Enjoyed my stay at Rydges. My room was on the top floor, facing the city and mountains. Great Views. Spacious, clean room. modern style. Good A/C, TV , fridge . Clean bathroom. No complaints. Check in staff were friendly , and efficient. Hotel is walking distance to several restaurants ( including a sushi train ) and a small supermarket. A 15 minute walk to Cairns central. Taxi from the airport was $20. Only thing i didnt like was my room service breakfast, which was served , Covid style, in a cardboard box. I prefer mine on a plate please. But, overall, Rydges gave me a very pleasant stay.

Hotel's Favourite
Everything was great, from checking in to the clean rooms, the meals. The young man in the restaurant Kai may be his name was fantastic, it was very busy on the Saturday night, he took orders, delivered meals and drinks and was never flustered. I would say a great employee.

Resort feel, I like large hotels and this one was above expectations. (mind you my expectation were low because Cairns has a dated and low investment feel about it, just as Brisbane had 15 years ago) My room was lovely, the bathroom a little old but in good order. The spacious room had new furniture and a heavenly bed. A TV that refuses to die. 120 dog years old. Great views occasional interrupted by a plane sailing past. A little too far from town, however a nice walk along the water.

I stayed a night at this hotel during my Cairns short business visit.First of all service. It was very friendly , helpful and professional. Second is view. From room balcony it was amazing-rain forest mounts and sea at same time. Regarding hotel. It is nice lobby, corridors, however room in my opinion has to be updated. It is clean but very ordinary and corrosion started on the metal parts in bathroom. Restaurant where breakfast is provided in my opinion also has to be updated- interior design, service level and also menu.

Room size was great but the overall place is very old and run down. Major maintenance required. The pool is quite nice. Do not get the overly priced buffet breakfast. Cold food , dirty tables , no coffee. For $34 per head , it was a waste. Location is ok , about 1 km to the lagoon pool. Will not stay here again

This place is old no atmosphere no ambiance. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! The pictures are obviously taken when it first opened some 15 years ago. Towels are falling about so thin. Showers are mouldy super small and water is cold. Beds are old and uncomfortable. No outside furniture on veranda. Pool is dirty and unkept there where bandaids floating. In the 7 nights we stayed I saw no cleaning or maintenance. The deck is old dirty and chipped with white plastic furniture you burn on and slide out of. Drinks at the pool don’t bother they are served in plastic throw away beer cups even the wine no plastic pool glasses here. The foyer is dirty and underwhelming when you arrive. Restaurant has limited boring food. At $5.50 for a coffee you’d be hoping it would be drinkable… don’t waste your money there isn’t a barista in sight. We left every day to get out of here as there is nothing nice about this place costing us more money. Over all this place would be pushing to get a 2 star. Look else where DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

The staff are lovely and friendly - our room was good with two large comfortable beds and a great view. The shower was over the bath which makes it difficult for many people. The restaurant was very dull with brown curtains, carpet and chairs. The bar area was poor with dining tables, stools at the bar and two small settees and a chair. No tables and chairs around the pool although room and the foyer was very bare with some backless seating. I did find a area upstairs (on our last night) to sit on the balcony but it was not nicely done up. All in all the hotel was lacking in any charm

Room worked well for travelling with a baby with cot included and a bath tub for washing the baby. A great spot on the Esplanade for pushing the pram and going to the markets. Close walk to a lot of places to eat. Bathroom outdated (has a shower curtain), but did the job. Overall a good stay.

Overall a nice experience. They were late in having our room ready for check in which left us hanging around for too long. I will say I was a little disappointed with the room but the view of the Coral Sea helped to placate my concerns. The reception staff were all very friendly and the facilities were great. We had one meal at the restaurant and it was very nice. I would recommend Rydges Esplanade and will most likely stay again.
