We stayed at the Riverside on the 28/5 and it was a semi enjoyable stay.

The balcony door did not lock. We did mention this to the staff on checkout on the 29/5. It was an oxymoron. Notices to say lock the balcony door yet this one didn’t!!
The bathroom was a letdown: when paying in excess $200 for a one night’s accommodation at the very least one would expect a bath you can use and a shower rose you can move. The bath was for a person of very small stature and the shower was for a person of very tall stature!!!!

We were expecting a room with one bed but it had a 2nd bed which made the room seem small, an observation as such not a complaint!
If we were to stay again I will request a room on the other side of the premises due to the traffic noise.
The upside is that Riverside is close to the Southbank eateries, Convention centre 10-minute walk if you are lucky. 😊

This hotel is in need of renovation. My wife and I stayed at the River View Hotel for two nights recently. On arrival at 1430 (check in time is 1400) I was told we would be moved to another room as the one allocated room wasn’t ready yet. (well, why is check in time 1400 if the rooms aren’t ready?) We were given room 115 on the first floor, no problem, until the air conditioning system outside the window kicked in and made a terrible noise. This was going to be a problem during the night and would have been hard to sleep.
After about an hour and a half in the room it became obvious the noise was going to be a problem throughout the night, so I went back to reception and asked to be moved to another room. The young lady at reception asked if we had used anything in the room, the response was no. I was then asked if we had sat on the bed, the answer was yes. The young lady started to say it would cost more to move because we had sat on the bed, at that point I cut her off (not nice, but I knew what was coming) and told her I knew my rights. She then asked if I would like to talk to the manager, to which I said yes.
When the manager came out to reception, he told me to calm down, to which I responded, I am calm I just want to move to another room that doesn’t have the noise of the air conditioning unit and the young lady was giving the impression that because we sat on the bed we would have to pay more to move to another room. After a bit of paper shuffling we were allocated room 204 on the second floor, whilst this was a bit quieter, we now had the noise of the traffic outside our window/balcony. Having had one drama already, I wasn’t about to go back and request another move, so we put up with the noise. Mind you the noise on the second night (Sat) wasn’t so bad.
The rooms overall are very small, the bathroom was very small and could not accommodate two people, the previous bathroom didn’t have a soap holder in the shower. There was no bed covering on the bed other than a sheet. There was a small balcony but no table or chair to sit outside, unless you moved the table and chair inside the room outside. The building/rooms are showing their age and given that the games are coming to Brisbane in 2035 they would be wise to upgrade the whole place not just reception.
We would probably stay there again, but that would only be because it is cheaper than the other hotels around the area and the parking is free.

This was my first stay, and I found the hotel very convenient for visiting Southbank attractions (QPAC, the Queensland Museum, the Gallery of Modern Art, and the Art Gallery) as it's only a ten minute walk away, with another walk over the Victoria Bridge, or a train ride from South Brisbane station, also ten minutes away, to Central station into the CBD. I did find my room very dark, as there were only floor lamps, with one overhead light at the entrance by the mirrored cupboard. Bathroom lighting was very good. There were ironing and tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable, if a bit hard. I felt the corridor outside the rooms was rather stuffy and dark.Breakfast, extra, was continental buffet style. I was disappointed that there was no dinner available on Sunday night. Staff were friendly and helpful though.

This hotel rates as 4 star on it’s website & pics look like value for money. Firstly it is extremely well situated, close proximity to Southbank Parklands & surrounding precinct. I booked several weeks ago on a special non refundable rate, was going to a concert at QPAC (walking distance from hotel, great). Due to Covid19 concert was cancelled ,as I knew it was a no refundable we decided to go to dinner in the City instead. Arrived & had no problem checking in, foyer looked nice but was then given room key & told the room was in a building across from the reception & restaurant area. As soon as we entered the building you could smell a damp & musty smell, took the lift up to our room on the 1st floor which smelled just as bad. The furniture was old with water marks from glasses on the bedside table, the bathroom was tiny & had mould along shower screen & the room was dark & could have been cleaner. The bed linen was very clean. This hotel need to update the website pictures or inform clients of the difference between the two buildings.
Was disappointing, more the standard I would expect from a backpacker hostel than a 4 star hotel. Couldn’t sit on balcony (no chairs anyway) as this was the view. Had to keep curtains closed.

My husband and I are in our 70s. Living rural, we booked a room online (not via Trip Advisor), for one night in the city close to a concert we were seeing at the Brisbane Convention Centre. Although there was a booking under our name, the "manager" said the booking reference numbers we had did not tally with his, and he could not give us a room unless my husband proved his identity with a photo. Having left his driver's license at home, medicare and pension cards were offered, but these were refused - very loudly and publicly. My husband felt humiliated. Finally, after viewing my driver's license, he relented and we got a room.// Then the room - very ordinary - 2 stars only. It had a ripped curtain, another curtain coming off its tracks so the curtain could not be fully closed. There is no vanity in the bathroom to put one's items on and shower water leaks into the centre of the bathroom. The cord for the electric jug was so short, it had to be placed in front of the TV to reach the only accessible plug. After the concert, we packed up and drove home.

The location of this hotel is spot on. Nice and close to South Bank and the Brisbane Convention Centre. However, my travel agent booked this for $250 for one night, where other booking providers were only charging $150 to $170 for the same room. This hotel is NOT WORTH $250. The rooms are tired and the bathrooms are very dated. The shower in my room was not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as it as an 'over the bath' shower, but the step into the bath was very high.

The staff were friendly.

This is my preferred hotel in Brisbane.
It is an easy to reach location south of the river but only a short walk to Southbank, West End and across the bridge into the heart of the city.
Rooms are comfortable and parking is included in the rate which is usually reasonable.

We originally booked an apartment and were disappointed with it. The apartment is old and smelt of old carpet and curry. We had to open all of the windows to sit comfortably and the smell didn't go away. We complained to the receptionist and she kindly moved us to a hotel room that was much more comfortable. Another positive note is that we got car parking suitable to our cars above the 2m limit. Disappointed with our initial experience and the price that you pay but thankful for the flexibility of the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel in an apartment for four days and were overwhelmed by the level of service. Chris Podmore the Manager and his team were super eager to please and be of service. I am disabled and was travelling with my sister who was recovering from arm surgery. Nothing was too much trouble, assisting with baggage on arrival and departure, preparing and serving truly excellent coffees, simple but adequate breakfast service. We entertained guests to a sandwich and drinks lunch. The sandwiches were beautifully prepared and presented and the bar service was perfect. The room was clean and well equipped - nice balcony with view over South Bank. Parking below the hotel is secure and free, including fo our lunch guests.
I have stayed at this hotel several times, since 2013 and it has never failed me. But the service this time, observing all the Covid safety procedures and with a limited staff over the holiday period, was truly superb. This hotel is very conveniently located to Southbank entertainment and restaurants as well as walks along the river. Close to the city.

Riverside Hotel was extremely comfortable and accommodating. I have a broken ankle and specified some  requirements to assist with my limited mobility. These were met by the hotel at booking. There was parking included and they allowed our visitors to access the carpark outside our ground floor room. The location is central to Southbank facilities. I would have liked to access the restaurant but it was closed due to COVID. This did not affect our stay as we found a lovely coffee shop very close. The only thing missing was a folder of information about the local area.

You will be absolutely fine to park here during the event. It is best to give us a call and check on the day for availability on the car parking area and, if available, we will try to accommodate your partner's car as well.

Dear MelCapcorn, Thank you for your question. Riverside Hotel's signature restaurant, Montague's, has never done takeaway, as we do not have a license to do so. We do serve room service, meaning, if you are a guest or a resident within our premises, we will be happy to bring food up to your room. We hope that this has answered your question. For further info, please do not hesitate to call our toll free number (1800 301 101) or to e-mail us directly. Thank you very much and have a lovely day!

Are there no-smoking floors and does the hotel have a gym please?
Answer from LuizPrebianca
Brisbane, Australia33 contributions36 helpful votes
Dear David, Thank you for your question. All our rooms are non-smoking. That being said, people are allowed to smoke in the balconies, as long as they close the balcony door behind them, preventing any smoke to enter the room. We do not have a gym, for as much as we would love to have one, we lack the space for it. Nevertheless, Studio 99 Fitness Centre is located a mere 10 minute walk from us. Once again, thank you for your question. Have a nice day! With regards, Luiz Prebianca. Riverside Hotel Management.

Dear Guest, Our One Bedroom Apartments are comprised of one queen bed in the "Master Bedroom", and one sofa-bed in the living room. The sofa-bed opens up into a Double Bed, which can then accommodate one couple on the sofa-bed and one couple on the queen bed. One more thing we can also do, is if you need one more bed, we can add a "rollaway" bed into the living room on top of the sofa-bed, if required. I hope this helps. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact myself directly. Regards, Luiz Prebianca Hotel Duty Manager
