weak. The Balinese restaurant is serving good food. You will probably find a better place to stay in Cairns.

Staff very friendly, but: - Ventilation in bathrooms NOT working, no windows (imagine that with 4 adults in the appartement...) - one bathroom had no hot water, needed to be fixed first - Wifi (supposed to be complimentary) NOT working - foam comes out of bathroom drain after every shower. For the asked price just not acceptable. After complaining staff offered a breakfast (also poor quality) and promised to take care of the problems. Nothing happened over our 5 night stay. (Except hot water, that was fixed) Just dissapointing, never again!

Spacious but room has cockroaches and ants. Was told it's common in Cairns to see these insects running around. Can't imagine how it's like in summer. Bathroom is a bit old. Convenient location and walking distance to city.

This is a clean friendly hotel which is accurate in description and delivers what is promised for the price. The staff were friendly and I’d stay here again. It’s directly opposite the Cairns Hospital, east walking to town and surrounds. There isn’t a lift but I’m sure if that’s a problem they will allocate the lower level. Restaurant onsite is nice too.

The internet does not work and you are expected to wash your dishes. It was mostly clean but the outside of the refrigerator was disgusting. There are no outlets for charging devices or using the electric kettle. The location is accessible but not great.
