Had not stayed here for a while, last stay was a standard queen it was ok so we thought for the price lets book here again, (Friday -Sunday) some reviews we read seemed a bit scary but we decided to book the PET package which included the parking and wi-fi in the price all up very affordable and easy, The staff were great, very friendly and helpful.
The location is fantastic near the casino and the Queen street mall and not far at all from south bank.
If you are fussy or a perfectionist this isn't the place for you, go to the flash places that cost 2 to 3 times more lol but if your happy to get the best value and some where clean and reasonably comfortable this is the place.
We enjoyed it so much we are booked the same package for in a few weeks time for my birthday.

Check in was easy and staff were friendly. The room had a view of the Brisbane River and Southbank (however there was construction in front of the building so the view will likely be obstructed when that is completed). Parking was included in the PAW package (otherwise is $25) and they allowed me to leave the vehicle in the car park a couple past checkout. The car park is very tight in some spots and is only 1.80-1.90 height restrictions so not suitable for large vehicles. Overall, the stay was good, the bed was comfortably and the price was very reasonable ($85 for two people for one night).

We arrived to check in after making a booking via booking.com

When the checkin staff looked up our booking it was for 2023…. The look my wife gave me was priceless!!! However the checkin staff took care of everything!!! Got us into a family room, at a reasonable price and couldn’t have help us enough.

Once we got to our room, still no dramas, until we got home at around 11pm and went to bed. The bed was terrible… you could feel every spring, wire and seam!!! I had to get the extra blankets from the cupboard and fold them and put them under the bottom sheet, just to assist with a little comfort.

So, again the stars do not in anyway reflect the staff or the cleanliness of the room, it was just the uncomfortable bedding we had to endure.

We are regulars to this motel, 6 times over the last year
We love the PAW's package guaranteeing secure WiFi , a car park early check in and late check out.
This last trip was very disappointing, I always call on the day of travel to confirm parking, all good.
As we arrive new person at the desk attempted to charge us for parking, I had to point out it was included in the package.
No WiFi password in the envelope which is for the secure wifi, we were told to just use the the free unsecured wifi (not the deal)
No bathroom supplies (soap, shower gel ect).. we asked and was just given some soap packages as cleaners had gone home. We also confirmed we had a 12pm checkout on our last day but on the day of leaving at 10.45am we get a phone call saying it's a 10am checkout why haven’t we checked out, I reminded him as part of the package its a 12pm check out and we had confirmed this, they said there was no note on the system, about the late check out. (PART of the package anyway but we did!)
We left at 11.15am. Dropping the key cards in the card box on exit as we didn’t feel like dealing with them again and we have done this previously.
12.26pm I have a missed call from the motel, when I tried to return the call there was no answer.
Please train your Staff on your OWN package deals and their details we don’t need the humiliation of being called out by your staff (3 times) and having to explain that we are in the right and they would know this if they could just know and follow your own package deals and procedures
We will be in Brisbane again soon but will go somewhere where the staff know what they are doing.

Pleasant room, helpful staff, good breakfast, clean pool and central location; what more could you want ! Located near the casino and associated free public transport, this is a very accessible location. The staff helped us to obtain the best available room price via their app and this helpfulness is consistent with our experience over our 3 day stay. The room was recently renovated and unaffected by background 'city noise' (like garbage trucks).

The staff were friendly and the lobby was nice and clean. That’s about the only nice thing I can say. The hallways looked like they were in a place that you could rent by the hour and the room didn’t get much better. The shower head was broken, the towel hooks on the back of the door had fallen off, the lamp was broken and the power points made me very nervous. The overall feel of the room was completely depressing! Thankfully we were in brisbane to see a comedy show so we tried to see the humor in the fact that the hotel was so terribly awful you had to laugh. I know this is a budget hotel, but we have stayed in plenty of other hotels in the same area around the same price that were infinitely better! Would NEVER stay here again!

Not worth the money. Comfortable bed but en suite was tiny (cramped with two people standing shoulder to shoulder). Breakfast basic (cereals cheap bottom shelf products and tinned fruit). Hotel was being renovated and this impacted overall cleanliness and experience. Staff friendly. Location excellent.

There was a small problem with our room but the front desk were more than happy to help and changed our rooms without a problem! The room was spacious, clean and had a modern feel to it. The hot breakfast was exceptional and the cook was very obliging and friendly. The location is right near city centre and very close to public transport and walking distance to the local markets, museum, Goma gallery and probably much more! Overall the hotel had a very nice welcoming feel to it and came with a great price.

I was impressed from the moment that I arrived. The front counter staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was very spacious. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was fantastic. The air-conditioning was quiet, and very cool. They hae a large but extremely cheap breakfast available. The bonus for me was that I stayed on a Sunday night, and got a ridiculously cheap price. It is less than a 5 minute walk to the Treasury Casino. Would recommend.

I had to overnight in Brisbane and decided to stay at the Great Southern because I had stayed there many tines when it was called The Chifley.
The Great Southern was offering a really cheap deal for a Brisbane CBD location too.
However my stay was a great disappointment!
At check in I asked about meals and was told that the restaurant was closed due to COVID-19. Of course for anyone who had been living under a rock this year this would have come as news and the simple fact that you could see the barricaded off restaurant from reception might have offered some clue too!
What was the most disappointing part was there was no offer of alternatives or 'here are the places that deliver to here.' It seemed to be important for reception to get back to talking to each other.
My room was a disappointment as it appeared to have been refurbished having an uncovered light fitting in the main room, a cover falling off in the bathroom, no tissues and no pen just seemed to lack simple touches that a supposed 4 star establishment has.
I was also entertained by cat in the corridor outside my room that miaowed and tried to get in before another guest picked it up.

It does not surprise me at all. I arrived as a tour manager of a group of fifteen with the WIFI down. Whilst the staff worked diligently to get it fixed it took them until the next working day to have the issue fixed. The staff also tried to put on a brave face and try to help out. We can attest that the car park is too small as one of vans on a previous visit was damaged trying to navigate the tight corners of the car park. I did find also lifts being shared as goods lifts. Not the professional look that a four star hotel should be portraying.

Do you have parking? What are the costs and is the parking secured?
Answer from MARTY

Yes but you will only fit if you have a small tiny car I can not believe that thing they call a car park. Is not a car park at all. It is the tiniest car park I’ve ever seen I’ve scratched my Mercedes Benz Rim because it’s so small. It needs to be a wider carpark. :)
