Very basic but good for the price. Owner was friendly and explained everything. Could come and go as you pleased as you are given access to the building. Comfy bed and great air con units. Just a bit run down looking due to its age. Shared toilets were ok

Absolutely perfect location when travelling with dogs! So affordable and just excellent with the room for our big dog and us. The last thing you want when travelling with dogs is a high maintenance or fancy room. This room had everything we needed and a great location. Parking can be limited with oversized vehicles but there is room nearby and two or three open air parks.

I'm writing this on the free internet at the Kingsford. This is a great spot. Close to everything, bus stop outside the door and Downtown in 5 minutes. The beds are comfortable beds, rooms have big screen TVs and a balcony overlooking the river. Breakfast is pretty good and you can eat as much as you want!
We found the place on the Internet and emailed a few questions which were accurately answered and very helpful.
I'm surprised to see some of the negative comments on previous posts. It's a budget hotel but it has a high level of facilities - Free Internet, Free breakfast, computer, printer, fax, also free parking. I've paid nearly as much to park my car in some places as I have for my whole stay at Kingsford Riverside Inn. This place is serious value for money and it's comfortable and pleasant as well.
The hotel is well maintained. Fresh paintwork, clean carpets and the toilets are immaculate.
The managers Olinda and Joe are lovely people and are obviously proud of the place and enjoy dealing with people.
We haven't found as nice a place to stay in a very long time and it's hard to believe you can stay in a hotel on the riverbank in a Capital City at such a good price.
We'll be back!

The photos on the site do not show what an awful place this is. The manager is rude...even when there isn't an issue. We were worried that we would be late for check in so called ahead and enquired what should we do if we were going to be late. Manager didnt listen and put our key in the after hours box. We got there before they closed and he argued with us that we had told him we were going to be late... which was not true.
He did however find us a room on the second floor instead of the third floor as I was on crutches...although that wouldn't have been required if there had been a lift. The furnishings are tired and worn paint chipped everywhere...the carpets stained and stink of deodoriser. The air conditioner was filthy. No toilet or shower in the room. Not even a microwave. No bedside table...had to put my coffee on the floor beside the bed to drink it in bed. Private balcony gave a lovely view of the BP service station and the rally driving idiots on Kingsford-Smith drive who kept us awake most of the night with the noise and lights that the inadequate curtains didn't block out. Not enough parking and none is safe or secure. No soap in the communal bathroom. Not even a dispenser for washing your hands. So had to take soap with me to the toilet. No shampoo or conditioner in the room either. No microwave in the room. A communal area I guess would have all of the cooking requirements but I couldn't even find that room. Their disclaimer that it is pet friendly and the only one that offers this is not true. Airways Motel at Ascot is closer to the airport and is pet friendly also and was better equipped with nice staff and the rooms were cheaper and it has a pool. It's basically false advertising as the rooms look very nice online but that certainly wasn't our experience. We will never stay here again and I don't understand how they can call it budget when I could book the Mercure for $175 for the night and this was $160. Boy do I wish we had stayed at the Mercure. Do yourself a favour and run don't walk away from this place...it's a dump!

The place is a disgusting filthy dump. Owner/manager is a nasty arrogant and rude individual that clearly doesn't care about his customers in the least. My room didn't have A/C even though the hotel description says it has it. I was sweltering in 27 degree heat. When I called and spoke to owner/manager he said "that's what you paid for". He also called me a whiner after which several choice words were exchanged. There's only about 5 park spots for a hotel with almost 30 rooms and the nearest on street parking is quite far away. The hotel description states "parking yes, subject to availability". That's almost funny.

Booked the pet friendly room thinking it would be similar to rooms shown in photos on the website. BIG MISTAKE.
Arrived, greeted by a very rude man. Was shown the room and ended up leaving in under 5 minutes.
If you want a view of your partner going for a dump from the bed, it would be perfect. I have never seen anything like it. There was a small shower curtain to block the view. There were also dead cockroaches on the floor on arrival.

When we let the man know we were not staying he was extremely rude (we let him know politely that the room was not for us and weren't asking for a refund).

I am not one to leave negative feedback but I strongly advise people to avoid this place - I was absolutely mortified.

We ended up finding a beautiful pet friendly place up the road.

Very Rude Customer Service Rep, asked a very simple question and received a blunt and rude response. Please see attached conversation through Booking.com. Would not stay there on principal. Hopefully this was a receptionist and not the Manager!

The WORST business I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with! Disgusting customer service from owner/manager and not at all accomodating given the circumstances. Travelled over 7 hours and due to road closures and road works we were delayed and could not make it to reception before 8pm closing. Just after 8:30 arrived to checkin and was yelled at and abused by manager and refused entry. After a day travelling and extremely exhausted the last I needed was to have a place like that treat me like crap and refuse me a bed. Disgraceful and I will be telling everyone I know to avoid this place.

Room was very tired. Curtains were torn and holey. Kitchen area has no door, closes 8pm. Very impractical. Manager treated us like children. Very rude particularly to my elderly mother. Completely unacceptable. He seemed jaded and clearly wasn’t able to assess the integrity of his customers. Quite frankly shouldn’t be in the hospitality industry any longer.

Totally awful. Owner was rude and arrogant. The room was in the under parking area, towels were stained. The whole room needed a lot of TLC. Laundry tub for vanity, no where to sit except on the beds. The toilet had a shower curtain to cover it. Fixtures and walls were stained.
On the plus side, the room was clean and beds comfy,
It was on the corner of a busy street so very noisy.

Hello Michelle. We have a dedicated pet friendly room and guests may have their pet with them There are parks across the road from us also an off lead park about 10 minutes walk away. The dog(s) are the owners responsibility for your stay. We expect that they be quiet, not barking, and certainly not aggressive. We do have a fenced grass atea at the back of the building but we would not allow animals to be left there unattended and any mess to be cleaned up. There is a description of the pet room on our website and you can book thro the site or give us a ring. I hope that's a help, regards. Charles

Is there rooms with private facilities?
Answer from Charles D
Brisbane, Australia1 contribution
Only our pet friendly room which has a pretty basic shower/toilet setup. Our Standard rooms have queen bed, balcony, plasma TV, fridge, and a vanity with hot & cold water.. The rooms are pretty comfy, the linen is clean, breakfast is free, and we have a class hi speed internet system throughout the building, along with a wired laptop with printer for printing out airline tickets etc. We're just a budget hotel, we don't pretend to be anything else, but people generally feel at home with us, and frankly the ones that don't are usually people you wouldn't want to have around you anyway! Regards, Charles
