Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On the first night we discovered the TV in our room had a smashed screen and the bed was so old you could feel every spring. Second night we were moved to another room, TV worked but there was no internet so you couldn't access any of the apps on the smart TV, free to air only. Morning of day 4 we went to make breakfast at 7.45am and couldn't access the guest kitchen (which ic in the pool area) as the pool gates were still locked. The guest kitchen has next to no equipment for cooking anyway, 1 spatula, no tongs, no knives, 1 usable small frypan, an electric frypan that doesn't work, a toaster, microwave and kettle. The sign on the back of our room door says no food in the rooms, but if there are no facilities to cook or keep food outside of it, then you can't comply. The bed in the second room was more comfortable and the rooms were clean. The shared toilets were clean, but the shared showers need some serious attention on the mouldy grout. Very run down place, the a/c and ceiling fan worked, the fridge, kettle, microwave and TV worked. Pool was great, hot tub worked, but the rest of the facilities were either non-existent or in terrible disrepair. This resort really needs some money invested in repairs and replacing items used by the guests. The photos on the website were obviously taken years ago when this would have been a lovely resort with a bar and Cafe which are now closed indefinitely. Trip typeHoliday · Couple Rooms1.0Service1.0Location1.0 SafetyAt 1.30am a guest in another room had stolen the fire extinguisher from the foyer and it exploded in his room. Dry powder was spread from the room, to the hallway, toilets and under other doors. The fire alarm and evacuation notice sounded at 1.50am, while standing in the evacuation area with the other guests at 2am, the culprit was nowhere to be seen and the night caretaker didn't even do a head count of guests or check that everyone was out! What if there had been a fire? That was Wednesday night, it is now Friday morning and the extinguisher has not yet been replaced, so there is nothing to use on the ground floor if a fire started.

Management are rude to the point of Toxic. Best described as backpacker accommodation not resort. Share toilet and shower Free WiFi that doesn’t work Towels appear to be over a decade old Not maintained at all, I found cockroaches in the room 😳 I have stayed at many hotels all over the world, but I have never found one as bad as this. Which includes a US$1.25 p/n I stayed at in Vietnam 🇻🇳 No cleaning conducted over my 4 day stay. Best thing I can say is “Buyer Beware” It’s embarrassing really

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. Horrendously rude staff. I got told off in a completely uncalled for way when I called the after hours line after there was a kid screaming from the room directly next door for hours on end (since we checked in at 4 until after midnight). We could have simply switched rooms. Worse, the door lock was BROKEN. Also: -Food was banned but we booked a room with a fridge/microwave and utensils were provided in room. -Alcohol was prohibited in rooms and would be taken away/confiscated if found. We were never made aware of this when booking and seems like a privacy issue as well??? -We needed to strip the bed after our stay and take the linens to the front desk. We were never made aware of this when booking. -The shower just leaked right into the bathroom and flooded it with water and the handles were mislabel so it took forever to figure out -The jacuzzi was super cold - The balcony was covered in bird poop. -Cracked wall outlets. This is a safety issue. -Red splatters on the bathroom walls. Blood? They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and yet never answered my email. I wrote them again two weeks later and again no reply. I still can’t believe I got yelled at. We booked a hotel instead of a hostel specifically for noise purposes as a person who works in voice acting. Terrible choice booking here and would never recommend to anyone.

More like an old country hotel, rundown but workable. The only good thing to say about the room, it was clean. Shared amenities in the same state, very basic cracked and missing tiles, etc. in comparison we found another hotel for the same money, helpful staff, nice room, and private ensuite.

We've stayed a few times pre-Covid. It's close to the airport, cheap compared to other hotels, and is clean, comfortable and secure. TV, free WiFi, mini fridge, tea/coffee, microwave, bowls, cups, plates, cutlery. Friendly lady at reception!

For the price this place offers everything you need. The pool and kitchen area are appealing and a feature of the hotel. The secure car parking is great. The room itself has all the basics and a few extras like hair dryer and ironing board. The hot water and shower are excellent. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. Should you like a walk, the hotel is around a 30 to 40 minute walk to the foreshore lagoon area. Set in a generally quiet area with a few nearby shops and food outlets.

I am on holiday in Australia just now and stayed at the Bohemia for over a week in total. I honestly cannot thank the staff enough for all the help they gave me. I was really happy with the room and all the facilities. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and will be coming back here when I visit Australia again.

My partner and I stayed in a double room with a shared bathroom. The shared bathroom was decently clean, but not pristine either. TV Fridge microwave and AC worked and sink was in room. Bed was really comfy. Cairns is very walkable, so it was like a 30 minute walk to downtown. Great crash pad, safe, and good pool communal space. I would stay again if I needed to crash with my own room.

The only redeeming value in this property is it's pool deck, which is actually somewhat nice, complete with plenty of seating, a nice BBQ, and a good-sized pool. Our ground-floor family room was absolutely gross. The ceiling had water damage and the doors had mold, which had been lightly painted over, but not actually remediated. The bathroom was disgusting, with no separate shower area to contain the water, so shower water went everywhere. The furnishings appeared to have been acquired second hand as they were all mis-matched. The window/wall air conditioner units, which seemed to be at least 25 years old based on their filthy and poor condition, were missing knobs and buttons. The hot water kettle in our room didn't work, and the kitchen area was dirty. Additionally, this property is located directly across the street from a large homeless shelter. I would NOT recommend staying here unless the rooms undergo full renovations and the management commits to better upkeep.
