Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel had the best pool we experienced on our trip "Cairns to Sydney". We had a King size room with a balcony over looking the pool. Spacious clean room. Good Value. The Raintrees shopping centre is across the street. The negatives no restaurant in the hotel. The lift smelt damp. It is out of town so we used Ubers to get into the main town.

We stayed here recently as it was convenient to the airport. Before our first flight we stayed in a King Room with pool view. Nice room on the ground floor close to reception, neat and clean and fairly large it was good value. On our return from overseas we were given a King Room on the first floor and it was another good room overlooking the pool. Unfortunately we got to Cairns at the end of cyclone Jasper so the highway south was closed. We had to rebook for another two nights before we could resume our journey back home. The staff were very helpful and we got to stay in the same room for less than the price of the original booking price. Located right next door to the hotel is a shopping centre so we were able to get supplies and had somewhere to go to get something to eat. The only minor downside was the lack of onsite parking, had to park on the street in front of the hotel but the street had plenty of room so it wasn't too bad.

Great value for money and great location if you have your own vehicle to get around. Only five minute drive from Cairns CBD and easy access to shops. The rooms are spacious and comfortable although a little dated. There is a large lagoon style pool that features in the centre of the property. Definitely feels like you are in the tropics when staying here.

Not a bad choice. Hotel setting was nice. It was clean. Handy when you are travelling south. The bed was fine, but not the most comfortable I’ve slept in and could have done with more pillows. Wifi password didn’t work. I think you need a password for each device. The disappointing thing was there was no information in the room. No number to call reception. No suggestions on where to eat. This is kind of important as there is no toaster/dishes/cutlery etc. My suggestion is to walk over to the Raintrees shopping Centre. Near Woolworths. They do good breakfast, coffee and even meals. They open early and stay open for evening meals too. Another place not too far away(if you have a car) is the Balaclava Hotel. They also do seniors meals. Dunwoody’s is good if you have kids. Kids eat free Mondays.

We stayed at the Palm Royale for only 3 nights & I wish it could have been longer. We checked in late the 1 st night so there was little time left of the day except to go to bed. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the pool & it was fairly comfortable. Unfortunately, the room was a long walk from the lobby, the air conditioner was very loud, and there was some street noise. Most of the staff @ the desk were pleasant & approachable. There is also guest laundry +++. The pools are fantastic. The restaurant is closed. This property is too far from the centre. There is shopping nearby.

Good location ! Was our first visit from Townsville. Liked the room and views but the first impression wasn’t very good ! Receptionist at the counter could smile bit more and greet their guests specially when they arrive at their place ! Not great for family

Nice apartments, clean and lovely pool area with rooms alsooverlooking the pool. Slightly noisey as backs on to main road. Unfortunately, a 25/30 min bus or 15 min cab costing around $20 one way. Would be nice if a little shuttle was put on as nothing else around the apartments other than a Woolworths.

Standard hotel, looks good from the outside and is nice from inside, maybe a little old and basic but was clean and tidy for a short stay. The reception staff were lovely and helpful, same with the security staff, they appeared very thorough which made us feel safe. We asked for a quiet room but we’re right near reception, loud music went off around 6:30am and cases/ noises could be heard from early. Location is too far away from centre of Cairns, with a car you’re able to get around. We only stayed for one night and the hotel was perfect for what we needed. Do not think we would return based on location

Gorgeous pool, gardens and balconies. Excellent value, but out of town a bit. I had a room that backed onto the highway, but really only noticed the traffic noise on the first night. Buses to town were close and easy, though I avoided traveling after 8pm as a solo woman. Great place to chill by the pool or on the balcony. Commendations to the gardener for the little piece of paradise they have created! Agreed the Wi-Fi is non existent in the rooms. Can I please ask what type of pillows they have, they were awesome and I want some for my home!

The staff were very good and polite especially MJ the Emy. The place was cleantastic and everything was fantastic. We will recommend to everyone about the Palm Royale . Easier to access , bath room also was clean and enough towels to use and we able to borrow for our snorkelling etc. You will love staying in this hotel.
