Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently stayed here to facilitate a mandatory rest for my work. Arrived in very early morning & left early afternoon. Short stay but it did the job required.

Had a ground floor room which was very convenient. Room was clean & comfortable but lacked any form of lounge chair to relax in. Location is within 10 min of airport & has a train line right opposite so there is some associated noise to deal with but it didnt bother me too much.

Bathroom reasonably modern but door cant fully open as blocked by the loo. Was flying solo so no real issue but if family rooms are similar can envisage issues.

There's a Woolies supermarket (Ascot) about a 7-8 minute flat walk & a good cafe (Vito's Cucina & Bar) in the same complex that serves good food & more importantly good coffee & is well priced.

Served it's purpose for a quick sleep & rest but would probably look elsewhere if staying longer.

First the good. This motel offers a rare and cheap pet friendly accommodation option, with no silly restrictions, in a close-to-city location. It's also handy for the races at either Doomben or Eagle Farm and not too far from the airport. There is also a pleasant pool area to the rear.

Now the bad. We didn't get much sleep at all due to very unruly male residents in the back units, neither remotes for the aircon or TV were working and there was very minimal kitchen equipment.

We chose to stay here as it was close to the Doomben train station (we were coming from Roma St long distance trains) and close to the international cruise terminal. Lots of options in the area to eat out or grab groceries. The room itself was comfortable enough, good water pressure and hot water.

To flag as well, the Doomben train station was closed on Sundays and public holidays, so factor this into your plans. There are multiple bus stops along the street though as an alternative.

To begin with absolutely abysmal communication. Good luck if you need late check in, they don’t reply to emails. I tried to refund through Agoda who were equally as useless because I wasn’t sure I’d even have a room to check into arriving late. Finally get hold of someone. Arrive to find the door to my room wide open. The fridge wide open. Finally get to bed and get woken up three times by people yelling/arguing so close I got up to check my door was shut and locked. Would never stay here again for all the tea in china.

I booked a night with Airway Motel a month in advance (on the 29th of November) to stay on the 26th of December. But when I landed in Brisbane at 10:45pm, I realized that I received an email at 10:21pm, saying that my booking was cancelled “because of an invalid credit card”!

They put my card through only the night of my arrival and cancelled my booking! I realized I didn’t have enough money for the transaction to go through, but a simple transfer would have worked very quickly if I had been warned at least a few days before, and not minutes before I landed.

So after a 24h flight and a 2 day trip from France, I was stranded at the airport and had to spend the night there, as hotels were fully booked and it was too late to book online somewhere else for this night.

This way of dealing with bookings and customers is disgraceful and I will definitely never book again a night at Airway Motel.

Very basic motel. The rooms were relatively clean however one of our windows wouldn’t close as the window frame wasn’t aligned with the wall. This would be an issue if it rained. TV selection was basic however you’re getting what you paid for. Didn’t use the pool however it looked clean as did the barbecue area. Very limited parking on “first in best dressed” availability. Once you’ve parked I wouldn’t go out in the evening or you’d have to park down the street somewhere.

It’s convenient to the airport and a lot cheaper than lots of other nearby options. It’s clean but not fancy - but who needs fancy when you’re just needing somewhere to rest before or after a flight? Parking was a bit hectic as we arrived quite late in the evening, but we worked it out. If you’re arriving late you need to prearrange key collection by phoning reception.

Staff was unhelpful, bordering on rude. Would not allow luggage storage at any price. Would not consider a ground level room unless you had a pet. Rooms very noisy and planes flying very low for hours during the night. Will not book there again.

Good location, 15 mins from the airport. Walking distance from a bunch of restaurants, shopping centre and the river front.
Check in was smooth and easy.
Room was reasonably priced & clean.
We got the "family" room with 3 beds and it was spacious and clean, bathroom was clean and had been updated at some point.
Outdoor space was nice and the pool was refreshing.

Only downsides was no blankets on the beds, just the top sheet and the coverlette, the curtains didn't block a lot of light out and no fan or vent in the bathroom.
Mattresses will need upgrading soon but was still comfy enough to sleep on.

Would def stay here again if in the area

I booked direct for a 1 night stay after my 14 day covid isolation after returning from overseas. People were lovely and the room was great. Everything I needed before my flight to Cairns. There is a Woolworths in walking distance where I grabbed some food and supplies.
It is a Motel not a Hotel and was more than adequate for my stay I would recommend it if you are looking for a spacious quiet room for the night or a base for a few days.

How close are you to Brisbane Entertainment centre please- walking distance ?
Answer from AirwayBrisbane
Brisbane, Australia1 contribution
Hi Kate We are located approximately 12 kilometers from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, so not walking distance. Guests go to and from Brisbane Entertainment Centre via: a. Car - 15-25mins depending on traffic (parking is $15) b. Uber/Taxi - average fare is $25-30 c. Train - normally only applicable for getting there as the train line close to the motel stops running at 7.30pm in the evenings. Please let me know if you have any queries. Regards Kristian Airway Motel

Dear Michael, Thank you for your enquiry. Airway Motel has a late check in and key collection process. Additional requirement is that your booking is required to be prepaid before arrival. Please contact reception on +61 7 3268 2457 for detailed instructions. Kind regards, Airway Motel.

Hi 3 options of public transport are available: 1. Train from Doomben station (located less than 100 metres from the motel) to the South Bank station. From there, there will be buses running to the Gabba. While this option would take you there, I'm not sure if the train is returning to Doomben station later on that evening as generally it stops running at 8pm. 2. Bus (no. 301) is available from outside the motel and would you to Cultural Centre, South Brisbane. Here you change buses to take you to the Gabba. 3. Ferry, the motel is about 15-20 min to the Brett's Wharf Ferry stop. Depart at Mowbray ferry stop and then another 15 min walk to the Gabba. More details on the public transport an be found at the translink website. We would estimate the cost of the taxi from the motel to the Gabba to be $35-$40. Please let us know if you have any queries. Regards Kristian Airway Motel
