We spent 7 nights here in June of this year. It is close to airport but not too close. A short walk into town was great along the boardwalk. We had an Executive Ocean View room. The view of the ocean was very nice. Sitting on the balcony watching the water was very relaxing. The pool was nice and clean. Lots of deck chairs around the pool. I did find it a bit dated though. Could do with a good revamping. Breakfast was very nice. Good range to choose from. We didn’t eat dinner there as there are so many restaurants to choose from just a short walk away. Staff were very good.

I have stayed at the Rydges a number of times over the years. I still find it reasonable value but the hotel is getting tired and is in need of a renovation. One of the electrical sockets didn’t work in the room and the switch for the water to be for the bath or shower needed someone with the strength of Arnold Schwarzenegger to shift. The housekeeper had also forgotten to replace the towels in the bathroom. The other negative is that reception service can be very slow.

We stayed at the Rydges Apartments, next door to the hotel. The view over Cairns and Trinity Bay was amazing, but we were very disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the apartment and the state of the furniture. The bathroom especially was in need of an upgrade. The shower over the bath was out of date and managing to get in and out of the shower was a safety issue. The towels provided were thin and past there use by date and there was very limited hanging racks for damp towels. The bedroom did not have enough drawers for storage of clothes and the access to the small wardrobe was very limited. Also it is worth noting that many of the apartments are privately owned by permanent residents. Overall our apartment was in need of an upgrade. The pools at the hotel and apartments were good, but the gym was once again tired and need of an upgrade.

Rydges came up trumps yet again on our fourth visit. Service throughout the hotel is second to none. Excellent room service at all times. All the staff are most helpful. Restaurant has good service even in these difficult 'covid' times. Being on the front is a great position.

Very happy with the accommodation. Spacious and clean. Great views of ocean and cairns city. Close Location to the esplanade/boardwalk. Car parking easy as is entry and exit to the building. Loved the camera and audio setup in the apartment allowing us to remotely allow guests to enter the building. Will be happy to stay again.

Stayed here for 4 days with husband and son who lives in Melbourne and who came up to Cairns with us as we were on holiday in Australia visiting him for the first time. This accommodation of 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms was perfect for us and gave us our own space and my son too which was ideal. He had his own key into his large double room with large bathroom with shower and we had a large bedroom, really large sitting area with a view over the sea which was perfect. Kitchen area was large and had everything you needed. From our bedroom you could see the lush green hills of the rainforest. Although apartment was ideal for us it could really have done with a bit of TLC. Reception staff very pleasant. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night which was not all that good and a bit expensive for what we got. Soon found other restaurants nearby which were really good. Would stay here again.

The pricing and location of the hotel is incredibly convenient and close to nearby shops and attraction, but the apartment wasn’t worth at all! The rooms and corridors had an extremely strange, pungent and Unwelcoming smell and were incredibly questionable.

Very good location. Across the road to Esplanade walking track and Muddy’s playground, the kids loved it. We could walk to the Night Market and most restaurants from here. Rooms are clean and staff very friendly. Overall a well maintained property.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. Checkin and check out was efficient with friendly and helpful front desk staff. The room was clean and tidy. Unfortunately the room was dated and tired. The mattress was well worn with a distinctive slump on one side from single travellers preferring the one side. This made for uncomfortable sleeping. The air conditioning is preset to 25 with no control (besides on and off) - so this time of the year it will contribute very little to drying the air with the net result being a very damp room and nothing dries. I'm sure the preset aircon will have an environmental justification but we all know the real reason is cost containment. If the bed and aircon are corrected this would be a much more comfortable place to stay.

Dont understand how people could rate this place. We had the rooms that over looked the hospital and honestly they were disgusting. Rust around the rim of the plug, the teatowles were still damp and had a bad smell and the lounge in kids room had big dust particles on it. Had breakfast there and thst was a joke too, cant believe they would serve pineapple from the can. The only good thing was the concierge named Saun he was fantastic.
