The Stamford Plaza Brisbane garners appreciation for its prime riverside location, with guests enjoying easy access to dining, shopping, and public transport. While the hotel's historic charm and vibrant atmosphere are often highlighted, some travelers find the rooms to be comfortable yet outdated, not quite justifying the price. Opinions on service vary, with accolades for the friendly staff contrasted by reports of sluggishness or discourteous interactions. Despite the hotel's overall cleanliness, a few guests have raised concerns regarding housekeeping. Moreover, the value proposition is a point of contention, as certain guests deem additional charges and dated amenities incongruous with the hotel's rates.

I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel and their staff. Walking into the large lobby, always impeccably decorated for the time of year, smells fresh and clean.

The checkin process in easy, all rooms are large and have a river view, and the bathrooms are like a glimpse into what I image the house of a celebrity would look like - with large soaking tub facing a small television (yes, in the bathroom!), a small vanity area with a seat, and a separate shower. The water is treated and feels soft on your skin and the travel size items are top quality. Throw their body wash into the tub to make your skin super soft.

The pool overlooks the river, includes soft towels and has a jacuzzi attached. Lots of area to lounge and the WiFi reaches all around the pool area. Grab your iPad and a pool chair under an umbrella, or enjoy a drink while watching the boats and jet skis ride by. Gorgeous afternoons can be spent here.

Accommodation packages (check them out on booking.com) can include breakfast and/or parking, and are worth it. The breakfast buffet allows for indoor or outdoor seating with river views, custom made omelets, and the usual breakfast staples (eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruit, yogurt, and meats/cheeses). A hidden gem that you may not see but don’t want to miss is the banana bread. Ask for it! Soft, sweet, delicious. For a small fee, you can ask the barista for your latte to go!

The concierge staff is amazing. If you’re lucky, you’ll meet Mark, a rice farmer from the Philippines that has worked at the hotel on and off since 1998. He remembered me from one visit to the next months later. He is a remarkable man and worth a chat. Take 5 and don’t miss the opportunity to meet him. He will make you smile. I promise.

Location!! Walking distance to just about anything you need. Next door to the botanical gardens and the river, you can take the river board walk to many restaurants. If you’re feeling lucky, I recommend having a glass of wine with some tapas at Rico. A little pricey but great flavors.

Just a couple blocks from the grocery store (Wooly’s) and a 5-7 min can ride to the hospital. Attached to the hotel are lots of restaurants from Japanese to Seafood to a Steakhouse, even a cute coffee shop. But, don’t get the macaroons there, walk up two blocks to Le Bon Choix for the best macaroons of your life.

This hotel is also next to all the high end shopping - Gucci, Cartier, Etc. and just a few more blocks to an outdoor mall of normal stores (like H&M, Lululemon, David Jones) and food court.

Everything about staying here is awesome. I’ll be back for sure.

this hotel has gone downhill since I last stayed there 2 years ago. Little if no money has been spent on it and the rooms are tired. Also unreliable hot water which is completely unacceptable. No umbrellas in rooms, no laundry bags and they deliver hot meals by room service without a cover over them to keep them hot.

We love to stay here when visiting family in Brisbane, we stayed here for a week in connecting rooms. Must say our children’s room was a lot nicer than ours. Our room had no table we rang reception and were informed corner rooms don’t have tables in them, where were we to eat if we needed room service? on our bed!! Don’t think that is right when paying what we did, looking in all the rooms you can see tables. We were hung up on, but 30 mins later an old table arrived which we were very grateful for.
There was no seperate shower it was in the bath, firstly when staying at a 5 star hotel I would expect a seperate shower not an old shower curtain in a bath, the sides of the bath are steep and with my bad back I couldn’t get out of it without help luckily our children’s room had a seperate shower to the bath so I was able to use that. The towels are a bit old and the bath robes could do with changing. Couldn’t use the ironing board as it was pretty mucky. One of our net curtains was missing overlooking the Story bridge so we had to close the curtains to watch the tv, with the sun glaze, the other net curtain overlooking the pool was dirty with what looked like chocolate hands. One of the 3 lifts was broken the whole time we were there so took ages for the lift to come up especially at peak times. The furniture was a bit battered and our lights didn’t match.
On a positive the valet guys were amazing such a lovely group of men, brought us our car so fast and very polite. The breakfast was amazing, even on New Years Day the volume of people the staff were amazing and very professional. The rooms were very very clean.
The pool was nice but more sunloungers are needed as people throw their towels on them so early never a seat when I got there.
The best was being able to watch the New Years Eve fireworks from our room, it was definitely the best view I have ever had.

We booked 2 Deluxe Riverview Rooms and were given them on the 20th floor, where the views were wonderful - we had a partial view of the story bridge and river and the other room had views toward the City Botanic Gardens and river.
The rooms were clean and well presented.
We had breakfast included in our booking and although it was a buffet style, with COVID restrictions in place the staff had to serve everything for us, which slowed down the whole process, but they did a great job, Robert who was serving was very friendly and efficient. I think if it was available I would have elected for a room service breakfast.
Now whilst talking about room service - I was disappointed on check out to find we were charged a “tray” fee, and also a “public holiday surcharge” fee on top of the already inflated price for 2 Coronas - the two beers ended up costing over $32.
Maybe the staff need to inform the guests what the charges will be whilst making the order so there are no surprises later on.
All in all an enjoyable stay, thank you.

We stayed at The Stamford for 2 nights on the Riverside Escape package, exceptional value for money! King studio room was immaculate, with corner views of the Brisbane river and could see a hint of the Storey Bridge.
By the time we checked in at 2pm, the pool was already in the shade (located on the east side of the building) but we made the most of the Pav Bar with our included credit.
Car parking was off site as the Stamford carparking facility was fully booked, but only a short walk around the corner.
Bed was super comfortable and room was extremely quiet with no disturbance from outside noises.
Locations is fantastic, a pleasant stroll along the riverwalk to Eagle street pier and Howard Smith Wharves, plus the Botanic Gardens nearby.
Would highly recommend the Stamford.

Well appointed hotel in a fabulous location, only a short walk into the city and also right next to the lovely botanical gardens and the Brisbane river. Luxurious, but affordable, this is a hotel full of old world charm with services that are consistently both efficient, gracious and professional.
The rooms have views over the river and city and room cleanliness as well as overall hotel hygiene is prioritised, making one feel very safe during these difficult COVID times.
Will definitely return. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

We stayed on a Saturday night at the Stamford on a “ book direct” deal which gives you a very nice room, buffet breakfast for 2, plus valet parking, all for $249.
The Stamford is perfectly located, right on the river, with the botanical gardens on one side and the Riverside restaurant and ferry complex on the other.
The hotel decor is a bit dated, but it is still very well maintained and generously proportioned. The rooms have a great view of the river, are large, have a very comfortable bed and a good bathroom. The buffet breakfast is excellent, and is served on a nice terrace overlooking the river. Staff are friendly and efficient.
We had only one small complaint— why do many hotels such as the Stamford charge extra if you have an expresso coffee with breakfast? Expressos cost something like $0.60 to make— it seems silly to charge additionally for them when you could eat ( for instance) $15 worth of smoked salmon at the buffet and no/one would blink. Furthermore, you are not informed of the charge until checkout, and while the cost is pretty irrelevant, the annoyance as you checkout is not.

Exceptional service by all staff. Rooms are so clean and big and must be soundproof as we heard no noise from other rooms or the hall area. Views from room windows over the river and Storey Bridge are stunning. Beautiful grounds. Walk straight from the hotel on to the walkway to the Botanical Gardens and / or Eagle Street Pier.
Amazing breakfast with large variety to choose from. Our new favourite place to stay in Brisbane

Excellent hotel, service and location. Close to shopping, restaurants, CBD and with easy access to major motorways. The two rooms I stayed in over two separate nights were both impeccable, very comfortable and with great views. If I were to have a negative comment it would be the cost of parking but for a hotel of this quality perhaps it is to be expected.

We booked into the Stamford on a package with breakfast and parking to celebrate my birthday. Was allocated a lovely room with a magnificent view. Unfortunately the Stamford has no control over the 3 days of rain we had whilst there which put a stopper on some of our plans!
Shout out to Mark the Concierge who was excellent in every way-even secretly finding us a vase to put flowers that had been delivered. We were lucky enough to have him help us out with our largely extended set of bags (shopping!) on check out too and he is a great ambassador for the hotel-a lovely man.
Check in and out were great. All the staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. We had prearranged high tea to the room for my birthday celebration and nothing was too much trouble, the staff member going above and beyond to set it out beautifully and make sure we got nice photos.
Our only complaint was breakfast in the Brasserie. I get there are Covid restrictions but as others have said, your approach is not working! Zero communication of what is happening, staff are stressed and rushed and not providing any service and you don’t know what is available to you. Why not just give a limited alacarte menu and then people would understand what they could have and not just see random things appear for some people and not others.
We were lucky to read the small print on the in room dining menu and saw that for $10 each you could get your package breakfast to the room-we did this and our breakfast experiences couldn’t have been different in two days. Worth the money! The hotel is immaculately clean but need of refurbishment. We had a fantastic stay but will likely stay somewhere closer to shopping hub next time!
