Lucerne on Fernberg is a real gem. It really is an oasis near the centre of Brisbane. I was very impressed with the kitchen stocked with everything for breakfast including the best eggs laid by the cutest on site free range (during the day) chickens. Comes with an egg cooker that makes poaching your eggs a breeze. Such a treat. Helen was a thoughtful host and Rose Cottage was a delight to stay in. Can't wait to return next time I need somewhere to stay in Brisbane. Its close to the train station, and about 20 minutes walk to the Milton Ferry Terminal - a really nice way to get to the City, Southbank, or New Farm Park - a must weekend experience in my view - with the City Cat ferries. Found an express bus to the Gabba for the cricket too nearby - opposite the Paddo Tavern. Thanks again for the great experience.

We have just spent a fabulous week at Lucerne. The property is in a perfect location close to the shops, bars and restaurants of Rosalie Village, Milton and Paddington. Just a 10/15 minute walk away is the Milton Citicat Ferry which not only takes you along the Brisbane River to the heart of the city but is also a great way of seeing Brisbane from a different perspective. Everything is on your doorstep but the peace and quiet at the property itself is so relaxing. The accommodation is first class. A gorgeous cottage, beautifully furnished in the grounds of the main house 'Lucerne'. In the cottage itself a spacious and well equipped kitchen area made preparing light meals a pleasure. The main area offers comfortable seating with a TV (if wanted) and dining table and chairs. The magnificent bed was so comfortable, we slept incredibly well. The en suite shower room is large and very well equipped. We loved sitting out on our own little deck at the end of the day watching the sun go down and enjoying the peace, overlooking the beautiful garden. All in all, Rose Cottage was a perfect retreat at the end of a day's sightseeing. Finally, a mention to the owners Brian and Helen. They were incredibly welcoming and generous ensuring that we had everything we needed and much more. We were sad to leave, couldn't fault anything and will definitely return.

We just spent a most enjoyable and memorable five nights in Rose Cottage, located in the inner Brisbane suburb of Paddington. The Cottage is within the grounds of historic Lucerne House, and is wonderfully appointed. The bathroom is excellent and set up such as would be convenient for elderly or people struggling physically. The bed is very very comfortable, top class really. The whole layout of the place is logical, comprehensive, and leaves nothing to be desired, with kitchenette of high end appointment. I so enjoyed sitting out on the porch in the mornings looking over towards the CBD, reading the newspaper which was generously provided. Access to washing machine also highly valued and appreciated. We were made extremely welcome by the charming Megan and her most friendly and interesting menagerie of dogs, cats and chickens, all with varying and quirky personalities! Night time was very quiet, great sleeps. The Paddington area is extremely interesting, with lots of nearby shops, markets, cafes, restaurants, hotels. The lot! Also very close to Brisbane CBD, short bus trip, even walk. All in all, the perfect place to stay for our first trip to Brisbane. Very very highly recommended!!

We stayed at the Rose Cottage and have nothing to fault. The amenities were perfectly kept and had a great ambience . The gardens were tranquil and yet, we were only minutes away from the urban hub with a variety of gorgeous cafes and bistros to tickle our tastebuds. The hosts were more than accommodating and highly exceeded our expectations. What a wonderful place! We have no hesitation in recommending this place to all our friends. We will definitely be back. 5 stars to this wonderful B&B, could not have asked for a better experience!

I've been staying at Lucerne for a few years now - so sorry about the slow review. I just love staying here. I am comfortable, close to the City and great restaurants everywhere, have great hosts and breakfasts direct from the free-ranging chooks in the spacious backyard. The bird calls are incredible from pre-dawn.....yet I am soo close to the City and in such an historic residence. My uncle - in his late 80s says - there are 2 types of people in this world - the givers and the takers - well Brian and Helen are the givers of this world.

Rose cottage is tucked away in the gardens of the old house called 'Lucerne'. The oldest continually inhabited house in Brisbane. It has character, a brilliant location, exemplary hosts and a warmth that made it a wonderful place to be in. Could not recommend highly enough.

We stayed a week at Lucerne on Fernberg in Rose Cottage and were very happy with our stay! The BnB has everything you can wish for - it's very cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is fully equipped and a good breakfast is provided - including lovely eggs from the family's hens. Brian is also very helpful in providing local advice about Brisbane and even showed us around the local festival and picked us up and dropped us off at the bus-station. Service that is very much appreciated! The family also has a nice cat and a lovely dog that like to come by for a chat. The BnB is in a great neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, bars, nice cafés and vintage shops - at a convenient distance to the city centre. If we come back to Brisbane we'd definitely come and stay at Lucerne on Fernberg again!

Very friendly, very helpful. Brian went out of his way to make sure our stay was exceptional. The cottage is well maintained while respecting the history of the property. I would definitely stay here again.

This B and B is a fabulous find for anyone seeking a little peace and quiet from the City hubbub. Brian and Helen make you feel extremely welcome from the first contact and are wonderfully helpful and friendly to help ensure your stay is smooth and easy. The cottages are lovely. The kitchen facilities for your breakfast hamper makes breakfast simple and the home grown eggs are the added bonus. Thank you all for a great stay and your hospitality. We will be back and can certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone.

This was our first experience at a B&B, and it was a positive experience. Brian, the owner, is very accommodating and kind. He has an impressive property, with a high, vine-covered wall on the perimeter facing the street – I felt like we could survive a riot! Our living area was very spacious, homey, and clean. And the kitchen was well-stocked for self-prepared breakfasts. Brian’s personal touches really made a difference – he gave us a ride one day to an attraction; took us to a scenic look-out; and even invited us to an outdoor breakfast with his family (which was delish!). It was also fun to interact with the family pets....especially Jetta the dog. This B&B is not too far from the XXXX Brewery. Aside from the rides we got from Brian, we walked everywhere (including to the Wheel of Brisbane; Story Bridge; the shops on Queen St.; and even Boggo Road Gaol (prison) south of the city. While we loved the walking, some may find these hikes too far by foot. Thanks again, Brian!
