Detailed Reviews
ALL the staff we encountered here were absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We were upstairs and no lift to my knowledge, they do have ground floor rooms if stairs are a problem. The room was basic but had everything we needed, spotless and everyday the ladies came, made the bed and tidied up, replenishing anything needed. It had a relaxed and easy feel about it. My only grievance was shower not very hot, we asked at the desk and lady offered to move us but we liked the room we had so stayed put. Great location and easy walk to main part of Cairns and restaurants, about 2 blocks to the boardwalk. We found it very comfortable and really enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I stayed here on our way to and from the Gulflander and Savannahlander train trips. First nite we arrived at approx. 6.15pm from the train station. The man at reception was on hand to explain that the restaurant was closed so could not provide a breakfast but had out sourced ii to a local cafe but because we were leaving early the next morning at 6.00am we were good.
But we ordered breakfast for the following Sunday morning upon our return from train trip. We were told that the breakfast would be delivered to to our room at 7.00am, fresh and hot.
When we arrived at our room on the Saturday nite our fresh and hot breakfast was in the fridge in paper bags. My wife had ordered bacon roll and bacon and egg roll with a veg muffin. The room had no microwave oven or any way of heating our rolls and how long had they been in the fridge? If this is the answer to the restaurant being closed for whatever reason to say they can provide a breakfast they need a plan B.
The rooms themselves were good and clean except for the mould in the shower recess.
Overall would not recommend it

Hi Rod, thank you for taking the time to write a review as we have been expecting it due to you threatening us with a bad review over your breakfast concerns. First thing, I would like to apologise for your breakfast being placed in fridge by mistake by one of our new employees who accidently placed it in your fridge on there first day at work. You were clearly explained at check in if you had any problems, call us so we can fix them, you failed to do this so we could not fix your issue with breakfast. If you had of advised us (yes, you can call the afterhours caretaker as you were explained), we would have fixed the issue straightaway for you. So, I think we both failed on this issue, I do apologise once again from our side. COVID has impacted all businesses in Cairns dramatically, including restaurants shutting down and remaining shut like ours; here at the Inn we decided to use an external supply so we could continue to satisfy our guests needs, so we are trying in these tough times. We do not appreciate people like you threating us with, I quote a section in your letter “ our breakfast was cold, not what we were promised so I am going to place it on all review sites”. Rod, we sincerely appreciate your feedback as it helps us to improve and ensure our training to new team members is sufficient; we certainly hope you have a fantastic day and stay safe throughout COVID-19

The first thing you notice at check-in is the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff, from the front desk to the housekeepers, everyone says hello, and nothing is too much trouble 😊
Location is great, it’s a 10 minute walk into town and 5 minutes to the Esplanade.
Great breakfast in the morning looking over the pool (this was on special for $15/head-fantastic value for hot and cold options).
The room is smaller than average, but has a mini fridge, large TV and decent en-suite, aircon, and a little courtyard with table & chairs.
Bed very comfy (king with slight ridge down the middle).
This place has a nice vibe and would highly recommend as great value for money.

I've stayed here in the past on my own and always enjoy the high level of customer service, room cleanliness and close location to Cairns CBD, and am happy to recommend it for family and friends. This is the second time in a week a family member and I need to attend the Cairns Day Surgery which is just a few doors down from Coral Tree - just so convenient. Thanks Jason and rest of the staff for all you do to make these stays so much less stressful.

This Inn is in a great position especially if you like to walk. There is no elevator so the best rooms are on the ground floor if you don’t want to tackle the stairs. There is a lovely BBQ area that is kept really clean. All the utensils, crockery and cutlery is given to you from the reception if required. There is a big laundry with coin operated washer and dryers. The pool is beautiful and very clean. The laundry also has a microwave oven for everyone to use or you can hire one for your room. The dining room is closed until march 2023. You are in walking distance to a Hugh range of cafes and shops. If you wish to book tours reception can organise that for you. We had room 115 it was great, it opened out onto the BBQ area and has a table and 2 chairs outside your door. The room was large and bed comfortable. There is a small fridge, kettle, tea and coffee in your room. Large colour TV. Bathroom has a walk-in shower. Every morning between 7am and 9 am in the foyer they have freshly brewed coffee and biscuits and the coffee is really good. Our room was refreshed every day with fresh towels and our bed sheets were changed every 3 days. The housekeeping ladies were lovely and would help out any way they could. We would stay there again

The room was amazing. King size+ bed, comfortable pillows, large shower and soft towels. Immacuately clean and best of all on the ground floor. Close to all the hot spots without being in a noisy area. Walking distance to everything. Front of house staff couldn't do enough for us and met our requests with a genuine smile.
We booked another night at the end of our trip and asked for the same room. Whilst they couldn't guarantee that we would they said they'd do their best. We stayed in the same room!
Complimentary coffee in the foyer, book swap and seating in the lounge. Advised if we booked out early we could store our lagguage and if required we could have a shower with toiletries and towels provided. Also able to use the pool -and towels, if we had a late flight. Never seen all of this before in the many hotels I have stayed in throughout the world.

I have recently been on a road trip around Australia and the Coral Tree Inn was the first hotel that we stayed in. We arrived at the Coral Tree Inn, a earlier than the stated check in time
As we had just flown in from Singapore, we were tired and in need of a shower. We checked in and although we were told that the room wasn’t quite ready we were advised that there was a shower and a changing room that we could use whilst we waited.
Having got changed we were told that the room was now ready and we were allocated room number 206, which was located on the 1st floor.
The room was ok, whilst everything looked clean we noticed that there were a few bits of dust on the floor in the bathroom and in the main room.
The room consisted of Kingsize bed which was comfortable and helped to provide a good nights sleep. The storage facilities in the room were adequate for our stay.
The bathroom consisted of a three piece suite, sink shower and toilet and the toiletries were also included.
At the time of staying there property was undergoing renovations and had scaffolding up, which we wasn’t made aware of when we booked, but this had no effect at all on our stay. Both the workman and the staff were extremely polite and very helpful.
The hotel is well situated and within easy reach of most things in Cairns.
The only thing to be aware of is that this property doesn’t haven’t a lift.

We stayed at the Coral Tree Inn at the start of our 10 week trip travelling Australia. We arrived in the evening and were greeted with a very friendly member of staff, he was welcoming and gave us lots of information on the local area. Our room was great, balcony over the BBQ/pool area, room was clean, air-con and fan were a godsend! Lots of tea/coffee/sugar provided in the room.
We used the BBQ at the hotel twice during our four night stay with the hotel providing us with cooking utensils, oil, salt and pepper which was great.
The hotel has a wide selection of board games and during the tropical storm, it was too wet to venture out in the evening, we took a couple of board games back to our room and played them on the balcony whilst watching the storm!
The pool area was clean, very relaxing for an early morning swim.
The main Esplanade was just a short 10min walk from the hotel, Woolworths was also only around 10min walk, great location :)
All of the staff we met were excellent, friendly, laid back and very helpful. They even provided guests with umbrellas to borrow when the storms hit!
We really enjoyed our stay, we were sad to leave!
Thanks again Coral Tree

Booked early direct with CTI, got a great rate for our 2 week stay. A 15/20 min flat walk and you are in the town.
Our room was on the 3rd floor, no lift so good exercise.
Great comfortable beds, shocking pillows too soft for me, i ended up using the little red cushion that sits on the bed.
Shower over bath, no rails so if you are unsteady on your feet take care. The sofa in the lounge has seen better days as you sink into it.
Our room was over the BBQ area some families can be noisy but i never heard them when i went to bed.
Attentive housekeeping always asking what you need for a daily refill of tea coffee ect.
Sorry to say but reception dont seem very happy, there is only one older asian lady whoever smiled. I never got her name. The young lady from NZ is lovely she just needs to smile more. The guy on reception might be in the wrong vocation i feel.
I work with the public its my passion and know you collect more bees with honey than you do with vinegar.
At the end of the day would i stay here again, yes i would.
Sorry no photos.

I suggest on your next stay, you come to reception to meet all the wonderful staff and get to know there names as I am sure they would have been extremely happy to share there kindness/ happiness back towards you.

Coral Tree was an agreeable budget hotel that was perfect for a short 2 day stay. The rooms were a good size, the location on Grafton St is comfortable walking distance from pretty much anywhere in Cairns CBD including the Esplanade, Marina & Cairns Central. There is minimal onsite parking (not secure or undercover) but plenty of street parking is available near the hotel. There is a pool to cool off in if you wish (perfect during the summer season) & pre covid there was a breakfast cafe attached but it wasn’t operating when I stayed. The staff were very friendly & helpful too. I would definitely stay here again for my next return to Cairns.

Yes, my daughter and I got the Sunpalm shuttle bus which was about $30 return each. They pick up at your door. They have an office at the airport and are very helpful.
Just a quick note though, I booked our bus for 11am to take us to the airport and the man was at least 15 minutes early so make sure you are ready.
Good luck and enjoy your trip
