 · The property itself was good, big rooms with BBQ communal area. Lots of pamphlets from local tours and sites to see. Lyn was also helpful with some sites to see around Cairns which was a great. Dishwasher didn’t work nor did the oven. The pool was beautiful but it wasn’t heated so too cold to swim in. Overall the apartments were good.  · The manager Will didn’t like that I booked through bookings.com and 5 months after booking tried to increase my rate. I contacted bookings.com customer service and after being contacted by them Will agreed to honour it but not without messaging me multiple times trying to bully and intimidate me into either paying more or cancelling my booking and also going on and on about not booking through booking sites. Even after my stay I still received messages saying I shouldn’t have had the rate I did and asking me not to leave a bad review. I’ve never ever experienced anything like this in my life, shocking behaviour. Lyn was nice though, it’s a shame Will does not show the same resolve as her.

Booked the room at least 4 months prior. When we arrived, mgr said we DID have a room upstairs but he's instead given us a quiet room downstairs in the corner. We had 6 nights of nightshift workers thumping around above our heads. The final night was bearable. We asked to be shifted but as they were fully booked, the manager asked if I had any sleeping tablets. After very active days, I actually dreaded going to bed at night. My brothers room looked out to the garage, noisy and not what you want to see in the tropics. The floors were filthy too. Very disappointing.

I recently had a stint in Cairns for work, from mid-November 2020 to mid-February 2021. I stayed at City Terraces for the duration and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Both Will & Lyn, who manage the property, were warm and friendly in any dealings I had with them, as well as helpful and informative when it came to assistance/information/ideas about local attractions, tours...etc in Cairns and surrounding areas. Due to various circumstances, I stayed in a total of 3 separate apartments, one of which was a family apartment. I’ve given a rating of 4/5 because of a few fairly minor issues: I had a problem with a somewhat noisy A/C unit in my first apartment (in my opinion A/C is a must in Cairns in summer), but when I informed management, it was soon replaced (an ongoing commitment as and when they need replacing due to significant use, which I think is fair enough); some of the furnishings/decor was somewhat dated, and in the family apartment, the sofa units seemed to be on their last legs (again, I’m certain they cop a beating from the amount of human traffic that use it), but in saying that, it was clear that as and when the need arises and time permits, various apartments or aspects thereof have been renovated (my first apartment had a relatively newish kitchen, but an oldish bathroom, whilst my second apartment had a very dated kitchen but an almost brand new, very modern bathroom). The apartments were roomy enough (ample room in the singles and the family was very spacious). The other bugbear for me personally was kitchen utensils/cutlery/crockery...etc. This is an issue at almost all self-contained apartments I’ve stayed at. Because I was staying for an extended period, I was relying on there being suitable utensils...etc, to enable satisfactory cooking and the like. Each of the units had glass cutting boards (nothing blunts a sharp knife quicker), and as a result there were no sharp knives, some were broken/damaged, incomplete cutlery/crockery sets...etc. I understand that there are always going to be issues with this sort of thing (items break or go missing or are just not looked after by the various people that use it), and I appreciate that many people who will visit Cairns are tourists or otherwise, who are happy to eat out frequently and consequently will not be bothered by what I’ve mentioned, but if you’re enjoying an extended stay, I suggest that more ‘home cooking’ will be the order of the day, and the issues I’ve mentioned may get a bit frustrating. Having said all that, Cairns Central (a major shopping centre), is a short walk away, and I grabbed a few items from the department stores to ensure a better experience for myself. I left any items I bought behind for subsequent users of the apartments, which I’m sure will be helpful, and I didn’t mind doing so. The shared ammenities are fantastic, with undercover parking for those with their own vehicles, a coin operated laundry, and a fabulous pool and BBQ area (I used the BBQ a few times & the pool almost every day...fantastic!). Lastly, City Terraces location is in my opinion perfect....very close to the heart of the city, close to major shopping, a short stroll to the Cairns Esplanade and associated‘tourist precinct’, and in my case, close to work (Cairns Base hospital...a 10 minute walk). Overall all, I really enjoyed my stay, with the minor issues highlighted above only really being noticeable with lengthy stays. I suppose the pertinent question as to how I really feel about City Terraces from a review standpoint is would I stay there again, to which I would answer unequivocally absolutely! I hope this review helps.

We stayed at City Terraces for 3 nights in December. The staff were very accomodating and the room was large and clean. The hotel is very central to everything you need and has undercover parking. We loved the pool area! A very pleasant visit.

Lyn and William go the extra mile to provide their guests with friendly, professional, eco friendly and personalized service. The apartments are clean, well appointed and quiet. The pool is superb and the tropical gardens are gorgeous. The location is very convenient to everything. I strongly recommend City Terraces to anyone staying in Cairns for business or holidays.
