Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Outstanding customer service. The staff are so helpful. The room is fantastic, super clean and elegant. We love it! However, during our stay, only one lift was available which took us a long time to commute to our room from the lobby. If the hotel could manage a technician to fix the another lift on time, we will not leave you any complaints, because this hotel has only two lifts.

The Grand Chancellor hotel was across the road from the hospital where mu wife was getting medical treatment and most convenient. Overall the hotel met my expectations with a good restaurant, spacious clean room, excellent bed and hot clean shower. We would go back

Could have been so much better. Small room but ok. No storage, small open hanging rack and several possible drawer locations that won’t drawers. No mirrors other than a small one over bathroom sink. No horizontal surface in bathroom so toiletries had to live outside. Breakfast coffee arrived as we were leaving after giving up.

The hotel location is good from the perspective of being close to Roma St Station and the CBD, but it is on a very steep hill, so be warned if you have walking difficulties or are planning on exploring a lot by foot. You can take a shortcut through the Roma St Parklands if you don't mind steps or steep slopes. We were travelling with 2 small children and arrived into Roma St so it was a tough and sweaty journey from the station! We did find out the is a free bus that loops round the hotel area, central station and cbd... but om the last day of our stay... oops! Advertisement for this from the hotel would be good. It was still a short walk up a very steep hill from the closest bus stop. The rooms are very nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom was on the smaller side but again was very nice. There was a fridge, kettle, hairdryer, iron and good quality tea/coffee/hot chocolate, milk in the fridge and always restocked. A cot was provided for our baby which was decent. The seating area in the room was nice but a shame it didn't face the TV. The balcony was nice but there was no furniture so nowhere to sit, strange. There is a rooftop pool and gym. The gym is ok, the equipment could do with being updated it was quite old. The pool was on the small side, but nice and there were a few nice sun loungers. Our main issue with the pool was that you had to catch the loft to floor 11, but then take a couple of flights of stairs to get to the rooftop area. No access for disabled people that we could see... and awkward with our stroller having to carry it up the stairs so our baby could rest! The bar was nice, we had some nice drinks and food at happy hour. There was someone performing live music on a Friday and Saturday. There is a self serve laundry which we used. Front desk gave us some free wash powder. It was reasonable too. I don't think we'll stay again due to the hill location, but that's a personal preference and not an issue if you have a car. Otherwise a good hotel for business or leisure trips to Brisbane.

I really don't understand how people are rating this hotel so highly.. Sure it might be clean, but as a practical place to stay for anything longer than 1 night? Forget it... We paid for a premium room, and this review reflects that. if you are a basic room your experience might even be worse. - Need storage to actually put your clothes and possessions in? If you think you can manage with 6 hangers, and not a single drawer in the room then you'll be fine. Anything more than a few T shirts and you will literally be storing your clothes on the sofa or living out of your suitcase. Even the obligatory Gideon bible has to be dumped on a shelf. - Want to keep your possessions safe when you leave the room? Well if you are prepared to carry them all down to reception every time you leave then you'll be fine storing them in the hotel safe. I remember having to do that in the 1980's! - Spacious bathroom? We'll i guess to some people think 1.5m x 2.5m might be spacious. My guest powder room in my family home is bigger. - Now I am being picky, but who has a TV that is offset from the centre of the bed for 2m? Spoke to reception about the issues, and they are basically not interested. Sorry but that is the design of all our rooms. This hotel is a blueprint of the Travel lodge hotels that sprung up in the 80's. It is NOT a premier CBD hotel. If you like anything better 'very average' then seriously look somewhere else.

Perfect location across from St Andrews Hospital and Roma St Parklands. Cafe on site was good. Parking underneath handy. Rooms nice and beds comfortable. Staff pleasant. Our 2nd stay this year and will definitely return. All in all a good stay.

I found myself at the Hotel Grand Chancellor courtesy of my airline carrier due to a missed connection. From beginning to finish I liked this hotel. The reception staff was excellent, being helpful and approachable. The room was spotless, modern and well laid out and the restaurant/bar staff were too. I would recommend this hotel without reservation (so to speak).
