Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room large and clean. Everything we needed for a one night stay. Bathroom included good quality products, tea and coffee making facilities were provided, and air conditioning was quiet and pleasant for sleeping. Was handy to have table and chairs if we were eating there. No noise from traffic in the street nearby.

Ordinarily I would have given this 3 star more than likely but due to the price I could give it 4 stars. I think I paid around $80 a night for which just outside Brisbane is immensely cheap. It was clean and bathroom was ok. Secured free parking and close to local shops. The place was very quiet. It was old and but for the price couldn’t complained. Staff receptionist was nice and check in couldn’t have been easier. Overall for the price I would stay again.

From the road it appears to be an older establishment (which it is) however looks can be deceiving and they certainly were here.
We stayed in a fabulous 2 bedroom townhouse, it was spacious & clean, modern, well equipped and had air conditioning throughout including the bedrooms.
Comfy beds, good block out blinds & air conditioning all made for a blissful nights sleep, could not ask for more.
It also had a washer & dryer in the room, everything you have at home just on a smaller scale.
A cute, well kept little courtyard in the back & so peaceful.
Traffic noise was non existent considering it is on a main thoroughfare.
It does have a pool unfortunately we did not get time to use it however it did appear clean & well maintained.
Staff friendly & welcoming, could not fault the place.
Big thumbs up here, keep up the great work guys and all the best in 2020.

We stayed at this motel to attend a nearby concert which ended up being cancelled. Best Western were very obliging in letting me change the dates of our stay to a more convenient date. Motel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean and tidy. There was a small group of shops opposite which was extremely handy and right next door was a Chinese Restaurant which we brought take away from and the food was excellent. Would definitely stay there again if visiting the area.

Having read some of the recent reviews, I was expecting to find a poorly presented hotel. Not so! It's such a pity when inexperienced reviewers feel it is their duty to nit-pick and trash a business trying to do a good job for its customers. Anyway, enough of that.

We stayed at Sunnybank Star for 6 nights and found the room very spacious and comfortable. There is plenty of parking in a secure area. What impressed us was the price for a hotel located in reasonable proximity of the Brisbane CBD. We used the 150 bus just outside the hotel for our trips into town.

The room was well fitted, good bathroom (yes, dated but clean). The room has 12 power outlets - a first for us with so many devices, chargers, electric toothbrush etc these days. The bed was comfortable with good lighting in the room. The ancillary equipment met all our needs.

The house and reception staff were all very helpful and polite and made our stay in Brisbane a pleasant one. Well done Sunnybank Star. We'll definitely be back.

Recommend!

Upgraded rooms because our door looked like it was kicked in (#10) and for the "kitchenette", which was just an electric grill, that didn't work. They offered a different grill, which was the same (turns on and off as it reaches temperature, taking twice as long to book anything). I suggest, don't do the upgrade and just buy a cheap one at kmart.
However, laundry was cheap ($8 for wash and dry), location was walkable to many stores and a short drive to the mall and fun adventures for the kids.
When asked staff for activities, they said "we can't recommend anything", so we did our own research. Tina, one of the cleaners, was great. Followed up with requests that we made to ensure I got what we needed.

This two bedroom unit would have to be the dirtiest and run down place we have ever paid for.

From the dust and dirt on wall, curtains floors and stairs to dirt kitchen area, blinds, fridge with hair inside it, rusted out shelves in the fridge. One of the glasses my wife drank from had a sharp edge on it.

The stair case to the up stair area have looked like someone had spilled a milk over the rails of the stairs. The bathroom had mould in the corner of the shower and is very run down. To top it all off the could only watch two tv channels due to bad reception.

I don’t normally leave bad reviews, but when it’s this bad and you paid good money you would expect better. Old is ok if it’s clean, fresh and has a comfortable bed.

Dirtiest 2 bedroom apartment ever, nothing like the nice phot shopped images on their website. Stayed here for business as close to Qsac. Our group had 6 rooms in the bottom apartments and all were filthy. Dusty, mouldy, greasy.
My bed had small spiders that just kept appearing complained to reception about state of room and spiders multiple times they never even came to look in 3 nights.
Bathroom had hair in all corners and dust.
Floor to ceiling dirty. Single Bed had a stain on the turn down part very visible and a rogue small hair. Like those sheets never got changed from past guests.
Other two beds also had random hair, when I asked for clean sheets even the clean sheet had hair on them. As I was given the sheets to change myself! Terrible service.

From my initial email to request if they accepted check in around 12am (after a late night flight), the staff were super accommodating to this request.
It was no hassle to them and they were happy to assist.
Super friendly and fast communication. Check in was a breeze. Room was absolutely spotless. Beds, pillows and linen all high end quality. The location was very quiet.
Fully secure with gate access including free parking. Communal vending machine and microwave available if needed.
We only stayed 1 night and left early morning.
We stayed in the 27sq room and it was plenty of room for 2 people.
It actually had 3 beds for size comparison.
Could not fault this place. Absolutely amazing. Thank you to the staff for accommodating us on such short notice, when other hotels wanted me to jump through hoops “literally”. 5 stars!
