Detailed Reviews
Paid for an upgrade to a room at the back after reading reviews describing noise levels. Glad we did because this motel fronts a busy motorway and still traffic noise at a bearable level from back row room. Room was large and very clean although 2 small living cockroaches in bathroom. Husband found bed to be perfect but I had trouble sleeping on it. You can’t please everyone. When we arrived around 5pm the main door to the office was locked but a fellow, either a customer or worker was sitting on a waiting area seat in the reception area and told me the manager was not there but I could use a side door. That was no problem as within a minute or 2 the manager arrived and I told him who I was and he remembered I had called an hour before to check on the availability of a suite rather than a room. Only thing that stopped me short of giving 5 stars was the manager’s apparent distain at having to serve a customer. The dear man couldn’t have looked or come across to me as more put out by having to attend my booking. He offered very little information. When I asked about the wifi password ( wifi did not work at all by the way, even with instructions ) he disinterestedly told me it’s on the back of the key. Also on the back of the key was information on what to do if the tv gives a no signal message. I don’t know why he couldn’t be bothered to explain that. So all up, he was a very poor ambassador for the motel and could easily, single handily ruined the start of someone’s vacation vibe with his “ can I just get this over and done with” vibe. I maintained my chirpy and happy disposition in the meagre attempt of cheering up this poor soul. Alas, it wasn’t to be although when I asked about distances /directions to a venue we were to attend, old mate, worker/customer was all for telling me everything I needed to know. Thank goodness I had him to share the information I needed because once that key was in my hand, Mr manager had done his part and no further talk appeared to be necessary! Maybe HE needs a holiday? Other than that, the suite was suitable for a longer stay with microwave, cooktop, kettle and mini fridge/freezer. There was adequate crockery , cutlery, pans, toaster and washing up items to be able to prepare food for 2. We only stayed the one night and did not eat dinner or breakfast from the dining room on site. I knew about the dining room from reading reviews, not Mr Manager.

Great welcoming staff. Undercover parking outside the room. Renovated and in good condition. A/C absolutely silent on heating and worked well. Exec Queen room had iron and kitchenette with microwave, fridge, cutlery and plates. Large bathroom and large room. No dining table. Very clean with shampoo, conditioner, soap and hand lotion. Didn’t eat at the restaurant unfortunately. We were at the back and the road noise did not disturb us with the window closed. No noise from adjoining rooms. Lots of street and off street parking for trucks and cars. Easy access to everywhere we wanted to go.

I could see old mate sleeping on the sofa inside. When I woke him up to check in, he wasn't at all very happy about it.
The first welcome should always be fresh, bubbly and at least a "hello how can I help you today", if I can remember bluntly from earlier this year there was a young lady at the front, she needs to be there all the time. Instead, I was welcomed with "do you have a booking" from the gentlemen. It was a bit off putting if you asked me. After I paid for the booking, he handed me the key. Told me to watch the pole in case my car hurts it? and that everything I need to know is on the back, a bit lazy (If I was the owner, he would have been sacked!)
Rooms are lovely at the back, my card swiping in had a few issues, but I didn't want to go back to the reception to ask the man there to help in case "I ruined even more of his day" so I kept on trying until FINALLY it unlocked. (Flat battery maybe). I'm guessing that if its beeping and changing colors they should change the door locks?
Bed was extremely comfy and well made! Housekeepers did a great job.
But the man at the front really threw me off! My partner is a regular truck driver who stops at Darra and I hope that he doesn't get the same treatment that I did!
Poorest customer service received!

Stayed for 6 nights and didn't think once about going anywhere else for food or hospitality. The room, restaurant and general venue is superbly maintained and clean. There is an onsite chef who cooked great meals with plenty of options. What topped off a good experience were the owners Tony and Paul, who made you feel welcome and old fashion service where they remembered your name and actually hung around dinner time to serve and check everything was ok. There is a pool table as well, to have a relaxing chat and game after dinner if you wish. Great place, hopefully can get back there again.
Regards, Mark

We had rooms at the back of the property which would have been much quieter than had we been at the front closer to the main road.
The room and all facilities were scrupulously clean. Beds were comfortable.
The whole Family stayed at the property in a total of five rooms. We had dinner together on a Monday evening. The food on site is brilliant and well priced.
Would definitely recommend this property.

From the moment we pulled up in the convenient parking we felt like we were being welcomed home. The motel's fresh decor and colours and bright personalities of the staff were just the beginning of our memorable stay at the Darra Motel and Conference Centre. From the ceiling to the carpet and everything in between was clean and crisp in a quiet oasis, we completely forgot about the bustling hub of adventure awaiting us nearby! The menu catered for all but I was particularly impressed by the Darra Dazzler and the range of beers, wines and spirits available at the restaurant bar. Value for money, will definitely stay again!!

Not only were we given a good price but upgraded and placed out the back away from traffic noise. Staff friendly and helpful. Had a good stay and were well looked after. Hope to be back as location is close to family. Easy access to both Centenary and Ipswich Motorways that gets a person to most places. About a 12-15 minute walk to Darra train station or a $7.50 Uber ride. Bakery and service station with takeaway and many goods and nibbles only a few minutes walk away.

Amid all the doom and gloom surrounding this worldwide Corona virus crisis. A big shout out to the owners at the Darra Motel and Conference Centre in Ipswich Qld who graciously accepted the cancellation of our booking due to CMC Rocks being postponed. In a world of increasingly selfish people it was nice to deal with someone who completely understood the situation. Well done. 👏👏👏 We hope to get there one day soon.
