Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The room was clean and tidy, with the option for daily room service for replenishment of bath towels and rubbish removal. It was self contained with a good size refrigerator, microwave and stove top. Entry to the building and room was keyless entry, using a card. Unfortunately, the hotel was not located in the main tourist area and was a thirty minute walk or thereabouts to the Esplanade and restaurant strip.

There are some features which make this place very good and others which make it not so good. We booked the standard double rooms so I can only speak for those.
Okay: The rooms/furniture is not that good looking although its pretty clean. The complimentary breakfast is pretty basic (bread, cereal, juice) and I was surprised there is no option for fruits.

Great: The location is amazing (right in the city of Cairns) so you have easy access to the best restaurants, car rentals, airport, reef tours, and pretty much everything you could want.

Having booked through Booking.com, for one of our employees, I then wanted to pay in advance for his two x 4 night stays. The confirmation from Booking.com advised that "The final price shown is the amount you'll pay to the property". These amount were $633 & $624 respectively. When I paid at the property the amounts were $645.66 and $636.48 respectively. When I went back to query this the front desk advised that it was the CC surcharge of $12.66 and $12.48 (respectively) So.....should Booking.com not advise the above, because the additional charge is required, or is the hotel overcharging?? Either way I'm out of pocket $25.14.

The photos provided by the operators are extremely deceptive. The accomodation is old and run down. The shower tiles were painted at some stage, and it is now peeling off both the floor and the walls.

The “updated” vanity basin and tap are poorly sizes and you are unable to fully wash your face due to the shape and size of the basin with a shorter necked faucet . There is no complete enclosure for water in the shower resulting in you flooding the bathroom each time you shower- we ended up using the common showers in the passageway to attempt keep our room dry.

The toilet paper is only single ply so bring your own if you decide to stay here !! Our towels and sheets had stains on them and the pillows are flat and lumpy.

I wouldn’t swim in the pool unless you’ve had your latest tetanus shots. We were followed back to the accommodation by a slightly hostile homeless person one night which was slightly unnerving for our teenage daughters.

The nicest part of this accommodation is the outdoor BBQ area. The breakfast provided smelt ok, but we decided to eat at the cafe at the marina each day as we were heading out to the reef and islands anyways.

We decided to stay here and save money as generally we are out during the day and only need a comfortable bed and a clean shower- next time we will be going back to our regular accommodation closer to the Esplanade. I

I recently visited Cairns Queen Court on my honeymoon with my husband, firstly the size and lighting of the rooms as compared to the pictures is very different and pictures are deceptive. The room we opted for compact, poor lighting, stained bedsheets and torn curtains. On bringing this to the light of receptionist, she not only did not acknowledge the hotel’s fault but she was also not courteous enough to apologise for the same. A room upgrade was given to us at a discounted price after we decided to take the matter up with the owner. The owner also did not apologise for the poor experience that we went through.

Self Check in, staff member was cheerful enough.
At 70, having had 3 heart attacks and waiting on 2 knee and 2 hip replacements, having 2 suitcases and no lift we were given our booked QUEEN bedroom, which ended up on the second level, we called down to reception to ask if we could please have a room on a lower level as we were having to come back down as we were catching up with our grandsons for dinner.
We were given a DOUBLE bedroom not what we had booked on the 1st level.
Please see Pics.
Breakfast was good minus all the sugar ants.
A shame the rooms have gone downhill.
The fridge needed to be thrown to the tip.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I would describe it as a cheap motel. The pics on their website and different platforms are very deceiving, it's a very run down place, located on the wrong side of the city, good 20 mins walk from a touristie part. The cleanness is pretty average, the aircon is tooo noisy, I could barely sleep as we had to keep it on due to a very hot weather. The fridge was super rusty and leaking. Wouldn't stay there again it's for sure.

Booked through Agoda, but was worried about the cancellation options, so hotel said to book direct with them for same price for same room
When I got there and went to the room, there was NO balcony/ terrace as advertised, no microwave, just a small room with 2 single beds pushed together and a bathroom..supposed to have free wifi in all rooms, the whole week I was there, I couldn’t get wifi in the room.
I went and spoke to reception, and was told that Agoda advertise the wrong room, and tried to blame the weather on the wifi not working..
It rained all week, whilst I was there, so never got to do any tours, and because I had the air con on most of the time, because of the humidity, I’ve returned home with a massive head cold, I paid night for a dogs box, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

This hotel was complete sh*t. The rooms were dirty, the beds had stains on them and the staff were completely rude. The website says this place is “modern” when it looks like it came straight out of the 80’s. The staff were also very loud outside our room. I would NEVER stay here again. Do not recommend.

Excellent welcome on arrival: I was early and was able to leave luggage until a later check-in. Reception staff warm and welcoming and helpful, providing info on where to go for a meal etc, and also providing crockery etc for my take-away meal. Room (C111) had microwave and refrigerator and coffee / tea making facilities. Bathroom has excellent shower and there is a small balcony off the bedroom area. A small desk is at hand but I had to move a bedside light to get enough light to work at the desk. Fan and a/c both OK. The property is about 15 minutes' walk from Cairns Central - and railway station. Complimentary continental breakfasts are offered.

If you would like to hire a cot it is $10. If you have your own (or you use existing bedding) then there is no charge.

Hi Pauline - only our studios have a kitchenette. These rooms have a balcony or patio where you can smoke as long as the glass door is closed. Please advise us if you would prefer a ground floor room as you have back problems. For the best price please call us direct on 07 4051 7722.
