Recently stayed at the Tropical Queenslander with partner and her kids. The hotel was booked by a friend who also stayed. Disappointed with the room, decor is dated and smelt musty. The bathroom was in need of a renovation. The pull out bed in the room couldn't be used without moving the bed. The Base was damaged and the mattress...

Just needed 1 night in cairns as I bounced through and this place fitted my needs. Close to town, 20 minute walk, well priced and all up pretty quiet. Bit of plane noise now and then, but as the cairns airport is not very busy thats not much of an issue. Bed was comfy, 1 element stove if you want...

I used to stay at this hotel when picking up my children from boarding school,so quite often. It used to be clean and peasant, nothing special but served my purposes well.I stayed there once again after new management/ownership,never again.Since the place was taken over and "refurbished" which has been a really bad job, should have left it as it was and just painted...

The management is helpful. The motel is getting old but centrally located and comfortable. The room I was in had a problem with hot water. Spoke to the management to be told that they did not have a large hot water tank and I should wait for a while. The fridge was so noisy that I could not sleep and...

We stayed at this hotel only because every other hotel in Cairns was booked out. This was the last hotel available. We arrived with low expectations only to be pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large, freshly painted and spotlessly clean. Good quality linen, pillows and towels. Everything worked well and the location was quiet except for the inevitable aircraft noise...

Nothing fancy, just comfortable, clean and well-priced motel. One block back from the esplanade walk, 20 min walk to the marina, a couple of blocks from the hospital. We found it well positioned for our needs, enjoyed the walks each morning to the town centre for tours or shopping. Pool was clean and well maintained, traffic noise was low, bed...

If you are looking for a cheap clean but very basic 1970 style motel very close to the Cairns Hospital then this would suit. Our room was missing a few working lights and management looked at this straight away when informed. The motel is located within easy walking distance to Cairns Esplanade and about a 20 minute walk in to...

We have recently relocated to Cairns, and when we first arrived we needed a 'no-fuss, budget place' to stay for 8 nights while we looked for a suitable apartment to lease. We chose the Tropical Queenslander and it met all our needs. It might not be 5 star, but the service was excellent, our room was clean and regularly serviced,...

Loved it here. Great value and includes breakfast. Rooms are nice and clean and reception staff are very helpful. Close to airport and city. Would defiantly recommend. Only suggestion is that the add hair conditioner! My family and I will be back!

We stayed here for 5 nights last week,( it being a last minute choice after our pre-booked hotel lost our booking). We are so glad we chose this place. The manager was very welcoming and helpful to our weary bones. The room was very clean and roomy, serviced daily. The beds were **awesomely** comfortable. the best beds on our entire...
