Crystalbrook Flynn is the younger sibling to Crystalbrook Riley and Crystalbrook Bailey and like many younger siblings, Crystalbrook Flynn likes being the social butterfly and doesn’t mind showing off from time to time. Exquisite glass swimming pools facing the Esplanade to splash in is just one example of how Crystalbrook Flynn likes to engage. Staying with Crystalbrook Flynn is a stimulating experience. Crystalbrook Flynn likes to entertain our guests… not just accommodate them. Guests can be assured of truly dynamic food and drink experiences – there is always a DJ ready to play and a martini ready to be shaken (or stirred). Just steps from the Esplanade boardwalk, Crystalbrook Flynn enjoys modern living through attitude, design, technology and a passion for a better world – or what we call #responsibleluxury. That means no plastic straws, water bottles or guest-room key cards, using technology to reduce paper, providing large-pump amenities bottles (saving more than 250,000 plastic bottles each year) and partnering with Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef, TerraCycle, OzHarvest and Containers for Change. Crystalbrook Flynn likes to show off online too so, of course, fast and free Wi-Fi is available in all public spaces throughout the hotel. Each room and suite also has an Apple iPad control centre, Staycast by Google for video streaming, access to hundreds of complimentary movies and Nespresso machines (naturally with recyclable pods). A dining experience at Flynn is not simply a reflection of the local culture, but a representation of the ever-changing natural surrounds of Cairns. Featuring local flavours and a mouth-watering selection of cuisine, the culinary options are unsurpassed. Satisfy your carb-cravings with a hearty Italian spread at Flynn’s Italian, treat yourself with a divine high tea tower at Whiskey and Wine, or feast on a smorgasbord of tasty treats at Boardwalk Social. There’s something for everyone. The impressive assortment of local and imported wines offered at our distinguished on-site bars will leave you spoiled for choice, but if wine isn’t your thing, the creative cocktail concoctions will not disappoint.

Crystalbrook Flynn stands out for its prime location, a favorite among travelers for its proximity to local attractions and the Great Barrier Reef. While the hotel's cleanliness and luxurious amenities like modern bathrooms and comfortable beds are often praised, some guests highlight housekeeping inconsistencies and replenishment issues. Although the atmosphere is celebrated for its contemporary style and lively entertainment, opinions on value are mixed, with some reviewers pointing out unexpected charges. The service is generally commended for its friendliness, despite occasional lapses in responsiveness.

Beautiful hotel with excellent service. Situated right on the beach and promenade. Ask for a room with a balcony. Two individuals made my stay exceptional: Kevin in the restaurant and Charlotte in guest services. Charlotte quickly assisted me when the initial room just was not livable due to the heavy musk. When approached, she read the room pretty quickly knew that I was heading out and offered to have some options for me upon my return. Which upon my return 30 minutes later she gave me two options both of which she had personally checked out. Both were acceptable so I appreciated her assistance. Thank you Charlotte Last but certainly not least, the hotel is lucky to have Kevin in the restaurant. Kevin’s attitude is customer satisfaction period. His personality is a delight. Any issue he handled quickly, professionally and personally to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. He manages with ease and all respect him. His hands on approach leading by example is admirable. Thank you Kevin ❤️

We loved Crystalbrook Flynn. The rooms were clean and modern. The beds super comfortable our view from the king sea view cairns was breathtaking. There was some dance music on Saturday and Sunday night but that didn’t bother us at all nothing wrong with a private dance on your balcony. But once we closed the doors the music was in the background. The coffee in the room was great and I’m from Melbourne! The shower pressure was so good that I’ve taken a photo of the fixture so I can put it in my bathroom at home 😂 and I really appreciate their environmental efforts from the room key , coat hangers to the refill water bottle station 🌎❤️
The location is exactly where you want to be, very close to many great restaurants and the night market for a $25 massage.

Spent five nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The location, right on the Esplanade is perfect. It is a short five-minute walk to the harbour where the boats leave for a trip to the Reef or Green Island, while there are plenty of restaurants / bars right outside the door.
The room (King in the Esplanade Tower) was spacious with a beautiful view of the harbour. Very comfy bed and a big bathroom made it very comfortable.
Breakfast is served in the Italian restaurant and there were plenty of choices. Shout out to Dipak (chef) who was always working hard to make sure the offerings were fresh. Each night we had a drink at the Boardwalk Bar and can highly recommend the frozen Pina Coladas.
It is obvious that they work hard at trying to be environmentally friendly which is admirable BUT maybe they can still provide a DO NOT DISTURB / CLEAN ROOM card, as we came home one night to find the room had not been made up so we had to chase up some towels / coffee pods which was a pain. The people who clean the rooms are fantastic and it was a simple mistake but having that sign on the door would ensure no rooms were missed. Also, for some reason the water runs out of the shower under the glass screen leaving pools of water on the floor which is a little dangerous.
However, would not hesitate to stay again.

1. Booked a seaview suite almost 2 months in advance (paying extra hundreds for the "seaview") – got a disability room of a lower class with a city view. The check-in manager insisted it was exactly the room we ordered, even though the view was clearly not as depicted in the photos (on their official website, I must add). The shower had no glass doors or tropical showerhead, just a simple shower with a curtain, so the floor would get all wet around it. The manager was inconsiderate, bordering on rude, and only offered a discount for the room.
2. There were only 2 sets of everything in the room, despite booking for 4 (2 kids). One big towel had holes, and the other had significant stains.
3. The phone in the room didn't work, so I had to walk to the lobby (in a different, adjacent building) each time because no one ever answered city calls.
4. The next day, after my email (which was left unanswered, by the way), we were moved to a 2-bedroom seaview suite. This one did have the advertised seaview and proper showers.
5. We never made it to the pool because, during all four days we were there, it wasn't cleaned once! Through the glass floor of the pool, we could see the same white tissues floating around… Gross.
6. Buffet breakfast – frankly, I can't recall ever having such an awful breakfast. I wanted to go somewhere else after our first breakfast, but my wife suggested giving it another try the next morning, which we did, and it was a mistake. Unfortunately, on our departure day, we had to eat there again because we had an early flight. All three times, breakfast was awful. Even our less demanding kids were unhappy with it. There was a very poor selection of fruits (at other, surprisingly cheaper, hotel we had the same selection + pineapple, passion fruit, kiwi; all fresh and delicious), vegetables and salads, most of them were not fresh and faded. Forget about the taste! All the cooked food was mediocre at best. By our last breakfast, it was obvious that their restaurant was beyond redemption, so I just ate fresh fruits—at least their master chef couldn't ruin those.
Not once was there a table for four actually set for 3 or 4 people—only for two. And the staff never adjusted it when they saw us, so we did it ourselves. "Fantastic" service. It's genuinely hard to find such unprofessionalism in so many areas of ONE place.
7. The last (check-out) manager was as unprofessional and discourteous as the first (check-in) manager. She suggested we wait for another manager to get the promised refund (which they said would be returned at check-out) because she had no knowledge of how to do it or of the situation. This other manager was in an induction, and she couldn't even give an estimate of when he'd be back. So she suggested we just "wait." Apparently, we were supposed to forward this instruction to the airlines as well!
The managers we dealt with between the first and the last were professional and properly handled rectifying mistakes.
8. They refunded the money about a week after check-out, but $30 short, as they overcharged for breakfast! They also didn't release the $150 deposit in time, so I had to contact them again to rectify this too.

Good Morning Vadim, I am sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations, and I will be sure to pass on your feedback to the relevant departments regarding the breakfast and housekeeping. I must clarify a few points- I understand the initial room may not have been as the marketing images, but this was a one-bedroom Sea Suite which is what you booked. It was an accessible room which is why it had the different shower configuration and for this we applied a rate reduction of $150 per night. The next day we upgraded you to a Flynn Suite which is the highest room type in the hotel- we still agreed to the reduced rate as an additional offer as a gesture of goodwill. We did not respond to your email as we had spoken in person in the morning to arrange the room move and explain the differences in room types. The person you spoke to on Check Out was not a Manager and as she was unsure on the refund process and therefore rightly suggested waiting for a manager to assist. The refund was processed at the time of check-out, but this does reflect instantly in your account. This usually takes 3-5 business days, the $150 authorization is a hold with your bank and not a deposit with the hotel, we rectified this by contacting your bank and requested the Authorization to be released. We do value your review and will use the feedback to see where improvements can be made but I feel there are some areas where our efforts to create a positive stay have been misrepresented. I hope that you choose to stay with us again and give us the opportunity to show that we have heard you and made positive changes. Kind Regards,

My husband had cancelled a previous hotel booking as he saw this one and liked the sound of it. I am so glad he did.

We arrived quite late at the hotel.
We were greeted by a very friendly Ziggy on reception who was so helpful carrying our heavy luggage for us. He also gave us some good advice about local amenities and organised storage of some medical freezer blocks for us.

We decided to order room service as we were so tired.
Perfectly cooked food that arrived very promptly.
The room was amazing. Large with a very comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities.

We also used the boardwalk social at the front of the hotel.
Great location looking out onto the Esplanade.
Music on a Sunday which was great.
We ate there on a few occasions. The food was always hot and the portions are large.
The staff are brilliant. We met Nicola and Annbolin and had lovely chats with them both
Thank you ladies for your great service. It was a pleasure to meet you.
On our departure Gayhun who is from South Korea was also extremely helpful.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in on our one month tour in Oz. We will definitely book Crystalbrook again and would recommend.

Thanks to all the staff for a great experience.

Kim & Eddie

Excellent location, right on the board walk close to most restaurants and the big pool by the pier side. Room was clean , pillows were soft , ordered a memory foam pillow which was delivered quickly. On check in the staff forgot to mention anything about our room and hotel amenities even regarding the app or the iPad in the room to view all the information , which is really a shame for a 5 star rated hotel . But apart from that all staff are friendly , efficient and happy to help . Onsite restaurants- Boardwalk social and Italian by Flynn both nice meals and breakfast daily was nice . We loved the fresh watermelon. Car parking is $15 per night , safe, secure underground parking for which you will be provided a remote to open the barrier on exit and entry. The balcony view was amazing , nice place to enjoy a few wines. Overall a very pleasant stay. :)

Room E603 is a nice studio room in the esplanade tower with all the luxurious amenities you should except from this caliber of hotel.
We checked in slightly early to at least get our bags looked after before heading to a work function and they were able to unexpectdly accommodate access to our room with a smille!
The room is spacious with incredibly comfy beds and pillows that are seemingly hard to come by. We stayed a weekend and even with the festival across the road and buzzing night life we heard nothing of this in our room.
Everything was superbly clean and maintained across the entire building, you can see people working to keep it that way in all hours of the day.
The gym has a few cardio and pin loaded weight machines but could really use free hand weights or barbells so you could do a sufficient workout in the spacious area.
The buffet breakfast was as expected with the usual offerings of eggs, bacon, juices/hot drinks, cereals, sweets and breaky veggies. You would probably spend the same amount of money getting a decent breakfast elsewhere in nearby restaurants.

We had a great package with Crystalbrook Flynn which included breakfast, credit to spend on food and beverages at any of the Flynn properties, two cruises, (one out to the outer reef and one to Green island), free movies and a welcome bottle of wine. This hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Cairns on foot with one entrance on the Esplanade and the other on Abbott St.
We stayed in a well-appointed urban king room and were luckily allocated the top floor with panoramic views of the inlet and mountains and from our balcony a view of the sea. Our room was large, modern, clean and comfortable. We found all the staff friendly and helpful. The only area for improvement would be breakfast; the hot buffet offerings were disappointing.

Beware Breakfast Buffet is NOT included on all bookings 😡

We selected Flynn as the location was great, the rooms are ok, nothing special, I guess you pay for the view. We were located in the esplanade tower.

We had 2 rooms, my parent’s room breakfast was included. I was not told upon checkin or at the breakfast buffet each day that I would be charged a whopping $38.90 per day for the breakfast buffet, i was on the list! And marked off every day. The staff there are lovely and dealing with the multitude of different nationalities.

I definitely would have opted to go somewhere else as all I eat is a small fruit bowl and paid for my own coffee. $38.90 per day for a small fruit bowl is excessive!

To my surprise when I checked out the man at the desk said all you have left to pay is $191 for the breakfast buffet! I questioned it and he just said well I’ll take it out of your holding deposit and email you an invoice!

I sent 3 emails regarding this matter and no response.

When I arrived home I receive a marketing email saying “final chance to score a free breaky” is this a joke? Not laughing!

The bar downstairs give a miss. The staff are lovely but stuffed up our order we were overcharged. Then waited 20 minutes to find a manager to refund, the cocktails were terrible maybe a simple beer and wine might be ok. The pizza not much better.

Plenty of great restaurants around cairns, as well as hotels and apartments, I would definitely not be going back to this one. Poor management and feel ripped off!

I have only spent one night here as I had reservations in a different hotel that I could not cancel. The hotel appears to be new, clean, spotless in all areas. The check in process was quick and the staff friendly. The room was spacious, very clean, comfortable large bed, large bathroom with very nice bath products. Had a city view with a balcony. Everything is quite modern, there is a tablet in the room that you can use for information, communication and other facilities. Eco friendly, the room key is made of recycled wood and there are glass bottles in the fridge for water.
Buffet breakfast was very good, many options, lovely staff. Reception staff is flexible with late check out of needed. Good wifi in all areas.
I can’t really think of any cons. I would stay again and recommend it.
