The Motel is convenient to CBD and provides all the facilities - tea and coffee making, towels, soap, shampoo, etc. Everything is clean. There was a mix up with my booking and the room was double booked by another couple and they opened door and walked in on me apart from mix up with I would recommend this motel. The motel has good security to make you feel safe and secure.

Stayed with a mate as we wanted a convenient place to crash after a concert gig. The room was as advertised; clean and functional. Basic and possibly a tad dated, but definitely cannot complain about the price. The staff at reception allowed us to check-in half an hour early and were helpful later when we requested more toilet paper. The beds were clean and comfortable. The room and bathroom were well presented and clean. Airconditioning was great with no odd smells. The TV was massive and with some tinkering we were able to access Netflix etc. The windows only had a view of the opposite building. Blinds blocked out morning light. The mini-fridge came with a small selection of drinks at standard prices. Two complimentary waters were provided. The room had a kettle with complimentary tea and coffee and some biscuits. We had breakfast at the restaurant on the ground floor and were very impressed. If you're staying here definitely visit the restaurant. I don't really have any negative things to say and would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting budget accommodation in the CBD.

Had a great stay here. Ideal location - easy walk to City Hall and CBD, pedestrian bridge across the river, restaurants, and the Roma bus/train station. Desk staff were very helpful, and it was no problem storing our luggage until checkin. Secured access to elevator and room corridor. Room was comfortable with modern decor and all the amenities you'd need (desk, ironing board/iron, hair dryer, mini fridge, toiletries). Bathroom was clean and well outfitted. Bed was very comfy, pillows and bedding to choose from depending on preference, and clean/crisp white sheets. My only suggestion would be a power vacuum of the exhaust fan/air conditioner and a bit of a paint touchup. Would definitely stay here again.

Very happy with my stay - the room and facilities were adequate and couldn't expect more given the reasonable price of the stay. Very impressed at the number of plug points in the room and USB charger points - often struggle to find enough to charge all devices. The staff were absolutely fabulous to deal with - friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast on site was well priced and delicious, with really quick service. The hotel is perfectly located in the CBD and although I had to park off site it was within close walking distance. Overall very happy with my stay and would book again.

There was mould all over my room when I arrived. They changed me to another room after I requested to move, and the windows in the new room were leaking from minimal rain. I slept with towels there soaking the water to stop the bed getting wet. I put up with it after a long day of travelling and being moved to the new room at 10pm.
I told staff about these issues but it didn’t seem to be too pressing? Mould is serious. I would have appreciated the offer of even a partial refund.

I had stayed here a number of years ago when it was a budget place for Brisbane. I still have nightmares about the tight basement carpark. On my recent stay I was pleasantly surprised at the refurb and condition of the hotel rooms. At least $60 per night cheaper than comparable hotels - although their carparks are better. My advice is to opt out of the chance that their carpark will have any spots left - they don't reserve parks. Just pay the $7 extra for the Tank St carpark. If you arrive at their laneway park and there are no spots, it is a harrowing reverse out of the alley to go and find the other carpark. (Even though the staff member says you can turn around, you can't!) The intercom constantly cuts out, so a difficult conversation to find all of this out. No 'loading zone' anywhere to find out if their park is available. My advice is to just ask for the Tank St parking and get the pin code via phone before you arrive. It is only a short few hundred metres from there back to the hotel entrance. Overall, I would stay here again, a great location.

If you like a dump claiming to be a 4 star hotel & like to be ripped off this place is for you. It was damp, mouldy & stank of bleach (yet nothing in the room was clean) & toxic paint fumes with generators or air con units making a racket all night.
The car park is really non existent, as it fits at best six cars (I had to pay $28 per night parking when there wasn't any).

We stayed at the George Williams Hotel for 3 nights in January 2024. The room was neat, clean and tidy and bathroom was spacious and looked newly renovated. We had a room for 2 adults and an older child so our room had 2 queen size beds. The location was fantastic, only a few mins walk to Queen Street where there was lots of shopping and also only a few minutes walk to the casino. There is a 7/11 next to the hotel, liquor store across the road and a lovely restaurant where we had breakfast every morning which was delicious, convenient and well priced. We really enjoyed our stay, especially due to location and price.

On the positive side, the room is 'cozy' and suitable for the solo traveller. However, hotel policies are very dated. I travel a lot, both here and overseas. It has been years since any hotel has charged a 'security' fee of more than $1 in any country I have been to. It is outrageous to charge $100AU for 'security' on a room that is fully paid, prior to arrival. The cost of the room being marginally more expensive than the 'security'. To add insult, it will be 14 days before I am reimbursed, and I'm sure it will be blamed on the banks (which is not the case for anyone reading this). Outdated policy needs to be removed.

Additionally, the amenities are wanting. Laundry facilities are great, if you are staying a few days or more. But there are no other facilities. No gym, no pool, no signage to the advertised spa.

For the price paid, the Ibis Styles offers far better value for money.

Do not attempt to take a large car if you are expecting to get into the carpark. This would have to be the worst untidiest carpark in the city at a cost of $28 per night! If you decide to venture into the basement carpark get in early as there are only approx 12 spots available. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who assisted us well. However we were not advised of the $100 security deposit beforehand which covers damages etc. Not sure where $100 would help. You can choose to pay this in cash and get it back when you check out, or you can have them take it from your card instantly but wait up to 5 business days for it to appear back on your card!
Don't get excited about a large room. This would have to be the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. There is no view because of the blinds, if there was a view then it would have been the brick wall. The tv was very large.. probably bigger than the room itself! The shower was ok however trying to get the temp right was a nightmare. I had it perfect only for it to turn instantly boiling hot after about 30sec. Instant red mark left on my shoulder.
Bed was comfortable. We were close to Suncorp which is why we stayed there, however we wouldnt stay again.

Answer from Cathy M

George Williams Hotel does not have a restaurant. However cafe / restaurant Urban Coffee Collective next door can be accessed through hotel foyer. They have a full breakfast menu from $10 for toast, through to $37 for full cooked breakfast. Their coffee is excellent!. They also have a full lunch and dinner menu - the meals are huge and good value

They have parking however subject to availability. You'll have to recheck at reception. They do have a second parking option not far from the hotel if parking at the hotel is full. Extra charge for each parking options.

Don't know what size bedroom you have at home. We stayed in 308 and yes it's a bedroom. you can sit on a desk but it's not convenient to chill. Next time i would prefer a room at a higher floor wrt the street noice. I'm 1.87m and for me the bed was oké.
