Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I loved this place when I stayed here a few months ago. The functional quirky industrial style appealed. I have arrived after driving 1600 kms to Canberra and another 1600kms on my way to Rockhampton stopping in Brisbane. Elevator out of order. Bunk does not treat returning customers kindly!

Property's Favourite Review
stayed there for a night or two a few times while going through Brisbane during various trips, the place has got a few levels so it feels like being in a submarine, walking through corridors after corridors to get to your room, definitely a good location though, I mean you've got the CBD (10 min walk) on one side and the valley - which is the heart of the Brisbane nightlife just underneath the building pretty much.

Bunk Brisbane was a disappointment. Rooms had windows that don't open. Hypoxic conditions in rooms with limited ventilation. Beds creaked and were poor quality. Shower had no hot water. Australian girl on reception with tatoos was arrogant when I asked for information. Photos do not represent the true nature of hostel facilities. It appears that the photos are out of date by many years. I recommend you don't come here.

Location is good, right in the valley however we chose this accommodation due to the photos of the pool. Arrived expecting to cool off and mingle by the pool, only to be told they haven’t had a pool for years 😳 Very disappointing, this is false advertising

Great location, staff were nice and great vibe, probably could get a nicer flat for $85/night (got the private en-suite but literally had a tiny room with a bunk bed, a toilet and shower. No way you can open the windows for fresh air so a bit stuffy. Get free entry to borders so that’s pretty good!

Some of the staff are quite rude and unhelpful particularly the one called Kylie. Cockroaches found in the bedrooms and dirty sheets . Rooms are not the nicest and the shower was terrible in my room as it was not hot and was like a dribble.

Just checked out. Me and my girlfriend stayed two nights. First night sweet as, great deals, fairly private rooms for a hostel. Clean and great amenities. Second night just gone a couple of issues with bunk mates. But Thomas on reception at night and Tommy this morning responded immediately and were fantastic dealing with the issues. Got an extra 30 mins sleep in as they let us check out a little later. Will definitely be back! Great place and an even greater team running it 🙏

If you are looking for a hostel where staff mistreat you, guests are drunk and doing drugs on premises then this is the hostel for you! This is one of the most difficult reviews I have ever had to compose. But the treatment by Bunk Brisbane is appalling. Part of my occupation is reviewing. I only leave a negative review when it is essential. It is hard not to turn this review into a novel. I will keep it short as I can. I have stayed in hundreds of hostels and this hostel takes the prize for worst treatment in history. I even booked a second stay hoping Bunk might redeem itself so I don’t have to write this review, sadly it didn’t change anything. Staff treated me like a pain in backside from the second I entered, my assumption here is because they had to take a pause from socialising. Bunk are willing to leave you stranded. Apparently, a passport is required to check in. This I understand, but I am Australian, and I have just travelled for days to get to Brisbane and my Passport was located in another state of Australia. Staff would not accept my Australian issued driver’s license. Staff demanded I sit down while I try to pull a passport out of ass. Nowhere on the booking agent site was it mentioned that a passport is essential for check in. The staff member told me it was booking.com error and they will have it rectified and management contact me. To this day this has not happened. If you look at Hostelworld, Booking.com and the Bunk website you will notice that the hostel polices are not uniformed. Updating information on booking.com is simple, I have done it before. The bottom line is I have been lied to & treated badly. As for the bedrooms, the former reviews answer these. Cold showers, broken air-conditioning & the reading lights are non-existent. This was the same in both bedrooms I have stayed in. I even had to purchase my own fan. I suggest Bunk actually action the reviews from guests as the same issues are continuously mentioned. Regards Alex

This place is not a good idea if you just arrived in Australia. It's noisy ( you have music every night) , internet it's expensive and don't work properly on the rooms . Dont' go there for a first experience in a hostel but if you want a party hostel it's a very good place and you are directly on Fortitude Valley for party outside. The staff is very nice and helpfull.

I’m not someone to write review but this is the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in! Since arriving we have had so many problems, we don’t feel safe, the staff are rude, the rooms are not ideal at all. As 2 young travellers and this being a hostel with guest of a young age the staff have a duty of care to make sure you feel comfortable and safe that has not been the case and we’ve had the worst experience ever! They allowed a woman with no identification to stay into the hostel who was also living out of plastic bags and who was very clearly mentally unstable which the receptions staff were aware of and picked up on but still allowed her to be around young people in an unstate frame of mine. Once reporting as was not safe we had to leave the hostel and book a hotel for the night so we were the once who were inconvenienced. We spoke with the manager and they lied to us about the situation taken advantage of the fact we are young girls, we have then had to pay more money and move rooms 3 times they staff have not been friendly towards us given not once ounce of sympathy for the stress and unsettlement they have caused us staying at bunk Brisbane has put my off hostels for life and I will never return to the hostel due to the lack of safety here.
