super super exceptional acommodation for the price. Scones for breakfast were great, taxi booking to airport and other staff support helpful too, wall of cairns tour brochures good. Location near tons of restaurants and not far from sea side, solid facilities and kitchen. Most perfect part of cairns trip
We booked 8 months in advance and the hotel took our payment a few days before arrival and whilst I had advised our arrival time and received an acknowledgment a month prior when we arrived there were no rooms available. The manager said there was a Booking.com problem then blamed a change of ownership and that everything was full throughout Cairns and the cheapest was at least $100 dearer - BUT surprise surprise after searching for us for hours throughout town a friend had a place down the road who could take us and she would cover the difference! I inspected the place probably a 2 star rating and found it unsatisfactory so back to face the manager at Cairns City Palms. Whilst in discussion with her another guest heard of the issue and kindly offered us use of her suite as they were not going to be using it the night of our stay. After some unpleasant discussion the manager agreed to the solution and at my insistence provided our good Samaritan with a refund of the nights rate we had paid. Win win! Disliked · We LIKED the kindness of our fellow guest - but otherwise there is absolutely NOTHING else to recommend this hotel!…
I struggle to understand the 4.5 rating of this hotel on Tripadvisor. My experience has been quite different. The only pros I can find is that the room is very self sufficient. Small but has nearly everything required for a week stay. There were multiple challenges I had during my stay. I was particularly unhappy with the attitude of the staff and I rate the service as poor. The clock in the room stopped working. We asked for the battery to be replaced but it stopped again the next day. Room makeup forgot body wash. Car park was very full on Fri and Sat nights but when I asked what I can do when I found no parking spot, staff gave me a shrug and said "It's always been like that", implying I need to sort it out myself. Location was probably 3/5 but it was very noisy and there was a road work right in front of the hotel. I'm sure with that money I can find another place with better service.…
The staff were very friendly and customer focused. Late check out allowed. Room was very clean. Good location. Free Wi-fi. Free scones, Jam and cream yummy. Plus free pod coffee bonus. Will book again. Thank you
Wifi when travelling is very important to us so we always check that it is available. This place says it is but don't believe it - it crashes more than it runs. Room is a king motel room, hard kingsize bed, chipped tiles, free ants and cockroaches. Right on highway and close to airport; do here traffic and planes but does not affect too much. Cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. Will look elsewhere next time.
Although this wouldn't fit my idea for dream holiday accommodation due to it being on a busy street without a sea or garden view, I must say I can understand the great reviews. The price for the excellent service we received really was value for money. A big shoutout especially to the cleaners who always left our rooms spotless over the 3 nights we were there and who had little floral arrangements throughout our room, including on our made up beds. The complimentory scones, cream, jam, along with coffee/tea that were available in the morning was a great treat. I think the owner is setting a standard of service that other motels in this price range might consider. The accommodation was booked out every night, and I'm not surprised. Worth all of these great reviews. Well done Cairns City Palms.…
We’re currently staying at the Cairns City Palms. We’ve been here for for nights already and will be here for another four nights. This place is absolutely great. I can’t compliment the staff highly enough. All staff including receptionist, cleaners etc have been wonderful. The place is very clean. This is the cleanest room we have found anywhere during our travels. We will definitely come back here next year. Well done to everyone concerned. By the way, morning scones were great!!
With so many look alike motels on Sheridan, we booked this on the excellent TA reviews. This is the one. Great value for spacious spotless updated room. Finally a firm fresh king bed after a week of wok-like tiny queen beds. Kitchenette perfect for small meal preps, nice Thai decorative touches, friendly fast check in, tidy bbq area, 2 blocks from Esplanade. Rooms at the back are quiet, we were upstairs across bbq area. Staff helpful and unobtrusive. Scones in the mornings, free coffee all day, public kitchen next to reception where you can use a large fridge to store food, freeze ice blocks etc. All very helpful amenities. We had door at the back of room with balcony so you’d get a nice breeze thru the unit. Stay here, you won’t regret it.
Wow. You get a great room very clean and fresh with heaps of included features, kitchen and equipment, beautiful decor, comfortable beds. nice bbq area. staff amazing and friendly. Good location. Would stay again and wish we had stayed sooner
Stayed one night in a king room prior to heading north to the Daintree and we were very impressed. The reception staff were welcoming and warm, and the room more than met our expectations given the very reasonable tariff. Hats off to the housekeeping staff too as the room was immaculate. The mattress on the king bed was fantastic, the Aircon and ceiling fan efficient and the kitchen area was again spotlessly cleaned and had everything we needed to make a simple breakfast. We stayed on the ground floor and parked our car at the front of the room. Although this is obviously and older motel, it is well loved and maintained and the staff are doing a great job.
