Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not worth the price nothing like the photos bit rundown only worth about $80 a night not $180.
shower curtains weren’t even long enough to reach past the ledge for the shower. Water went everywhere they go to all that effort and money to re-tile the shower and bathroom and can’t even get the shower curtains, right?
No power points near the bed head so you can charge your phone closest one was over near the microwave.
Old box unit Aircon didn’t really work
I would not pay that much to stay here again

Nice hotel with a lovely pool area. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Some small issues like no crockery etc in rooms but there is currently a change of ownership. Handy to the city, good security.

My hubby and I stayed for the first time at hotel Tropiq this week. We came up from our hectic lives in Sydney just to get away and take a deep breath. From the moment we checked in, we could feel the stress melt away.
Thank you to the wonderful team there for making our stay so wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Booked our stay at this hotel approx 5 months ago and secured a price I was happy with.

New owners have taken over and renovations and repairs are understood , however cancelling our booking at the last minute was highly inconvenient and costly . School holidays in July are sold out at all accommodation and very expensive . It would have been nice to have received some help from the new management to secure new accommodation as opposed to us with two weeks notice stressing on finding what limited options remained. We would have also appreciated having more than two weeks notice of the change in booking , the reason we book in advance is to avoid stress and avoid last minute high costs which is exactly what we incurred .

We hope new owners do well but also give more respect to travellers that if long standing bookings are in the system provide significant notice or alternative accommodation . It is not fair to the paying guest to incur such inconveniences when they have planned accordingly . This would especially be additionally frustrating if you were travelling with kids .

TL;DR: Careful of being scammed. I should have seen the red flags that this hotel operates like a scam. If you want to be sure you'll have a place to rest your head at night, don't book here. I was stranded in the middle of the night as a solo female traveler with nowhere to sleep. After googling the issue, I found out later that I was not the only person this has happened to. See below for details:

*First red flag:*
I should have realized this was a scam when I booked (directly through their website, I might add) and didn’t receive a confirmation email. I called in to make sure I would have a room because I was charged but didn’t receive an email confirmation until they "resent" it when I enquired.

*Second red flag:*
I then asked how I’d check in after reception hours because I had a late flight. I was assured over the phone that there was an “after hours” protocol and I’d receive more information on the day of my check in.

*Third red flag:*
Not feeling comfortable with that answer, I then emailed in only to get the same response. I’m not sure why they couldn’t give me the information to check in when I asked.

*What transpired:*
They never sent me details on how to check in after reception hours. When I arrived from my flight after 1am, I was desperately hoping I'd be able to check in despite that fact. There was a sign to “use the phone on the other wall” to call the operator for instructions on how to check-in. There was no phone. Instead, there was another sign that said to call a number if you couldn’t get hold of the operator. It was like a demented scavenger hunt.

That number didn’t work and nobody answered. As a solo female traveler, I was stranded at 1:30am by myself after a long day of international travel to get there and with nothing open in the vicinity. I had to walk over half a mile with all of my luggage to find a place that was open that I could sleep in. I obviously demanded reimbursement.

I emailed in again and didn’t receive a response for over a week, after I followed up multiple times. I finally received an answer by a “manager” who had the audacity to say that “with 48hours cancellation [they] did not have to” refund me so it was out of their kindness that they would do any such thing. Again, I did not cancel, they literally prevented me from staying because of their negligence.

Don’t let them steal your money.

Went to cairns on business and hadn’t stayed here before but chose it because I heard it’s had a renovation and ownership change.
It surprised me by how nice it was. I really loved the chilled out atmosphere the room had overlooking the pool with all the palm trees and greenery.

Very Average, we just needed a reasonable place to stay for 1 night before we flew out. We weren’t expecting much but this place was very average, run down, limited parking, noisy with someone knocking on doors during the night & rooms run down & not that clean, pool terrible & overpriced very disappointing. Don’t trust the pictures supplied.

We haven’t had a vacation for a long time so we were desperately in need of some rnr when we arrived at Hotel Tropiq. We were greeted by a lovely lady on reception who went out of her way to welcome us and make us feel at home. It was the perfect start to a wonderful stay :)

Simple and old-fashioned room. Many small flaws, but was clean (enough). The hotel itself had few facilities. Mini pool and few/no public places to relax. Walking to the center is possible, but quite far (25 minutes). Biggest drawback is that the rooms are very noisy. I woke up every day before 7 am from all the noise (children, departing guests, etc). Okay hotel for a few days stay in Cairns, but don't expect luxury.

Where to start ! It was absolutely nothing like the photos on the website our room was beyond dirty, hair on the floor dust on everything didn't want to use the ceiling fan as it had at least a inch of dust on it, which required a pair of tweezers to turn on/off the air/con was filthy with pigeons nesting on the outside, holes in walls not fixed/painted over! The bottom of the bath was disgusting we kept our jandals on. Over all I would never recommend, and now my husband looks at reviews, hence why I'm writing this. The young lady at the desk when we first arrived was lovely it was only her second day but she was amazing and the sheets on our bed were clean.
