Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When we have a morning flight out of Brisbane, we like to stay near the airport the night before. This place looked ideal but we had a number of issues. The biggest issue is that the door lock mechanism was defective. I had to climb out the window to unlock it with the key. It was after 7pm so no one was in reception. I managed to fix it temporarily. Although the kettle was an automatic model, it had to be switched off manually. The motel is on a busy road with lots of noisy motorbikes on the Saturday night. There is double glazing which helped but left lots of noise. Luckily, there wasn't any noisy traffic between 10pm and 5.42am (first motorbike). Despite having three floors, there isn't a passenger lift. There is a luggage lift but, when we tried to use it in the morning, nothing happened. There are lights for its actions and location but they weren't working. I carried one of our cases down before my wife discovered someone hadn't closed the ground floor door properly. The lights need to be repaired and a self closing mechanism would be good. There's what could be a useful pedestrian gate to the south at the middle floor but it's falling apart and was locked with a padlock after 7pm. Fixing the gate and installing a room key operated lock would be good. The complimentary shuttle to the airport was excellent. We have a booking at this motel in January and haven't decided yet whether to give it another go or change to somewhere else.

Welcoming and helpful reception, lovely people! Rooms have everything you need. Close to the airport, cold rock, subway etc. It’s nice to see an older building that is still the same, and has the same character. Compared to the new apartments how they are all grey and look the same.

5 minute walk to Clayfield train station and free shuttle to the airport in the mornings. no toasters in rooms but we were given access to use those in the breakfast room. just need a couple of microwave dishes to heat up food everything else was available. it was quite noisy with road traffic at night so take ear plugs. Ask for ground floor if you have trouble with stairs. There is a luggage lift. walking distance to take away and restaurants. Harris farm market is close by but expensive.

This place is what you expect for an old motel on a main road. While it wasn’t too noisy with the road traffic, it definitely needs some maintenance and a deep clean. The shower head kept falling down when the water was turned on, the beds needed a proper doona and 2 more pillows..1 pillow per person is pretty disappointing. Reception staff were lovely but yes i wouldn’t stay longer than a night or 2

Comfortable room with the convenience being close to the airport Bathroom is dated and old, bit small and could do with some maintenance and updating Our shower screen was missing a panel and the little handle on the shower screen was broken, bit dangerous with a sharp screw sticking out. No ice trays. No restaurant on site. Friendly staff.

Normally stay at the Ibis for an airport overnighter, but the rates have gone through the roof, so tried Airport Clayfield Motel for the first time instead. Had a double on the the third floor facing busy Sandgate Road. Friendly host, but mention of the secret luggage lift would have saved lugging bag up the steps. Room was fairly basic (if you compare with the Ibis!) and traffic noise levels not too bad, but guess accommodation to the rear would have been a bit quieter. Did have a very noisy neighbour though. Small, yet attractive pool area out the back. No pickup from airport, but a handy 10 minute drop off minibus service which starts at 6.45am. If you fancy nipping into the CBD there is a handy bus stop bang outside. Overall, adequate for one night.

This motel would be ok just for a night if you are needing a layover from the airport. However, if you are staying any longer you notice how very basic the place is. There are lot of stairs, however thankfully there is a luggage lift although you have to be a contortionist to get the bags in and out of the thing. The rooms just have basics, thin towels (which are not changed each day), sagging beds, brick walls...parking is available but limited. The motel is on a very noisy and busy road. There are some restaurants and cafes nearby, but the sign in the room saying that some places give discounts or extras is false as we asked a vendor and they had no idea what i was talking about. There is a pool but it looked unused for some time and really dark and dingy. If youre just after a place to sleep, wake up and go this place would do the job but barely.

We used the hotel before a morning flight. It’s well located for access to the airport 8 minute drive. There is a transfer available but we didn’t use it. Family room was a good size. Basic no frills styling but comfortable with sofa + table/chairs as well as beds. Lots of restaurants locally with take away options. Basic breakfast offering (cereal, toast, juice) and small dipping pool - we didn’t use either. Free parking. Road noise is an issue, even in family rooms at back of property so bring ear plugs if that’s an issue to you as it does affect sleep quality.

Not sure how this rates at 4/5 .We travel frequently, have previously enjoyed budget accommodation so are not over fussy .We tried to phone x8 in over 1 hr to check about shuttle ,eventually were told take a cab .Actually no shuttle just early am drop off . Arrive told you are early,I,m too busy to answer phone you can sit on bench outside tiny office , facing very noisy busy road or go for a walk along said noisy rd .With no proper lockup for luggage I stayed on bench . Property very tired ,furniture also .Asked for xtra pillows Dave said- later I,m too busy ,3hr later, again requested ,eventually brought by nice receptionist .Towels med size and old ,sign says any marks on towels gets a 12$ charge !!! After very little sleep ,noisy road ,we pile into van ,many people much luggage ,very uncomfortable and I,m sure not up to road code .So all in all not a good stay !!

We stayed five nights. The rooms are very basic; however, they were clean, and everything worked as expected. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They always greeted us with a smile and a chat Extra coffee and supplied where available for the asking. I would be happy to stay at the here on our next trip.
