My husband and I stayed here yesterday for 1 night before our flight out of Brisbane.
We arrived around 3pm to check in which was uneventful. (NOTE: they take $20/pp as a key deposit.)
We were in a large dorm (room 3) which had at least 6 bunks. The room smelt like cheesy feet and was a bit of a mess, as you'd probably expect.
There were large lockers available, but I dont think too many guests bothered to use them.
The beds were really comfortable. I was a little surprised that we had a full duvet on each bunk, but it was so cosy and not overly thick. Temp was good in the room at all times. My main complaint in room 3 is that there are large windows high up in the wall which do not have blinds or curtains. The neighbours lights shine directly into the dorm meaning it was too light up until quite late when the next door building turned their lights off.
The kitchen is pretty small meaning that it was a little cramped getting our breakfast in the morning. Brekkie free to guests includes toast and cereal.
Location is pretty central. We used the cities rentable scooters and uber to get around as we travelled a little further afield.
I did not use the showers here as they didnt appear particularly clean. Toilets were fine.
Roof terrace at the hostel was closed during our visit.
Nice for a 1 or 2 nights stay I would say.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 1 night as part of our back packing travels. We arrived late due to our flight and left early in the morning because of our bus so we didn’t use the facilities much. The room was good and beds comfy. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were powerful but not overly hot. I went into the kitchen once and it was a state, nobody had cleared up and it was very very dirty but I did see it being cleaned to an immaculate standard the next day so not the hostels fault. The reception were very friendly and it is only a 10 minute walk from the bus/train station so location was perfect for what we wanted.

some staff clearly lacked the sense of hospitality, the TV room upstairs smelt vomit and never been cleaned, the dining area was essentially a table opposite the reception which was not super cozy plus the rooftop was shut for months cause of some flooding and other stuff

Me and my friend booked to stay here for 2 nights,It was the worst 2 nights of my life. There was 4 of us in a 4x4 box with 1 tiny window and BROKEN AIRCON keep in mind it’s 35 degrees outside. All 4 of us had to take it in turns to use the cold shower from 3am-5am. The heat was unbearable! We reported it to reception and her response was “I will have a look in 2 minutes” then 3 hours later she came to check it when we were out for dinner. I would understand if they were busy however they were just sat there. When we came back from dinner we had asked if she had had a look at the aircon the receptionists response was “yeh it’s broken.” “sorry” l. We weren’t offered a fan or anything to solve the issue. The next day we spoke to 2 different people who we’re quite helpful tried to find a fan however they couldn’t find one and then another person from reception showed us how to use the aircon (which we already knew) and it continued to pump out hot air. We had a room with an en-suite, in the bathroom there was a wooden door that is locked that separates 2 rooms and we could just hear boys shouting all night and the bathroom smelt so badly of mens urine. The bathroom was also dirty having black hair stuck in the drain before any of us had used the shower. So yeah wouldn’t recomend unless you want to be cooked alive in your sleep. Also no blind on the window if you were to get to sleep your awaking up at 5am anyways.

Absolute dump from start to finish. No light in room, no air-conditioning and kitchen was a sauna with pots and a dirty sink. Place was like a prison. If I'm ever in Brisbane again and this was the only hostel available I'd sleep on the street. Kip.

I booked here 3 nights to visit Brisbane as well as attending the NRL State of Origin at Suncorp Stadium with 2 friends.

At check-in when asked for our passports I said that we are all Australians, we were then told this backpackers was for international people only. I refused to accept this and said I had been in contact prior to arrival and also when you book through Booking dot com it displays where you are from so it should've been acted on prior to our arrival.

It also does not mention that Australians are not welcome anywhere on the 3rd party websites.

So the gent that was serving me walked off after I said we were all Australian and the lady at the desk was left to deal with us. She did mention that they did allow Aussie people to stay there for boxing match at Suncorp weeks prior, she said no one tells her anything. Obviously a big communication breakdown.

Eventually we were granted access after tbey checked what I assume were the notes on the system.

We didn't use their facilities or the breakfast that was on offer as first contact ruined our experience.

The staff were generally friendly.

If you are Australian then probably best to look elsewhere. I did make a second booking with a backpackers in the same neighbourhood for other guests of mine, they had absolutely no problems checking in.

The location was great. Easy access to the CBD (10 minutes walk), 15 minutes walk to Suncorp Stadium and a few hundred metres from the train station.

The backpackers were friendly too, good vibes.

However as an Australian I would not be recommending this backpackers.

My advice would to the company is to make it clear that you do not accept Australians, I understand that this may bring about negative feedback, however, it will bring you less negative reviews as people would prefer honestly as opposed to turning up to be humiliated in front of your friends.

I would assume this to be the same for the rest of their properties around Australia.

Good for international travellers.

Plenty of backpackers in close proximity to each other.

I've stayed in this hostel a few times over a few weeks. Always had the same great experience! A friend recommended it to me and it really is the nearest thing to a home I could find while traveling. Very clean, friendly and lots of people to chat with.

The hostel makes a huge effort to put things on in the day and night. Pub crawls, Italian nights, Mexicans nights, free walking tours and beach days. The list goes on. They have this all on a board in reception.

The main reception is made up of seats, Peterpans (to book trips PS nice staff), a TV lounge upstairs and the kitchen. My only wish would be that the kitchen was a tiny bit bigger. Gets busy on Italian nights.

The rooms vary from 20 beds to 4 beds (with ensuite). The prices match. And I slept in a number of these different rooms. And all of them had enough room, lockers for my kit and it all felt comfortable. Even the 20 bed room which can be harder when sharing with so many people.

It's clear that everyone likes this place like me. It's generally always busy so book ahead.

I can't say anything negative. I really enjoyed it and couldn't wish for anything better. Loved it!

Free WiFi across the hostel. Very good considering most hostels charge. And the bandwidth is good enough for anything you might need to do.

Was fine. Stayed in a 10 bed dorm which was a decent enough size. The worst thing was the bathrooms - there was usually a queue for the showers, and the bathrooms were generally unclean. Other than that it was fine- wasn't too noisy and was in the general hostels area.

Stayed for a night on the way to the gold coast. The price was right and the location was good. Staff were friendly and efficient and the place was tidy.

Rooms had good bedding and I had a power socket right next to the bed which was really handy. Free breakfast in the morning and I was on my way.

Can't ask for more.

Small kitchen.
Good staff.
Great community.
Crazy management. I was kicked out with no previous warning because we were drinking and making noise at 11.30pm on a Friday, though it’s only allowed till 11pm, but nobody took the responsibility to tell us to stop or be quiet.
Abusive authority.
