Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On entering reception area I thought this will be nice however when we entered our upgraded suite I was disheartened and underwhelmed.
It was back to the 1970s decor and a very tired looking room.
We were ground level, right next to the restaurant and also the pool area and I thought ‘yep’ we’ve struck the jackpot for noise disturbance.
I was WRONG- no noise and the 5 nights we there we slept well with no disturbance.
The staff are exceptional- so gracious and helpful and would go that extra step to accommodate our needs.
Two days we had scheduled tours which required 7am leave and the wonderful morning chef Dashi had our fruit platter, muffins and juice ready for us at 6.30am.
The cleanliness of the rooms and resort as a whole is a credit to the cleaners and management.
In this competitive state for experienced staff management has obviously the right formula in place - kudos to them.
Every staff member I saw or spoke to was polite, cheerful and engaging.
I noted some rooms had been refurbished and I tend to think this process will continue once tourism is up and going again.

Locality is excellent, walking distance to CBD and the esplanade.

Internet service off and on when in rooms however in reception area it is fine

Would revisit and recommend.

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The bed was fine. The outlook into the garden very pretty. The Balinese restaurant attached served the best Balinese food I've eaten outside of Bali. Completely authentic. The staff in the restaurant, at reception etc were great and the continental breakfasts the best I've ever had. Thank you Darshi! The staff throughout were engaged, helpful, courteous. The location of Bay Village is very good - just a few minutes walk from the northern end of the Esplanade and boardwalk. I enjoyed my stay, will go again, and would recommend it to friends.

The room was a standard motel room with all the standard furnishings. There is a small pool area with limited sun lounges and a couple of areas with tables and chairs Service was very good and friendly. We thought it was reasonable value for the location and facilities

Had five nights at the Bay Village Tropical Retreat whilst spending fun filled days sampling some of the best activities Cairns has to offer. The room was a studio suite which was very clean and comfortable with daily servicing. We just had continental breakfasts which were very nice but full breakfast was available at additional cost. The balinese in house restaurant was very popular every night and served high quality cuisine. The hotel service was excellent with very friendly and helpful staff. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cairns and intend to return for further stays in the future.

Have stayed here 4 times over the past 2 months as it’s close to the airport for early flights (we live 2 hours south of cairns) the 5 stars represent staff friendliness, ease of check in, location to the airport, parking, room size and cleanliness and the amazing restaurant attached. Sure this is not a 5 star resort but around $130-$150 a night depending on the time of year its true value for money. Pool area is always tidy and inviting. The rooms we have stayed in have been clean we cannot complain.

Generally speaking, the hotel is getting old and the climate does the rest. The reception was good, we could store our luggage. Only later did we learn that the hotel was quite empty and from the experience was always cleaned with us around 08:30 - 09:00. We were lucky and were able to park on the premises, pretty much right under our room. The area is quite quiet, despite upstream road. The rooms are quite large, have plenty of storage space as well as a medium to large fridge, air conditioning and a fan above the foot of the bed. This is very pleasant, you can run the air conditioning on eco and 26° and the fan spreads the cold over the whole area. The pool is small and can only be accessed by stairs from one side. It has room for 2 loungers and a table with 3 chairs. Further lying possibilities are 1 floor above. Towels and sunscreen are available free of charge, but the anti-insect spray was empty during the whole 5 days.
Unfortunately, here comes what must not be.
According to HP, if you stay more than 3 nights you get breakfast for free. This is a fine move, but if you stand in front of it we were taught that we only have continental??? Continental breakfast consists of my experience of Ham&Eggs, red beans in tomato sauce, sausages etc. This was all for only a part of the hotel guests. We were advised that we may only eat 2 types of jam, one type of cheese, ragged toasted bread and cereal with fruit. Here you stand and feel like guest 2. Great and that because of 2 eggs and 50g of bacon per day....How it says, a good day starts at breakfast - definitely not here!!!! I think the management is concerned with such rules, but they don't seem to be thought out to the end. We have categorically excluded the in-house restaurant. Slightly too short - by management. On my question and the description as 2. Great guest I was brought a smile that said quite a lot...
I would never visit this hotel again even if everything else was fine.

Enjoyed a 5 day break here. The rooms are a slightly older style but very spacious, clean and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. The aircon quiet. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the Balinese themed restaurant served excellent food again with the very best service ( worth booking especially Fri, Sat and Sunday)It is great value for money.

When we arrived we were greeted with a smile and throughout the whole stay all the staff were lovely and attentive.
The room: Look it wasn’t the best, very outdated and not what I was expecting after seeing numerous photos. The shower and the water temp was very hard to get a just right temp, continuing to struggle even on our last day. Despite being right next to the restaurant and the pool there wasn’t a lot of noise which was a welcomed plus.
The restaurant: As part of our deal we had complimentary continental breakfast included. Now you’d think if a place advertises 7 day a week breakfast it would be 7 days. No this wasn’t the case. Being told they go day by day as to how many guests if they run. This was a bit of a let down especially coming to the last day and looking forward to a proper hot breakfast - we got room service instead with our continental makings. I feel this is something that needs to be communicated clearly to guests, especially those who are doing tours and would still like to get a bit of food in before their big day out.
In saying this though Dashi was very accommodating and was there at 6:30 when we had tours ready to serve us breakfast; remembering the fruit, muffins and what juice we like.
Location: this place was reasonably close to the promenade and I’m guessing the cbd. When I say reasonably I mean look at about a 1-2km walk. But very picturesque with the marina to look at. We were also opposite the hospital and not far from the private hospital.
Overall: look it was nice, did the job for our 5 night stay.. I’d come back for the staff but for the resort it self I’d probably search around.

I stayed here twice in June. The reason for my trip was to visit a family member at the hospital, just across the road. The place is CLEAN and housekeeping do an amazing job, beside that everything else is inconsistent. Some front office staff are lovely and helpful but some didn’t seem to know much about the place. The on site restaurant is amazing. Lights outside each room kept me awake at night. First stay I was room 129- twins beds. Nice, clean room. Second stay I was put in 331 but asked to change as I didn’t feel safe after the reception person had told me I can only have one key due to the fact the previous person had taken the key. I was moved to 138 and that was a lot nicer room plus I felt safe. The pool was cool, but refreshing. Pool towels provided. Excellent location for the hospital.

From the intial phone call to make the reservation right through to our check-out every staff member we came in contact with was courteous, friendly, flexible and extremely helpful.
We stayed 7 nights and whilst our room was a little '"dated" everything worked and it was exceptionally clean.
The Resturant food was authentic Indonesian and the continental breakfast was exceptional.
Thanks for a great stay at a difficult time for us !

Dear Silvana, unfortunately there is no shallow part for kids, but we are only a 5min walk away from Muddys Playground on the Esplanade, which is great fun for kids. Best regards Sonja
