Upon my recent sojourn to the Pullman Cairns International, I was immediately transported to a realm where time stood still - specifically, the 1980s. The décor, a masterclass in vintage chic, was so authentic it had me questioning whether I'd stumbled into a time warp. The faux marble, a touch so elegantly tacky it could only be described as avant-garde, was complemented by woodgrain joinery that bore the proud scars of a thousand encounters. It was, in a word, hideous. Yet, it was hideous with a purpose, evoking a nostalgia for an era most were happy to forget. The carpet, a patchwork masterpiece, was held together not by mere threads, but by green duct tape. This ingenious solution not only added to the aesthetic but also provided a thrilling game of 'spot the original carpet pattern'. It was an interactive experience I hadn't anticipated but deeply appreciated. However, the pièce de résistance of this establishment was its ability to capture and bottle the essence of a bygone era's aroma. The wet, stale, musty smell was so overpoweringly authentic that it clung to my clothes with a persistence usually reserved for the scent of a fine perfume. This olfactory souvenir was a constant reminder of my stay, long after I had returned home. The Pullman Cairns International is not merely a hotel; it is a time machine. A journey back to a simpler, if not slightly more questionable, period of interior design. It's a testament to the fact that they don't make them like they used to, and for that, we can be eternally grateful. An experience so uniquely distressing, it borders on impressive. A very authentic reproduction of what can only be described as a seriously cheap hotel. Bravo!

Stayed in Australia for 9 days, tried different hotels but Pullman is the best I had stayed with family, excellent location, spacious room and nice balcony view! Entire team is friendly and eager to assist anytime, lobby has elegant design and it made me feel very comfortable when we arrived . The swimming pool has large jacuzzi , enjoyed the facilities, especially the outdoor pool with warm water temperature is perfect. It’s worth to stay!

Have been visiting this hotel for years was disappointed to see it looking very ordinary the lounge area and bar unattractive cheap looking furniture has completely lost its elegant style the outside of the building is very grubby looking needs a good wash down

I went to the Wizards High Tea at the Pullman Cairns International with my Mum and 4 year old.it was an enjoyable experience with delicious food. Table Service from IERNANDO and others were excellent. My only suggestion is having a child price as they don’t eat as much.

Arrived late in the evening for an overnight stay. Trainee booked me in which took forever - claiming the check-in computer was slow (?) Finally got to the room and noticed there was no complimentary tooth brush available. Called up twice before it arrived (>15min before it arrived and only after the 2nd call). One would expect the Pullman to have these items in your room!! As for the checking out experience, waited at the front desk for > 7min while the front desk team were sitting inside the front office chatting and laughing (with zero interest in their guests). After 7min I called the hotel from my phone to gain some interest and service. Taxi arrived so I finally got someone’s attention and left the room key and departed. Will be making sure they refund my deposit! Stayed in room 604. Overall a terrible stay. There must be better hotels in Cairns! The Pullman CNS International is on holiday mode.

I was a bit hesitant as I had read some very positive and not so positive reviews. So why not go and experience the hotel with my own eyes! Was very pleasantly surprised. Beautiful hotel lobby/foyer, and huge! Very friendly welcome upon (an early) arrival and was extremely grateful that my room was ready and was upgraded. Gorgeous room on the 10th floor, views over the pool and the inlet. Very comfortable bed and lounge area. All staff are very friendly and only too happy to help out. Very well located, easy to walk to and around Cairns, even if is hot and very humid! My only negatives are the exterior and especially the pool needs some work. But a very big pool and pool area to enjoy.

Can highly recommend Coco's kitchen and bar. Their Devonshire teas are first class. The atmosphere is relaxing and their coffees are A1. The staff, Masumi, Ben, Ivy and Fernanda are super efficient and always make us feel welcome. They are an asset to Pullman and one of the reasons we keep returning.

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas and the New Year. Had to acknowledge the great service we received at the Pullman, hence one of the reasons for this review. We got to know some of the staff reasonably well as you would expect over 2 weeks and we would like Pullman Management to be aware: Ben (Barman) so friendly, always ready with a quick, funny one liner quip, great service, always with a smile, always remembered what we drank and made us feel so welcome. Janet (Restaurant Reception) really friendly, beautiful smile, nothing was too much trouble, great service, always very welcoming and considerate. Savannah (Barrister extraordinaire) again really friendly, beautiful smile, nothing was too much trouble, great service, always very welcoming and made the best Flat White Coffee. She could also make a Snowman, Christmas tree and text in the coffee froth - amazing! Last but not least, Bau, one of the dining room waiters, super polite. very interesting to talk too, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Our room (1103) was spotlessly clean, bed very comfortable, everything worked especially the Air conditioning. Only one small criticism my wife explained; "they never had crispy bacon for breakfast", I guess you can't have everything :-)

We checked out The Wizard High Tea at The Pullman Cairns International! The first mystery is finding it.✨ It’s on Level 2 upstairs in the Kingsford’s Lounge where they have transformed it into an enchanting smokey Great Hall!😍 Around the dining area you can find familiar posters and items from your favourite Harry Potter movies. There’s even an interactive Sorting Hat which will place you in a house!🧙 We sat down at a long table decorated with candles 🕯️(just like in the great hall!😍) and started off with teas from the large list of black, green & herbal teas available. We got the Darjeeling 2nd Flush from India and the Pineapple & Osmanthus tea.🫖 Next our treats arrived. Witness the magic as smoke billows off the top of the tiered stand.😮 We each got 3 sweet and 4 savoury items. My stand outs were the Salmon Cream Cheese Witches Hat and the Chocolate Chilli Spider!🕷️🤤 Then we got some more tea. This time we chose Assam Breakfast and Earl Grey teas both from India. The Assam was my favourite of the day.😋 Out came our fresh scones all wrapped up to keep them warm with strawberry jam, cream and raspberry coulis. There’s also an additional cocktail list with alcoholic and non alcoholic options like everyone’s favourite Butter Beer and Witches Potions.🍹🍺 This is Perfect for families, friends and wizardry enthusiasts! We had a great time chilling in the enchanting atmosphere. These kinds of themed high teas are popular overseas like in Japan so it’s great to see something like this in Cairns. I hope they continue to do themed high tea experiences. Pullmans Wizard High Tea is currently running till the end of February.🪄 You can book on their website and there’s 3 packages to choose from.

We have been stayed at the Pullman several times in association with attendance at National Basketball League games. We recently stayed for a week with another couple from Boxing Day until 2 January. This will be our last stay. Our room was not clean, with mould on ceiling, curtains, framed prints, skirtings and outdoor furniture. This was reported but no action taken. There were also stains on the furniture, carpet and curtains.The paint n balcony walls was severely blistered. We were told that we had been allocated a room on an incorrect floor. Don’t know what difference in floor level should make to the level of cleanliness There seems to be a lack of attention to maintenance. The pool surface was deteriorating when we first stayed back in 2018. Nothing seems to have been done to address this with increasing significant rust patches and flaking surface. Lots of guests commented on this. There seems to be a distinct lack of care - missing tap handle in ladies toilet adjoining pool, rotted out guttering on pool house, garbage not cleared from pool area. The pool was supposed to be accessible from 6.30am but we had to go to reception on three occasions when the pool could not be accessed until after 8.00am. Our friends were in an adjoining room. There was no outdoor furniture on their balcony. Had to make numerous requests before it was provided, nearly four days into our stay. They had similar problems with the cleanliness of their room, also missing clothes line.

Your feedback is invaluable to us, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. I sincerely apologize for the cleanliness issues you encountered in your room. It is unacceptable that your reports did not lead to prompt action, and I understand the frustration this must have caused. I assure you that this matter will be thoroughly investigated with our housekeeping team to ensure such oversights are rectified. Regarding the maintenance concerns, particularly the pool surface and other issues you mentioned, I want to assure you that we take this feedback seriously. The lapses in care and service you mentioned, such as missing tap handles and rotted guttering, are not reflective of our usual standards. We will investigate each of these issues and ensure that the necessary measures are taken to rectify them. I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delayed access to the pool and the oversight with outdoor furniture for your friends' balcony. Such lapses in service are not typical of our standards, and I will address these issues with the relevant teams to prevent recurrence.
