This hotel deserves only for its location and price. Formerly Formula 1, it has passed under the Ibis Budget brand and retains all the features of these hotels. The property is spread over 3 floors and there is no elevator, so take this into account because climbing with suitcases is not comfortable. The rooms are small and spartan, but overall they are quite clean. Another element to consider: the reception closes at 10pm, so you have to be absolutely sure you can check in by that time otherwise everything gets complicated. There is a small meeting room, with tables and chairs for eating (ordering or bringing from outside) and some vending machines for drinks.
Basically: it doesn't deserve much, but it costs very little and is convenient to the airport. If you can swallow the inconveniences described above, then it may be fine.

I am writing a review here solely because of the last reviews I have read really gave this place a bad name.

We stayed here for one night after flying in and waiting for a cruise to depart the next day. Here are a few things you might want to know.

1) Taxi from domestic airport to here is about $25. Uber might be a touch cheaper but it’s a longer walk to the Uber pickup at the domestic airport. This hotel doesn’t have a shuttle bus anymore.

2) The rooms are a bit small but no where near as bad as some reviews state. For our family of three with a lot of luggage it was all good. Even has a fridge and coffee and tea making area. The bunk bed is definitely a hard mattress but our child didn’t care. The main bed was really comfy. Yes if you look really carefully you will see some areas that could do with a better clean but the room was hygienic.

3) It is a 3 story building with no lifts but the stairs are quite easy to lug bags up. No issues.

4) DFO Skygate is just across the road. So close! BUT, you can’t walk there because of the highways and way DFO is designed to stop access from this side. We used an Uber and taxi which costs about $10-$15 each way. Frustrating, but it’s the only way. There is no shuttle bus anymore.

5) For $10 a head there is a continental breakfast downstairs. There is also coffee and muffins. Or you could pick up breakfast food from the 24/7 Woolworths if you went to DFO the day before.

6) It’s about $30 taxi or Uber to the cruise terminal.

Would we stay here again? Yes we would but I would also add up all these transport costs and see if it would be cheaper at Ibis airport or Novotel sky gate. It could also be cheaper to rent a car one way from airport to cruise terminal to avoid all these taxi and Uber costs. I just want to make it clear that the hotel itself and the rooms are not as bad as some people have stated.

Repeat guests we have stayed here before and find it very easy it’s clean and has great aircon and shower is hot.
If you have heavy bags ask for ground floor there is no elevator
The only thing I am not sure they are aware of on booking.com it says $5 per day to park car but it’s actually $10 per car when you get there.
Customer service is always very polite and welcoming

Keep in Mind before reading this, we were charged $189 for one night for this room...
I travel a lot for work, and as a result, I stay in dozens of different motels each year. I can honestly say, this place tops the list for the worst most disgusting place I have ever stayed.
My first opinion of pulling up to this motel after we returned from overseas, was that it looked like it had been abandoned some years ago. Obviously maintaining the outside of this property is not at the top of anyone's list...
The reception was closed as we arrived just after midnight. the computerized check-in system was out of order (and judging by a few other reviews, it has been this way for some time). We had received an email when we first booked which had a pin code on it. I tried to use that code on the lockbox on the wall, but it would not work. I managed to find the intercom, and as I pushed it the kid come barging out the door and quickly turned it off, then abruptly without any introduction asked my last name. He then entered a code and got my envelope out quickly said my room number and then said I should have received a text (no text was received), then rushed back inside.
We walked in and it looked like we had interrupted his card game with friends.
My first impression walking in was the same as the outside, it has been neglected for many years and is well overdue for a makeover.
We proceeded to our room, and as we entered the hallway, we were greeted with the overwhelming smell of sewage. By the time we got to the end of the hallway, we had forgotten what room number he said, and it was not written on the envelope or room card, so I had to walk back and asked him again, and his body language and tone reflected that I had interrupted his card game again and was not impressed.
once we got into the room, I was genuinely shocked at how tiny it was, there was a double bed and a single bunk bed above it. This room only had space for 1 person, let alone 3. There was nowhere to sit except on the bed. The room was so tiny that the wife and I had to squeeze past each other. The room had one light which was a verticle fluorescent light on the wall with no protective coverings. The bathroom was also tiny with stained floors, stained shower curtains, and stained towels. I had to run the water in the shower for over 4 minutes before any hot water started coming out. Only a crappy shower gel was provided no shampoo, conditioner, or hand soap.
We turned the aircon on and were greeted with a face full of moldy air. On a quick inspection of the aircon unit, it was clear, like the rest of the place maintenance and cleaning are not at the top of the priority list for this property.
Pulling back the sheets to go to sleep, we discovered the sheets were also stained...
When we woke up in the morning, I went to make a coffee, but was disgusted by the state of the kettle, and decided to wait till we got back to the airport.
This property has a 3-star rating. Under the Australian "Star Ratings" it fails to meet the stated expectations. It even fails to meet the 1-star expectations.
Owners and management need to urgently address the appalling state of this property and do some training on customer service.

Avoid this hotel like plague if you need to check in after 9pm.

I booked this hotel for a stay on May 28th. They informed me that I would need to let them know if I was checking in after 9pm. I said I would be checking in after 11:30pm because my flight was coming in to the Brisbane airport at that time. They said they would send me a room number and code to enter via a private entrance the day of.

I reminded them on the morning of May 28th that I still had not received the pass code and room number and please would they send it. After arriving at 11:30pm at the airport I found that nothing still had been sent and they were uncontactable. I ended up spending an hour on the phone with Expedia who I had booked it through and ultimately all they said they could do is refund me my money. I ended up booking another hotel which was more than twice the cost of the first.

Do yourself a favour and never stay here. We were provided this accommodation by Virgin Australia due to delayed flights for 2 nights. The taxi driver made us worried when he said not sure why anyone would stay here. Upon arrival the receptionist advised the hotel was surrounded by freeways and you had to get a taxi to go anywhere. There was nothing in the reception area except for a basic breakfast. We looked at our rooms and were disgusted, the rooms were mouldy and smelly with bars on windows , carpets dirty, Hair in showers, one of the room door didn't lock and for the first time ever I left the accommodation and stayed elsewhere.

I had the worst experience staying at Ibis Budget Brisbane airport hotel. First of all the name is very deceptive. It is not at the airport, it is few minutes drive from the airport. The taxi cost is $22-$25 one way. I booked the hotel in a bit of rush due to the disruption of flights from Brisbane due to the weather. I thought I could just walk there but when I arrived late night I was told that the you can't walk to the Ibis budget Brisbane airport hotel is few minutes drive away and you can't walk there.
When I got there (around 9:30pm) there was a staff member (young boy) outside who was very helpful and handed the keys of the room from the safe outside as the reception was closed. when I went to my room, there was no towel and no soap in the bathroom. there was no notes or messages in the room on how to get or who to contact if something is missing from the room. I had to catch my next flight early morning so left for the airport before 7am and no staff at reception. I couldn't even take a shower. This was the worst experience I ever had at a hotel. when I contacted the hotel and provided feedback , the staff Shaun who answered the call started to argue that why didn't I look at the instructions next to the safe outside as there is an emergency contact number to call. This was the most pathetic response from a staff member working in hospitality I have ever received. I explained that there was a big storm outside and there was no-one at reception so how on earth someone would dare to even walk out of the room trying to find instructions which are located outside the building. The hotel staff should have the decency of leaving soap and a towel in a room before someone checks in. I will never ever stay in IBIS budget Brisbane airport hotel again and dont recommend to anyone.

Response from Belinda Blanchard, General Manager at Ibis Budget Brisbane Airport
Responded 17 May 2022
Thank you for your review sheharban0n. We are sorry to hear the ibis Budget Brisbane Airport did not meet your expectations. We are pleased to hear that we were able to accommodate you last minute due to disruptions at the Airport and the sever weather conditions that resulted in Brisbane Flooding. We are terribly sorry that our normal fantastic service dropped over this period and stressful time for all involved. As with all hotels in the area, we tried to put as many rooms online to accommodate stranded travelers; whilst we had supply chain issues with linen and staffing issues, due to their homes being flooded. Our linen order was not received until a lot later than normal and we must have missed your room when going back to the clean rooms to add towels. We do have an emergency intercom at the front door, as well as signage inside stating if you need after hours assistance to press this. However I am sorry if you believe Sean came across as argumentative during this stressful time. Once again, I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. I do hope you return to the hotel under normal circumstances to see the true hospitality we deliver and so many guests compliment. Thank you for your feedback Kind regards Belinda B

A cancelled flight meant we needed a hotel close to the airport so I booked the Ibis Budget. Big mistake. From start to finish the experience was woeful. We were given a key to room that was already occupied (man asleep on bed when we opened the door). We were allocated another room (no apology) and it was smelly, small, noisy and horrible. I understand that it's a budget hotel and my expectations weren't high but for $170 (is that really budget??) this was totally unsatisfactory. Ibis (Accor) need to do much better than this.

We were fortunate to stay at the Ibis Budget Brisbane Airport for 7 nights. Belinda, the GM was so kind and attentive regarding our last minute booking and taking care of some details for us to ensure we had the best experience. We certainly did!

Belinda and all her lovely Team members are so friendly, helpful and go out of their way to create the best guest experience possible. Josephine and Brad who we dealt with a fair bit are amazing and so helpful and it was delightful being looked after by such polite and caring young people. All we dealt with were excellent in their role.

Attention to the disinfecting of surfaces was really good to see.

It is an older property and whilst it would be fair to say some refurbishment could be good it is not run down as the cleaning is top notch and it is also a very safe place to stay. Very quiet. One can feel confident staying there in so many ways.

We were also very impressed with the gardens created, despite limited space, to provide a lovely barrier from the roadways. Our room was facing the roads but it was exceptionally quiet and this was made possible due also to the double glazing. Free parking is a bonus especially in that area and all in all it was a lovely experience and we would definitely return with confidence.

As we often say it comes from the top and Belinda has a great future with Accor due to her positive attitude and can do approach. She is a great asset in the making for the Accor group, In addition this hotel is one of the few Budget Ibis who now give status points and nights to Accor members.

Anything that cropped up Belinda dealt with swiftly with a smile including a lock issue that was proving difficult for her. Nothing was too much trouble and Belinda is very solution driven which is a huge attribute in hospitality. She also has a lovely warm and easy going personality so this made us very welcome.

Many thanks to you all and we hope that as aspects improve with the Covid that you will be able to resume breakfast etc.

DO NOT STAY HERE.
Accor hotels you should be ashamed of yourselves. This is not a hotel, it is at best a hostel and at worst a disgustingly dirty hovel.
We did not expect a five star hotel but we stayed at the Auckland NZ Airport ibis and so expected the same service for what was approximately the same price.
The ibis budget airport hotel is in an industrial area, it has nowhere close to get a meal , it has no lifts , no hair dryers, no shuttle service to the airport. This hotel piggy banks on the advertising for the more impressive airport hotel , many sites show photos and reviews of the other ibis airport hotel . There were at least three other who had also made the same mistake when booking.
The cost of addition taxi fares was approximately $100.00.
