Nestled in a prime location, Pullman Cairns International captivates many travelers with its charming vintage vibe and scenic proximity to city hotspots. While renovated rooms receive applause for their style and comfort, guests have called out the less updated rooms for lacking. The hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness generally earn positive marks, though some cleanliness oversights have been mentioned.
Opinions on service vary, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasting reports of occasional sluggishness. Despite the allure of its location and amenities, some reviewers warn the value proposition is diminished by overpriced features and restricted pool access.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the esplanade, casino & restaurants
We were on the 10th floor with a beautiful view towards the city & mountain ranges
Beds are comfortable even if they are only a double!!
Bathroom was excellent with awesome water pressure & plenty of hot water
Breakfast was included but we chose to eat elsewhere after the 1st morning. Breakfast was tasteless, cold, very unorganised as the staff had to serve due to covid rules.
If we wanted an omelette we had to pay $5 extra & also had to pay extra for more tyhan 1 cup of coffee/tea each!!!

We recently spent four nights at the Pullman, and were pleased to be given a complementary upgrade to a premium room. Our room was awesome and the balcony overlooked the harbour and we saw oceans liners docking and departing so close by. The $1 Spring break breakfast was amazing with so many food choices to fill one up for the day. The food catered to the many nationalities visiting Cairns. We chose valet parking for $22 per day which suited us. We were treated so well by the staff at front desk and appreciated their big smiling faces. The only downers for us were the lack of a frezzer section of the bar fridge for my ice pack and some complementary biscuits to go with a cuppa. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Cairns.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I stayed at this hotel for two nights, the lobby area is very nice and the hotel is close to the city area.
The hotel rooms and hallways are showing their age and the room had a musty smell.
The most notable problem was the doors and surrounds had dirty marks on them which gave the appearance of the place being dirty.
A cleaning team could go through the place and resolve this quickly and inexpensively

Stayed here last night. Returned guest. Am an AccorPlus member, costing over $300 pa for membership. Waste of money at this hotel.
Despite the significant Covid-19 related drop in tourism numbers we were put in a room directly opposite the lifts, facing the entrance to the Casino across the road.
With publicity about intermittent problems in Cairns with tap water, and warnings to boil before drinking, there was no complimentary bottled water in the room. In fact, there was no mini bar in the room, and hence no water able to be purchased.
The glasses in the room felt sticky and unclean - not a reassuring sign of room hygiene and cleanliness at the start of a world viral pandemic, in one of Cairns’ major 5 star tourist hotels. Pullman Accor hotel chain.
With regional weather related flight delays we did not arrive at the hotel till about 9pm. Going immediately downstairs after check in, the lobby was deserted and we discovered that the hotel restaurant was closed (no tourists/guests?) even though it was Friday night.
Luckily the Tamarind Restaurant at the Pullman Reef across the road was open and busy, and we had a lovely meal there.
Getting to sleep back in the room was very difficult with loud music coming from across the road at the Casino.
This morning we were woken early by loud lift traffic, people talking outside our door waiting for the lift, plus lift noise, and also noise through the door from the interconnecting room.
If you want anything more than pretty basic room amenities, and if you want a good night’s sleep, would not recommend this hotel. Certainly not a five star property.

Hi Doc_au Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay with us, I am sorry it was a disappointing experience. Please accept my apologies that the room you were allocated was noisy and subsequently you were unable to rest and relax during your time with us. Rest assured we do try our best to allocate our guests in quiet rooms, however some external noise such a s the casino is beyond our control. I am also sorry that you were not offered complimentary bottled water for your stay, however I can assure that the water in the Cairns region is perfectly safe to drink, and there has been no alerts to boil the water issued in our region. The only region which currently has an alert issued is the Tully shire which is 140km south of Cairns. This being said water can be purchased either from our Lobby Bar or by dialling room service from your room. I am sorry this was not explained to you. I am also sorry that the glasses in your room were not clean, I will address this with our Housekeeping Manager, as it is not indicative of our usual cleaning standards. Lastly I am sorry that our restaurant was not open during your stay, we have reduced operating hours to our Food and Beverage outlets in the last few months, simply due to the downturn in business and a lack of sufficient guest patronage. This being said we do review this regularly, and your comments will be shared with our management team. Thank you once again for your comments, we do hope you will return again and stay with us so we can provide you with an exceptional experience. Kind Regards Leissa Prouchandy Guest Experience and Loyalty Manager

We traveled through Australia and from all our stays this was by far the worst and I would not book this hotel again. I'm giving two stars instead of one only because my communication with the reservations team before our visit has been excellent. Our stay however was poor. I had requested for an early check in way in advance as we came from a 21 hour journey, however check-in was not available when we arrived around 1pm. The lady gave me the option that I could "upgrade" the room to a Premium room (for of course a premium payment each night) - given that we were traveling with our daughter and were tired, I agreed to pay. The upgraded room was in the highest floor and had a coffee machine, however, room was really old, not in a good condition and there was a huge water damage in the corridor. Pool area looked ok, but upon closer look the floor surface of the pool actually had some gaps which I would consider not really safe. Our negative highlight however was when one night there was a party on or near the pool deck so the music was soo loud the whole evening. We woke up quite frustrated, the music stopped around 11pm but then started back 10 minutes later. I addressed this to an automated feedback system that they have in place when logging in to the WIFI and got an initial answer back from an hotel employee to question why I would have experienced any noise (really?!), however, when we checked out the agent did not even bother to ask if we had a good stay. Not at all! Sometimes you go to hotels where the associate asks but doesn't seem to care, but here they don't even ask... really poor... I actually send an email to the associate who replied back to my noise comment, but did get neither an answer from him nor from the other person in the hotel I forwarded my email to. So I can only recommend to stay away from this hotel based on my experience!

Hi Andreas, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on your stay with us, I am sorry that it did not meet your expectation. We do our best to accommodate early arrivals, however if we do not have the room type you have booked available prior to the designated check in time our Front Desk team do offer the option of upgrading to a different room category for an additional fee. Our rooms are quite dated, and this is not something which we shy away from, however as you will see from many past reviews they are cleaned immaculately by our dedicated housekeeping team. In December we did have some significant water damage to the corridors of one our premium floors, whilst this did not damage any of the rooms, it did cause some damage to areas of the corridor, but was fixed promptly once the leak was located and repaired. With regards to the noise from our pool deck, our records indicate that there wasn't any functions on our pool deck on the night which you complained, and our Night Manager at the time did investigate to see if he could find the source of the noise. A subsequent email was sent to you apologising for any disturbance and to contact the front desk should any further noise be experienced. I am sorry if you felt this was not an adequate response to your complaint and I will follow up with our Night team and share your feedback with them. Thank you once again for taking the time to review our hotel, once again I am sorry that your experience was not an enjoyable one, and we do hope that you will consider returning again in the future so we can provided you with a better experience than your previous. Kind Regards, Leissa Prouchandy Guest Experience and Loyalty Manager

The lobby is beautiful - entrance is grand. BUt that's it.
The rooms were a mess - dirty carpets, paint coming off the celiing, holes in the ceiling.
low quality balcony furnituture
the extra money we paid for nice harbour views were 'ok' considering the location of the hotel
on the accor website - for a harbour view room, a coffee machine was included in the harbour rooms, but the staff said 'no' this was only in the highest end rooms
recommend shangri la if you want nice hotel, or somewhere more value for money

Nice hotel but it definitely needs some touches - we stayed on one of the premium floors - carpet in the hallways was ruined, wallpaper peeling off, walls were dirty, beds were extremely uncomfortable.
The best part of the room was the view.
The breakfast options were extremely limited, and for a long stay having every day the same very few options on the menu is not good enough. The kids breakfast wasn't even enough to fill up a 3yo.
No bathrobes in the room, we had to ask for every small thing which you would expect to be already available.
The pool area had mold in various areas, damaged tiles - definitely ready for a reno.
It's a convenient location, however it's still a decent walk to the esplanade
We have tried it, but we would not be booking our next stay there for sure.

Dear SilvAngelica, Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts following your recent stay with us - we sincerely appreciate the feedback. I am sorry that your stay has not completely met expectations. I have noted your comments with regards to breakfast and have shared these with our Executive Chef Dave. As part of our COVID Safe Plan items such as bathrobes, extra pillows, blankets etc have been removed from our guest rooms and are available on request. I can appreciate that it is frustrating to have to continually call to request items and I do apologise for this, however our priority is to ensure we are following the current health guidelines which have been designed to keep our guests safe. We are currently working with our key stakeholders on our refurbishment plan and I have shared your comments with them. Thank you again for the review and wishing you and the family all the best for the upcoming fesrive season! Best wishes, Monique

5 star hotel with 2-3 star room (king suite 12th floor). I was in two minds about whether I should write a review but establishments can't make changes if guests don't speak up
Foyer has a lovely colonial looks and feel to it which is what my partner had seen on his last trip to Cairns when a tour bus dropped off guests and is what made him want to stay there.....
Was very disappointed when we entered our room from the dated decor to the loud air con, which didn't work every well. Mold in the wardrobe, stained bath mat in the bathroom, rotten wood panel from water damage, shower head kept sliding down and when you turned it off it would fall and hit you, (but I will add that this was fixed when we advised the front desk staff) dust on the tissue box (yes I know small issue but we are talking about a 5 star hotel with 5 star prices and the room had been occupied the night before so no excuses). Ripped carpet to the entrance of the elevators on the 12th floor, a trip hazard for women in heels !! paper thin walls, we could hear the man in the next room eating his dinner. The one morning we wanted to sleep in we were awoken by room service cleaning two (2) rooms down the hall banging and crashing at 7am ......Cairns was lovely and look forward to returning next year but not to the Pullman. Will research the Accor family of hotels before booking. What makes this hotel is the staff that we had come in contact with (front desk and Manny (bar staff) well done to them.

We stayed at this hotel on a tour company package and couldn't have been happier with our room and the service at the hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable and the balcony was fantastic - early morning cuppas (in sunglasses due to brightness of the sun) and very comfortable end of day wines watching the cruise boats coming back from their day trips. The room was made up daily and cups and glasses replaced and milk, sugar etc refilled. The view was beautiful from our room on the fifteenth floor. We stayed in a King Harbour View room and would recommend a room like this every time. The hotel was looking a little dated in places, especially the carpet in the corridor outside our room but renovations/refurbishments are under way so I guess in time all will be fixed. The eye boggling 'old style' grand lobby of this hotel is worth a visit just for itself. Lovely staff, good meals, all in all a really pleasant experience. We had five nights and were sorry we hadn't booked a couple more. The only glitch for me was my phone could not scan the QR code to see the menu. It shouldn't be that hard to provide a written menu in the room. I'm assuming because of covid they are only doing sit down dinner in the dining room on Friday and Saturday nights but you can get room service.Dining room is open for breakfast daily. Apparently they do a really good high tea too but our timing didn't match the designated days. The hotel is only a short walk from the harbour esplanade and the cruise wharves and lots of cafes/restaurants close by. The casino is across the road if you're that way inclined. Happily recommend a stay here.

Had a lovely stay at Pullman International Hotel in Cairns. Very close walking proximity to Marina area and restaurants. Rooms are quite outdated and definitely need a refurbishment to maintain the 5 star rating and price. Pool area needs some attention. Pool very cold at this time of year with no heating, one spa was heated. Pool towels very old and scrappy. Limited menu and staffing due to COVID19. We booked for breakfast and waited over 30 mins to be offered any coffee/tea or menus. Breakfast orders were not correct on arrival and many items missing from order. Waitress forgot coffee and juice to our table. Our room was missing crockery and had no cutlery provided. Reasonable priced parking at $12 per night, self park. No valet service available during this time.
