Oakwood Hotel & Apartments is centrally located to Brisbane CBD , Fortitude Valley, shopping and some of the city’s best restaurants. It Has amazing views of the Story Bridge , Brisbane River and The City , if you request a river view room, but so insulated you don’t hear the traffic crossing the bridge. Howard Smith Wharves Restaurants are an easy 5 minute walk , using the path directly from the hotel, and the scenic cliffside lift ride down or 3 minutes walking down the hill. The accommodations bathroom are a little dated, with a step over bath & shower, but studio room was comfy , roomy and clean with a kitchenette and small balcony . Car parking is extra cost, and limited at the hotel, so if you’re a late check in, you may have to park at Howard Smith Wharves . There is a cafe located onsite , opening at 4 fir basic takeaway menu, but plenty of local restaurants will deliver to your door as well, with Uber eats, deliveroo, etc. . . AT the moment room costs are one of the cheapest in Brisbane, with great deals, All in all I’d definitely stay again, especially during a celebration with fireworks on the Story Bridge and River.

Location is the only redeeming feature of this tired apartment hotel. Air-conditioning unit in the room is just moving air, slowly too. No response from any change to the thermostat and no chilled air. Which is disappointing when you can't open the balcony door to the road noise from the adjoining Storey Bridge.
A sink, kettle, toaster And microwave are all the kitchen facilities in the studio room. No cooking facilities or pans. Ok if you want to to reheat frozen meals but not if you want to cook.
Massive spa bath which requires more hot water than the hot water system holds ? Shower over bath with no curtain or screen.
No working bathroom exhaust fan in the bathroom.
The pool is tiny, dirty and in need of repainting.
A running machine, elliptical trainer and weights/bench is the only gym equipment.
At the time of my stay of over three nights there was no daily servicing of the room.

I enquired about parking for a dinner guest and was directed to a nearby car park at a cost of $23 for 2 hours.

No kitchen was operational in the restaurant so the breakfast menu consisted of toasted sandwiches and coffee only.
No dinner service.

Hey OutbackDiesel, We appreciate your feedback and giving us a better insight into how your stay went. We are sorry to hear you had issues with the air conditioning in the room, and we have passed this over to our maintenance team for review. Our Studio rooms are one of the smaller rooms and are suitable for overnight stays or people looking for a standard hotel room. For guests looking for something a little larger with cooking facilities, we definitely suggest booking our One Bedroom Apartments, which includes cooking facilities. These rooms are more suited for guests staying for longer periods. Please know since your review we have since opened our restaurant fully now and offer plated meals. Coffee Pocket is located on the ground floor and is open daily. Due to the current environment with COVID-19, we are only doing servicing upon request; this limits the contact our team have with guests to ensure we minimise risk. You can request complimentary services at any time with our Guest Services Representatives at the reception desk. We do hope you give us another chance in the future. Kind regards, L. Deayton Hotel Manager

This hotel is located walking distance to Howard Smith Wharf restaurants and was reasonably priced for the location.
Although, the place feels very rundown. Firstly I requested two single bed and was given one queen bed without any explanation. There was mold in the shower and a part of the shower screen was missing which made the floors and bath mat drenched. Bath mats and towels were also not replaced daily, I had to request fresh towel from the front desk after two nights and no change of towels. Also, on check out day we had housekeeping knock on our door before 9.30am even though we had not yet checked out. Now for a few positives, the bed was comfortable and staff were friendly.

Storey Bridge view is definitely WORTHWHILE, the location to the Valley and Howard Smith Wharves, river walkways/cafes and restaurants is perfect as are the Staff, HOWEVER, the room itself was absolutely BUDGET, outdated and nothing at all like advertised. The fridge door needed extra pressure to ensure it closed properly, the bathroom faucets are from the 1850’s, the shower head from the 1830’s, the toilet dripped constantly and the dryer kept overheating and shorting out. We were booked for 2 nights, stayed 1. That was our decision, you make yours. Weigh up your preferences. $10 taxi fare to Casino
Good luck

I have stayed at Oakwood near Howard Smith Wharves on a few occasions and find it to be an excellent accomodation option. The location is central to restaurants/cafes and most importantly for me, to the river and boardwalk. The apartments are very clean and a good size for a couple. The staff are very welcoming, efficient and extremely helpful. During COVID, they have been vigilant and polite in testing which gives me a lot of confidence about their attention to hygiene. I highly recommend the Oakwood. Jill

The staff were extremely friendly and did their best with what they had to offer. When we arrived we were told our studio apartment was upgraded to a one bedroom apartment. We thought that was awesome news and were excited to see the room. We were then told that we had to pay $35 a day for parking if we wanted to park in their lot. Since the hotel is located downtown we didn’t have any option to park elsewhere for free so we were, in a way, forced to pay their fee. Upon checking into our room the air conditioner wasn’t working. After waiting some time we were given a new room, which was another upgrade from the one before. The air conditioner was working and the view was much nicer than the previous one. When we got back to our room later that night from an evening out downtown, we discovered the air conditioning wasn’t working again. We decided to just go to sleep instead of make a fuss. In the morning we wanted a late check out but when I tried to call the front desk the phone wasn’t working. All in all it was an okay experience. The staff was great but the hotel needs some updating.

Please know we offer some of Brisbane's cheapest hotel parking and have worked with local partners to ensure that we have a range of offerings. We are sorry to hear about the airconditioning. Unbeatable views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge, but that was where the joy ends. Perched on a huge hill, walkers are faced with either a hamstring stretching climb, or a long wait for a public elevator with scores of scooter and bike riders. Room had broken balcony furniture, a broken balcony door lock, a room safe that didn't work and a faulty room phone which means all communications with staff required a trip down to reception. Breakfast (limited choice) was included but coffee or tea was $5 extra and served in paper cups. Eagle St restaurants and Queen St Mall are walkable (20mins), but remember you'll have to haul the shopping bags back that distance as well.

My husband and I stayed here for our Valentine’s getaway. 1 night away in the studio room with riverview. The room itself was very spacious, also had a hot tub and the view was absolutely stunning. The bed however was pretty uncomfortable and hard, and the light in the morning through the curtains was bright so couldn’t enjoy a sleep in. The price of the room was very affordable however $35 a night for parking is not great at all. Should be included in the room, or a lot cheaper then that. The other downside was we had arranged for a massage to be done at the hotel. The hotel was not very accommodating to this and couldn’t provide on site parking.

Hey, We are glad to know you spent Valentine's Day with us! I'm sorry to hear your night and sleep in wasn't as comfortable as we would've liked. We are currently going through the process of replacing our curtains to deter this. We will definitely review our parking costs over the coming month; we try to be competitive with local providers, so we always offer our guests the best prices. Regarding the visitor parking, due to high occupancy and high flow through the hotel, we cannot always accommodate visitors. We do apologise for this and hope everything worked out and you enjoyed your massage. We hope to welcome you back soon. Until then, Luke.D Hotel Manager

It is time to go and family all set and ready to go one last check and one last time looking at a house I called home and it is time to say goodbye. One last goodbye at the Airport, New Zealand I will miss you and will always love you. Flying into Brisbane the beautiful clear summers afternoon the sun smiles moving over the horizon as we land. Will Australia welcome us and allow us to call this home. Walking into the Oakwook Apartments we were greeted with a warm smile and very friendly and helpful reception staff. I walked into our Apartment and everything was lovely clean and everything were in walking distance of the apartments not to mention the views. I sat on the balcony with a fresh cup of coffee and wondered what Brisbane has to offer. The Oakwood Apartment is well recommended and Flightcentre agent help me with this booking as I was not familiar with this Apartments. I thanked her for her excellent help to make the move stress free for myself and my two kids. Thanking Oakwood Apartments the first week is the toughest for new immigrants moving from home to a new country and they made it easy for us.

Tired hotel and basically you are paying for the view of the river. Room needs a Reno. Breakfast is a joke - 30 min wait for 2 simple meals and people walking away at 830 with a 45 min wait. Recommend you stay and eat some where else. Surly cafe staff but hard to blame them in these conditions.

0 Votes I would suggest ringing the apartments direct...having said that, we arrived from the country 2 hours earlier than expected and were welcomed with no fee . Incidentally , we booked through Groupon and saved about $25 if I remember...I do know we got a balcony at the csavings...also included a bottle of a good red.
