Rydges South Bank Brisbane is a popular choice for its prime location, with guests enjoying easy access to nearby attractions. The hotel's amenities generally receive positive feedback, especially the comfortable beds and quality breakfast, though some suggest the pool and gym could be better. While most find the rooms clean and comfortable, there have been occasional service inconsistencies. Guests appreciate the serene atmosphere but have mixed feelings about value, pointing out the high costs for parking and room rates. Cleanliness is usually up to par, but some facilities may fall short.

Amazing experience!

Our 17 hour flight from the US had the poor taste to arrive at 5am. By 6:30am we were in the lobby of Rydges South Bank and in pretty bad shape. Despite the early hour, Bippen at the front desk immediately adopted us and said he would do the best he could to make us comfortable.

We were very happy to pay an early check-in fee or even pay for the whole previous night to get a bed. He made some calls and was able to provide a room for a very reasonable early check-in fee, and he arranged an upgrade so that we could stay in the same room. A few minutes later, we were asleep in one of the nicest hotel rooms we've stayed in.

We've now been here four days and the staff could not be more helpful. The location is very central, and near a shopping and restaurant street with every possible amenity. The nearby river walk is excellent, and there is even a sekrit passage directly into the conference center.

We are very happy with Rydges, and hope to stay again!

This hotel is very good. I stayed three nights. Hotel is perfectly positioned on South Bank and everything is easily reached on foot in a few minutes. It's no effort at all to walk over one of the many bridges that cross the river to get into the main city centre of Brisbane. My room was great. The hotel staff were all very friendly. Breakfast is a hot and cold buffet and is very high quality with lots of choice. The pool area is great and it's adjacent to a lovely outdoor bar area that has good shade for the sun and the rain. My only complaint is that the pool closes at around 6pm every night. This is no good for business travelers as it's almost impossible to use as you're never back to the hotel by this time each evening. The pool is not supervised anyway, so I don't understand why it has to close so early.

Located on the South Bank of Brisbane, this hotel is close to the Convention and Exhibition Centre and offers a discounted price to attend meetings because of public service. The room is spacious and clean and has a desk. Bathrooms include a shower, head wash, hair cream and champagne.

Joined as a EVT Stays member, no one really knew our discount and even much about the program. The guy checking us in was very stoic and whilst did he job, he gave little to unfriendly service. Breakfast was average, the price you paid you'd expect something more and coffee included. the cafe downstairs is ultimately a deep fried joint, room was clean, friendly ladies cleaning the room, beds comfy, pool a joke (really looks like an after thought) - lets not get talking about the carpark, $55 I would think you have your car in 10 min not 25! Very understaffed.

We were excited for a weekend away in brisbane prior to christmas however was welcomed to a chaotic driveway, not wanting to dampen our spirits we checked in with a very unenthusiastic british gentleman who I'm guessing was having a bad day. Didn't smile and uninterested about our stay - no run down on the hotel, given spending over $400 a night for a suite I would have thought we would have had a better welcome. It was anything but generic robotic. He just didn't care. We found hair in the bathroom and the sofa not made up as we requested ahead of time, came down and unfortunately tried to avoid the brit, spoke to Carmina the 'duty manager' who also shared the uninterested demeanour. Whilst she gave me a 'free' drink voucher i said i wasn't interested in anything for free, she said 'well what do you want' - i just wanted a clean room - is that too much to ask for? It didn't seem both staff cared. Very disappointed!

Brisbane is a friendly city and the staff at Rydges are no exception. Location was fantastic and the facilities were good, although the water in the pool looked a little cloudy. The guest laundry facilities were very welcome, as I was on a multi-city trip and it was nice to be able to wash my clothes at a very reasonable cost.

Great hotel but terrible restaurant. I’ve stayed at Rydges in South Bank on multiple occasions. While the rooms are comfortable and the staff are friendly, the CBD attached restaurant lists outrageous prices for poor quality food.

The loaded pepperoni pizza tastes like a frozen pizza, hot near the crust but cold in the centre. It only had 1-2 pieces of pepperoni per slice, so “loaded” is a flat-out lie. It costs $27 and is considerably worse than a $5 pizza from Dominos.

If you stay at Rydges, enjoy the room but don’t consider ordering from the CBD restaurant built into the hotel.

I stayed at the Rydges as part of a conference in March 2024. Overall, the hotel is quite good and the things that makes it miss top marks are generally small.

The beds are comfortable with clean linens and good pillows. The room was clean and well put together. The work desk was mostly comfortable and the room recliner was comfy.

The room's light hygiene was *almost* good. A set of strong blackout curtains is part of the room, but it fails to fully seal at the middle and not much at the edges leaving the room without the full blackout that international travelers often need when heavily jetlagged. The room blissfully lacks the usual plethora of annoying LED lights that add to this problem. Almost full marks here.

The bathroom is nice, and was well maintained by housekeeping. The shower was an open shower with a partial pane of glass that leads to a wet floor even when you're very careful to try to keep the water to the stall. This is the first bathroom I've had to close the door to ensure I don't get the floor outside the bathroom wet. The sink is a basin type, but with a faucet that is so low and set so close to the edge that it's hard to get a glass of water or easily wash your hands. 2.5/5 for bad designs.

The hotel is on a street with a number of good restaurants, which was helpful during a long conference week. The hotel breakfast is quite reasonable and recommended, although there are nicer options in a short walk from the hotel.

The main thing the hotel lacks for a conference hotel is larger lounging space as part or adjacent to a hotel bar for hangout and chat. The small bar downstairs is okay, but has a bit of a cafeteria feel to it. People thus wander off to one of the various other venues down the street, which discourages some of the productive bar chat that is useful for conferences.

I'd happily come back again.

We paid over $900 as priority guests for a river lights package in a king suite which included 1 night accom plus breakfast for 2, sparkling wine on arrival, valet parking & late checkout of 1pm.

On arrival the valet experience was super friendly & efficient. However arrival at check in was met with not a single smile from either of the young women on the counter. Both were free but weren’t interested in making eye contact & looked like they’d rather be anywhere else.

The suite was clean with a comfortable bed but poorly appointed with only 1 small soap & cheap bathroom ammenities. In the kitchen one small sachet of dish liquid & a paper towel, 3 sachets only of tea. Minibar was less than basic.
The lounge was clean but needed the seating supports replaced.
Our “on arrival” bottle of wine was delivered while we were out at a function some 4 hours or more after we checked in & was sealed with a bottle cap like a beer!
Breakfast buffet was quite well appointed but the restaurant furnishings were tired. Restaurant staff were smiling & very attentive. Proximity to the convention centre is the main advantage of this hotel.
All up, what could have been a lovely upmarket stay missed the mark for us.
