However, our particular room is in need of maintenance. The door lock is only home style and you need to remember to push the lock in. The kitchen equipment was not clean. There is a sign saying you will be charged $10 if you don't was dishes. Our room had an overwhelming odor of cleaning chemicals. The room is only cleaned every 6 days and towels replaced every 3 days..
There are no lifts so you need to lug the bags upstairs. Ask for ground floor if stairs are an issue.
Wifi was patchy even if you stood under the router. But patchy wifi is common in cairns. I stay in cairns often and still can't find accommodation with wifi that is good enough for work purposes.
Overall this place is ok if you decide to overlook some discomfort but I do not think they can justify the room rate. There are better facilities for the same price nearby. Having said that, some travelers need to stay where they feel love and companionship and support - if that is the case, stay here. I can imagine that if you came to Cairns for health treatment, this place would be ok.
When we were advised not to walk on certain streets at night, we relocated! My advice ?.....don't bother.
The female manager named Suzie is exceedingly rude. She never care about the costomer’s feeling, only interested in arrange activities for the guests and get commissions. Every time we talk to her, she always show us an impatient attitude. Her tone and manner made us very uncomfortable. She is a nightmare. Don’t expect her give you a hand when you need any kind of help unless you book activies via her. Whenever we come to the reception, her face looks like someone owns her money.
Besides Suzie, the room is also terrible (but not as sucks as Suzie). No toothbrushes, no slippers, and no housekeeping. The shower temperature controller is useless and annoying, just like Suzie. Besides, you need wash and dry all the dishes before you checkout, or you will be charged.
The worst hotel I have ever experienced. And the worst people I have ever met. I won’t spent one more cent on this “hotel”.
The whole place is very dated and could do with refurbishment. Old style bath, old tapware. Did not feel clean.
On the plus side - Beds were firm and the shower pressure good.
No lifts, though did offer help with the bags.
The couple at reception were okay if rather terse. Not too happy with us having pre-booked our day trips.
Wouldn't stay there again.
