My wife and I stayed 5 nights, arriving at midnight from the BNE Airport. A nice receptionist copied my passport, confirmed my prepayment and took a A$100 deposit before providing our key card. We used it to operate 1 of the 2 fast elevators up to the 4th floor. Room #402, carpeted and spacious, opened to a fully outfitted bathroom with a nice tile shower, then a comfortable queen and couch across a fully outfitted kitchenette, desk, dining table and chairs. The AC was quiet with a wall control but the room WIFI did not operate and the washing machine was Out of Order. We worked with reception & moved up 1 floor to fully functional #506 for the balance of our stay, with a window wall that looks down on Brisbane’s ‘Shibuya Crossing’. Both rooms were outfitted with high quality furniture and lovely paintings. We walked 180m across the street to the Coles supermarket and 2 blocks east to the Woolworths both in the multi street pedestrian zone of shops/stores. Overall a great stay but WIFI should be stronger.

Great place to stay in Brisbane. Huge rooms with excellent amenities. Good quality fit and finish throughout. Good beds, shower, etc. Very well located in the heart of Brisbane. Nice staff. You could live here comfortably for an extended period. Not much to fault it, gets a rare ‘5 star’ rating from me. Okay, some things that may turn some people off. It’s a bit of a period piece - if your idea of hotel accommodation is ultramodern then maybe this isn’t for you. I actually spent one night on my trip in an expensive, highly rated modern tower hotel; for mine the Royal Albert was far superior, but I can see where some would prefer the other. Views - my room looked onto an adjoining office/apartment building, it must have been at the side or back of the building, so yeah, nothing to see there, but Brisbane is pretty much a high rise desert these days, so no view is pretty much par for the course (my high rise hotel had no view either FWIW). And on the upside, being out the back of the building made it very quiet, especially given the current railway works happening out the front. Again re modern amenities, if you’re thinking your hotel accom must have a pool, gym, stuff like that, again this may not be the place for you as those weren’t available, at least that I saw. In summary, for me, if I was coming back to Brissy, this would be at the top of my list to stay at. One of my favourite hotels I’ve been to.

We enjoyed a great experience at the Royal Albert. All the staff were so lovely and friendly and very accommodating. Our one bedroom apartment was huge and full of old world charm. Position of hotel is perfect, being close to Southbank and central to shopping, cinemas, and restaurants. We will definitely return

Centrally located just a 3 min walk from Queen St Mall. We paid $22 for valet parking which is very good in Brisbane City. Nice old world charm to it. We had a one bedroom apartment for $207 pn midweek and it was amazing how large it was. Full living room, kitchen and dining room! Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for the first time on a short business trip. So different from the usual large 5 star hotels, a step back in time to traditional finery. The staff are excellent, as was the size and comfortable elegance of the room. Food and drinks are in a cafe in the entrance to the hotel who serve great food which can also be ordered via room service. Parking is available too on site for $22 per day, and, if full, the same rate is applied and the Myer Centre (now Uptown Centre) next door on Elizabeth Street. TV with Foxtel and every other amenity available in the room, kitchen too. Not sure why there is still a media player which only uses the old 13 pin iPhone/iPod plug, making it useless, but that is my only small criticism. This will be my go to hotel in Brisbane in future. Highly recommended for those that don’t need the glitz of normal hotel/resort.

The recent reviews of this hotel on TripAdvisor are reasonably accurate and reflect our experience. The good bits: Value for money Pleasant heritage vibe, although a little worn around the edges Large space - we had a two room corner suite Adequate kitchen with all the usual utensils, including a coffee plunger Decent Cafe on the ground floor, open for breakfast lunch and dinner Reasonably fast lifts/elevators Generally friendly staff and 24/7 Front Desk Centrally located - one block from the Mall The average to poor bits: Glacial WIFI speed Hot water is clearly centrally provided and takes FOREVER to reach the 2nd floor Plumbing is NOISY - the whole apartment seemed to shake when the tap in the bathroom or kitchen is turned off Air conditioning is temperamental - we thought that we had mastered the controls on the first day, only to find that after returning from shopping on day 2 the apartment was an ice box Parts of Albert Street are a construction site for the CrossRiver Rail and new Albert St Station - noise is not the issue, simply busy, narrowed footpaths and visual pollution.

The Royal Albert Hotel is in an old building (1913) in central Brisbane, very handy for all the shops and the river. The reception is in a small arcade with a busy restaurant at the front so a little difficult to spot at first glance. The reception staff were welcoming, and the desk is staffed for 24 hours a day although the main doors are locked from 8 pm. Your key card will give you access and also allows operation of the lifts. My room was bigger than I expected, although I had not studied the pictures on the website closely. It was advertised as a queen room but was very big, with both a desk and a dining table with four chairs, as well as a sofa that turns into a sofa bed. There was a well-stocked kitchenette and another surprise was the washer and dryer in the room which saved me having to find a local launderette. As well as a microwave, kettle and toaster, there was a small hob, iron, ironing board and hairdryer. No safe though. The bed was comfortable. The air-con / heater was set to 22 and there was a note on it asking that it not be changed. The temperature in the room was fine, although I could have done with a bit of boost to the temperature in the bathroom for my morning shower. If I have any complaints it is about the water strength in the shower which was very very poor, I wash my hair most days and it was not strong enough to rinse the conditioner so I had to finish rinsing my hair over the sink. Not ideal. My other complaint relates to the cleaning, the bed was made but some of the towels and face cloth had been taken and not replaced. This included the bath mat towel. And the cleaner had removed a small bag of rubbish from the bin but for some reason then abandoned it by the microwave. I’ve seen reviews mentioning the noise, my room was adequately sound proofed, and faced onto an office block at the back of the building rather than onto Albert or Elizabeth Streets. I did hear some noise from the room next door late at night but it was very muffled, and not really an issue. This is a well located hotel for anyone looking for somewhere to stay in central Brisbane, and the rooms are charming.

This was a different option from the norm. Most hotels in Brisbane are high rises and I've stayed in a few over the years when staying in the city to see shows etc. I thought I'd try the Royal Albert and I'm glad I did. As great as the views are in high rises I sleep better closer to the ground, lol. Also this is an older style hotel, with quaint decor and most importantly larger rooms. There is plenty of space to plonk your bags and still walk around. There was a queen bed in the room and my friend and i shared that but there is also the option of the pull out sofa - even not pulled out it would have been big enough for a small to average sized person to sleep on. There was some traffic noise but it's the middle of the city so that's any place you stay. They are doing roadworks around the building but the reception sent me easy to follow instructions for how to get into the carpark, so it didn't cause a problem. The staff were lovely and helpful. The parking is reasonably priced and valet, which felt a bit luxurious. Next morning we ate breakfast in the cafe downstairs and it was delicious. Location is also great as you can just walk over to the mall if you want to shop or catch a movie. I think I've found my new favourite overnight city stay.

Spent six nights here for a quick break from the cold of NZ. Such an amazing location, right in the heart of Brisbane. A quick walk to waterfront resturants, Southbank and the arts centre and the beautiful bitanical garden. Room was spacious clean and quiet. Lovely cafe also located in the building. Great spot!

Hotel is located downtown in the main business district. Stayed for two nights visiting Brisbane, which is a lovely and walkable city. Our room was clean, very large and comfortable. Comfy bed and pillows, nice shower and bathroom, plenty of room to spread out. We were fortunate our room was quiet, as I heard someone at the front desk trying to change their room because their neighbors were intolerable. Reasonable value for a city hotel. Restaurant at the front of the hotel, on the main street, had a variety of food options at all meals, although we did not eat there. There are no shortage of restaurants in the area, especially with the mall across the road. Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the central train station, where you can get a train to/from the airport.
