We have just spent a fabulous week at Lucerne. The property is in a perfect location close to the shops, bars and restaurants of Rosalie Village, Milton and Paddington. Just a 10/15 minute walk away is the Milton Citicat Ferry which not only takes you along the Brisbane River to the heart of the city but is also a great way of seeing Brisbane from a different perspective. Everything is on your doorstep but the peace and quiet at the property itself is so relaxing.
The accommodation is first class. A gorgeous cottage, beautifully furnished in the grounds of the main house 'Lucerne'.
In the cottage itself a spacious and well equipped kitchen area made preparing light meals a pleasure. The main area offers comfortable seating with a TV (if wanted) and dining table and chairs. The magnificent bed was so comfortable, we slept incredibly well. The en suite shower room is large and very well equipped. We loved sitting out on our own little deck at the end of the day watching the sun go down and enjoying the peace, overlooking the beautiful garden.
All in all, Rose Cottage was a perfect retreat at the end of a day's sightseeing.
Finally, a mention to the owners Brian and Helen. They were incredibly welcoming and generous ensuring that we had everything we needed and much more.
We were sad to leave, couldn't fault anything and will definitely return.

We were tired of sterile hotels and outrageous prices. We wanted something very special and unique. This is amazing. It's now my official home away from home. In fact our lodgings were amazingly self sufficient and very very spacious. It's an oasis of history, chickens, dogs, and tranquility. We got freshly laid eggs and a wonderful sense of tranquility and harmony with nature. And so close to trains, delis, the cbd and ferry. 10 out of 10 to Helen and Brian.

Helen was absolutely lovely to us. We were in between places and need somewhere to stay in brisbane and she came to the rescue. We actually used both the rose cottage and the coach house and they are both gorgeous, clean and cosy. Lucerne is pretty central and it's only 10 min to Milton station. Can't recommend highly enough.

This is a new B&B. Brian who owns the adjacent property (which is one of the oldest in Brisbane still in private hands) has built the separate studioes with superb attention to detail. They contain a small kitchen area (which is well stocked with snacks and breakfast items) and then upstairs is a lovely double bedroom (v comfy!), lounge area (incl flat screen tv / sound system) and bathroom. Air con newly installed. They are around Rosalie / Paddington so close to lots of restaurants on Fernberg. Would definitely recommend for a relaxed stay in a more residential location.

When I visit Brisbane again I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else since staying at this bed and breakfast called Lucerne on Fernburg Road, which is in Paddington in Brisbane. The hospitality I recieved from the hosts was warm and welcoming. I have travelled alot and I would have to say they offer the best hospitality I have ever known. The cottages at Lucerne are a home away home and in good walking distances to numerous cafes, restaurants and shops and easy walking to public transport to get into the city. Even though it is located near the city, at Lucerne you feel safe and nutured. And the gardens are lovely. I would highly reccomend staying here to anyone.

We past through Brisbane on the way back from the UK to New Zealand and stayed at Lucerne for four days.

The owners Brian and Helen have created a lovely hideaway in the city with two beautiful self-contained cottages near the main house. The rooms are immaculate, the bed very comfortable, kitchenette great. Everything was beautifully presented and the attention to detail was fantastic. We have a 3 1/2 year old and were in the coach house. We put our daughter to sleep in the double room and closed the partioned sliding doors and could watch TV in the lounge. Perfect for parents, much better than a hotel room you can't escape from.

On a personal side Brian and Helen are wonderful hosts so hospitable and long suffering (in our case) Even when we had completed our stay they were happy to keep in touch. Real fair dinkum folk!!

This B and B is a fabulous find for anyone seeking a little peace and quiet from the City hubbub. Brian and Helen make you feel extremely welcome from the first contact and are wonderfully helpful and friendly to help ensure your stay is smooth and easy. The cottages are lovely. The kitchen facilities for your breakfast hamper makes breakfast simple and the home grown eggs are the added bonus. Thank you all for a great stay and your hospitality. We will be back and can certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone.

This was our first experience at a B&B, and it was a positive experience.

Brian, the owner, is very accommodating and kind. He has an impressive property, with a high, vine-covered wall on the perimeter facing the street – I felt like we could survive a riot!

Our living area was very spacious, homey, and clean. And the kitchen was well-stocked for self-prepared breakfasts.

Brian’s personal touches really made a difference – he gave us a ride one day to an attraction; took us to a scenic look-out; and even invited us to an outdoor breakfast with his family (which was delish!).

It was also fun to interact with the family pets....especially Jetta the dog.

This B&B is not too far from the XXXX Brewery. Aside from the rides we got from Brian, we walked everywhere (including to the Wheel of Brisbane; Story Bridge; the shops on Queen St.; and even Boggo Road Gaol (prison) south of the city. While we loved the walking, some may find these hikes too far by foot.

Thanks again, Brian!

My husband and I just stayed here for our honeymoon and we were thrilled with everything that this charming B&B had to offer!

First off, booking was VERY easy. We simply emailed the dates of our stay, and everything was ready for us upon arrival. When we arrived at Lucerne, Brian, one of the owners, was kind enough to give us a tour and take us to a very beautiful overlook of Brisbane. We got to know him and his family that evening, and had a great time socializing.

In terms of the actual B&B, the grounds are beautiful. We were treated to fresh eggs, cheeses, and other treats for breakfast, which was wonderful. Our cottage was clean, comfortable and pretty spacious with an adorable bedroom, sitting area and a small downstairs kitchen area. It was very romantic and offers just the right setting to come back and enjoy a bottle of wine after a long day of exploring.

Brian was a great host - he loaned us his metro card to use on the trains, saving us money, and he even gave us a ride to the airport, which really was above and beyond.

Overall, this place is a hidden gem. The owners are kind and generous and you won't find a more charming and quiet place to stay and get away from it all. I cannot wait to return one day!

I stayed for 2 nights at Lucerne and found it was very positive. From the initial contact and booking through to my arrival and the actual accomodation, I found Brian to be friendly, prompt and very helpful. It had everything I needed and was done with style and attention to detail. Brian loaned me a "Go card" to use on the public transport system which was a great help. Everything looked just as the photos on trip advisor show.

"The Coach House was just perfect for my daughter and I to stay in, as stairs are not a problem for either of us. But the larger, and slightly more expensive, Rose Cottage is even more charming and is handicapped accessible as well."
