Detailed Reviews
Although this wouldn't fit my idea for dream holiday accommodation due to it being on a busy street without a sea or garden view, I must say I can understand the great reviews. The price for the excellent service we received really was value for money. A big shoutout especially to the cleaners who always left our rooms spotless over the 3 nights we were there and who had little floral arrangements throughout our room, including on our made up beds. The complimentory scones, cream, jam, along with coffee/tea that were available in the morning was a great treat. I think the owner is setting a standard of service that other motels in this price range might consider. The accommodation was booked out every night, and I'm not surprised. Worth all of these great reviews. Well done Cairns City Palms.

Stayed one night in a king room prior to heading north to the Daintree and we were very impressed.
The reception staff were welcoming and warm, and the room more than met our expectations given the very reasonable tariff.
Hats off to the housekeeping staff too as the room was immaculate. The mattress on the king bed was fantastic, the Aircon and ceiling fan efficient and the kitchen area was again spotlessly cleaned and had everything we needed to make a simple breakfast.
We stayed on the ground floor and parked our car at the front of the room.
Although this is obviously and older motel, it is well loved and maintained and the staff are doing a great job.

Just wanted to Thank Lina and Staff and particular mention to Cheri and Angela for taking care of our business stay ,which was quite extensive.
The Front counter catered for every request from Scanning Docs to emailing and sourcing info.
We had the pleasure in staying in many self contained configurations/ catering for 3/5 persons with great views and ALWAYS a serviced room each day. Greeted by a friendly smile and chat from all the ground staff. WELL Done, also the best location to every and any takeaway/food/convenience/liquor and not forgetting THE BEST Pub in Cairns, Cock & Bull
Once again Thankyou for making the stay most memorable/don't forget the Morning Scones & Cream/Perk coffees.
Love it Cheers Jim Briz Pool Co

We booked 8 months in advance and the hotel took our payment a few days before arrival and whilst I had advised our arrival time and received an acknowledgment a month prior when we arrived there were no rooms available.
The manager said there was a Booking.com problem then blamed a change of ownership and that everything was full throughout Cairns and the cheapest was at least $100 dearer - BUT surprise surprise after searching for us for hours throughout town a friend had a place down the road who could take us and she would cover the difference!
I inspected the place probably a 2 star rating and found it unsatisfactory so back to face the manager at Cairns City Palms. Whilst in discussion with her another guest heard of the issue and kindly offered us use of her suite as they were not going to be using it the night of our stay.
After some unpleasant discussion the manager agreed to the solution and at my insistence provided our good Samaritan with a refund of the nights rate we had paid. Win win!
Disliked · We LIKED the kindness of our fellow guest - but otherwise there is absolutely NOTHING else to recommend this hotel!

Wonderful! We arrived very late at night as arranged, key was securely left for us. The room was lit up and easy to locate, luckily, as it was pelting rain! Most comfortable king bed, room was spotless, shower had great pressure. In the guest lounge next morning it was a pleasure to partake of complimentary scones jam and cream, along with coffee, tea and juice. We relaxed in the lounge and watched tv (still raining😔) until our transport arrived. Very friendly and efficient service from Sheree on the front desk. Thank you for a great stay.

+1
I saw ‘Cairns City’ in the title & booked, but don’t be fooled like I was as the motel is up in Cairns North, a good 15 minute walk from the Cairns CBD & Esplanade area. The view from my apartment was the Cairns State High football field on Sheridan Street. That said, the motel was decent for the price charged ($180 a night in peak season) and the Wi-fi was strong which was important as I was working remotely for a full day from my room. It’s by no means a modern motel but the room size was adequate & had everything I needed for a short 2 night stay. The room was well prepped, with a fresh tropical coconut fragrance as you walk in. There is a bit of noise from the Main Street outside and you can hear other guests next door from time to time but overall nothing too distracting. There were cafes & shops nearby within walking distance including a bakery 5 minutes up the road which does espresso coffee. But it is not a city motel & without a car it’s a hike to get to the Cairns esplanade/lagoon area where tourists normally go. On the first night I walked into town & saw the laser light show installed for the Cairns Festival near the Pier Bar & had a massage treatment at Foot & Body in Orchid Plaza.

The City Palms Cairns is poorly maintained and really showing its age. From the peeling paint to the rickety exterior staircases, it really needs a complete overhaul.
The shower recess in my room was dirty and the rooms were not serviced ever though they advertise as such. I tested them by leaving my towel on the floor for replacement as instructed. It was still there when I returned.
To cap it all off the second last night of my stay there was screaming in the early hours, just enough to make sure you were fully awake, but that was nothing compared to the final night when the screaming came again and this time was accompanied by car engines revving and a lot of yelling.
No amount of free scones with jam and cream for breakfast would induce me to spend another night there.

Wifi when travelling is very important to us so we always check that it is available. This place says it is but don't believe it - it crashes more than it runs.
Room is a king motel room, hard kingsize bed, chipped tiles, free ants and cockroaches.
Right on highway and close to airport; do here traffic and planes but does not affect too much.
Cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. Will look elsewhere next time.

With so many look alike motels on Sheridan, we booked this on the excellent TA reviews. This is the one. Great value for spacious spotless updated room. Finally a firm fresh king bed after a week of wok-like tiny queen beds. Kitchenette perfect for small meal preps, nice Thai decorative touches, friendly fast check in, tidy bbq area, 2 blocks from Esplanade. Rooms at the back are quiet, we were upstairs across bbq area. Staff helpful and unobtrusive. Scones in the mornings, free coffee all day, public kitchen next to reception where you can use a large fridge to store food, freeze ice blocks etc. All very helpful amenities. We had door at the back of room with balcony so you’d get a nice breeze thru the unit. Stay here, you won’t regret it.

Paula and the staff went above and beyond to help my family when we were stranded in Cairns due to flooding in Nth Qld. Paula was under the pump with no phones and internet down due to flooding but still managed to be so professional I would highly recommend a stay at Cairns City Palms and I thank her and the friendly welcoming staff who assisted to made our stay relaxing.
