I had not stayed in the Hotel Jen Brisbane before. The good news: an excellent hotel, good room (being on a high floor I especially liked the view down to Roma Street Station and the Parklands), and an excellent Asian cuisine restaurant with friendly helpful staff. The location was very well placed for town, for a walk across to Southbank, and for Roma Street station. But the bad news: the hotel is about to be knocked down (mid December) as part of a major redevelopment of the area by the Queensland government. So be it. A staff member said "we are in denial" but good luck to them.
Hotel was central for all amenities in Brisbane, and was in easy reach to walk to Queen Street for shopping.
The hotel is right next to the transit station, unfortunately our room overlooked this, but as we were only in the room to sleep it didn't bother us. There was a sign in reception stating that the hotel was due to close in the middle of December. Yes the hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment, but the staff seemed to be putting on a brave face even though had no job to look forward to.
Restaurant called The Nest was pleasant but had no atmosphere, food was good but not exceptional
Very happy with Hotel Jen and would definitely stay there again. Good price room in heart of the city, short walk to everywhere you want to be, right next to central train station, safe area and plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops surrounding it. The check-in and check-out process were both super efficient and professional and our standard room was nice - bigger than most standard rooms, well furnished, modern, clean, good view and just 'felt good'. Money well spent - thank you Hotel Jen.
Hotel Jen is next door to the Roma Street Train Station. We trained back from the Gold Coast and had one night at the Jen before using the AirTrain the next day to the airport…fantastic location in the CBD, but surprisingly quiet. The staff were all very professional, helpful and stored our luggage as we had a late flight home. The Jen hotel is very modern, super clean and the rooms are excellent, we had a deluxe King suite, it was a massive room with fantastic views of the city and the awesome sunset. The second floor dining & bar area ”The Nest” is an excellent restaurant with amazing food at reasonable prices and the staff are so friendly and helpful. And the view out of the dinning room looks at a tree with coloured lanterns, sets a nice scene. Highly recommend you stay here we will definitely be coming back as our go to Hotel in Brisbane from now on.
As our coach tour left early next day we booked into Hotel Jen with just a short undercover walk to the coach station, virtually in the same building. Also as we flew into Brisbane it was an easy matter to just get the SkyTrain to Roma Street which again is virtually next door with the coach station, so a nice, easy walk under cover. The hotel itself was comfortable, quiet and clean. No worries at all
