Nestled in a prime location, W Brisbane is a hit with guests for its easy access to transport, shopping, and dining around the South Bank. The hotel's rooms earn praise for their generous size and contemporary style, although there have been mentions of sporadic maintenance and cleanliness issues.
While the overall cleanliness and amenities like the spotless pool area are applauded, some inconsistencies in housekeeping and service have been noted. Despite its modern and unique atmosphere, opinions on value for money and the hotel's ambiance are divided, with some guests finding it lacking.

Stay there 4 nights from 8 to 12 Oct in the Wonderful Room. The build and interior works are great with the geometric graphics and bold colours. The service is excellent and vivid. Olivia from the concierge is the super star. Food & beverage I didn’t try coz there are tons of choices within walking distance. Location in CBD is fantastic except parking.
Room is spacious and well furnished. All the furniture and lights control setting is very user friendly. Staff at every stop including the GM welcoming guest at the breakfast restaurant are so energetic, warm and friendly. Olivia is the hero who gave great suggestion, friendly and homey tone and smile. She herself speaks the brand moral and make my stay so easy and enjoyable.
When everything comes to satisfaction, there are a few minor issues that could bring improvement. 1) I don’t understand the logic and execution of refilling amenities. I got make up remover wipes on the first night but not the following nights. I was given an ear plug after requesting the wipes by a note. I got one toothbrush kit for double occupancy. I got 2 soaps at a time. 2) usually there’s a floor towel. I thought the one hanging on bathtub is a floor towel so I placed it on floor. However it looks exactly the same as the other 4 towels on rack. Then I stop using it as I couldn’t imagine using same towel for floor and hair. 3) the small bin is divided into recycle and non-recycle. Eventually I can’t put trash in as it’s too small but can only trash everything in the toilet bin. 4) if I have to say the worst part is the shower and tub. The water pressure in the shower room is extremely low that water runs slowly and small. I can’t have a proper shower. The water at the bathtub is extremely strong that it splashes water all over the floor when you turned to the far end for warm water.
In general, it’s a 5-star great hotel. In consideration of how much you pay, you deserve the best that the hotel should do a little better.

We treated ourselves to a special anniversary stay at the W Brisbane and we loved every bit of it!! The service at the W is fantastic. From check in to check out, no question is a bother and the staff at the W are more than willing to help out. Our package included early check in and a late 4 pm check out and this gift of time is luxurious in itself. We received a beautiful congratulatory card from Marjorie at reception with a bottle of wine - this was greatly appreciated. Concierge also greeted us downstairs and took our bags straight up for us directly to our room.
Our room was upgraded to a high floor Fabulous room which was clean and super comfortable with a lovely view of the Story Bridge and Brisbane River. The bathroom is decked out with bathrobes and all the amenities you would expect. There is a full size bathtub which is divine!! The room has a special spirits/mixers bar which is fun for drinkers but we made use of the in room dining for lunch and dinner. We were able to order from the Wet Deck and they delivered to our room. We also ordered from the in room dining menu - the food was generous and excellent quality.
The room is completely electronic which is fun - the lighting is very modern and I enjoyed the blackout curtains which were also electronic, and make the room quite dark for sleeping. We take our own pillows everywhere we go, so I can't comment on the pillows!
We didn't go to the spa, however that is on my list for next time. There are a range of treatments that you can choose from, but in addition to that, you can also enjoy the steam room or sauna free of charge and there are also very large hot tub spas that you can enjoy - they had a magnesium pool going which looked very inviting.
A hot tip is that we parked in Brisbane Quarter which is the same building as the W - the whole weekend cost us $12.75 through Wilson parking. It is a good, cheap option!
Thank you W Brisbane. We'll be back for sure!

The W exceeded my expectations from start to finish!
The staff should be commended on their dedication to hospitality. From the staff member that engaged my family on the lift, to the very friendly and helpful valet drivers, to the hard working bar staff at the pool, who constantly cleared away food, ensured sunscreen was on very second table and what looked to be both high ranking and low ranking staff jumping into action to move and close umbrellas and pool beds during a sudden storm- from start to finish, the positive interactions were fantastic.
This dedication also branched into the physical environment and amenities. The little things down to the mat on the elevator which changed depending on the time of day, to having a eucalyptus smell added to the cold towels by the pool, to the fact that you could go to the pool 24 hours a day….
We stayed in a variety of hotels going up the coast from Sydney to Brisbane (some twice the price of the W) and this was by far and away the best hotel of the journey.
Keen to explore more W hotels in the future!

Hi David, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your stay at W Brisbane. We truly appreciate your loyalty as a Platinum Bonvoy member and regret to hear that we fell short of your expectations during your visit. We’re thrilled to offer our vibrant location and stunning views, but we understand the importance of delivering exceptional experiences that go above and beyond, especially for our loyal members. We sincerely apologise if the suite upgrade process left you feeling disappointed. We truly value your feedback and would love the opportunity to restore your confidence in us. Please feel free to reach myself directly so we can address your concerns further and make things right. We stayed at this hotel for two nights, expecting a five-star experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to our expectations. While the interior design might appeal to social media enthusiasts, we found it overly flashy and very tacky, giving it an almost haunted house vibe.
For a luxury hotel, certain details fell short. Instead of fresh milk, we were provided with a small UHT packet, and the air conditioning struggled to keep even our south-facing room cool. Additionally, we were surprised to find the room wasn’t serviced after our first night—no fresh towels or restocked tea, coffee, or milk. We requested replacements, which were eventually delivered after a 35min wait in a ziplock bag left outside our door without any notice—far from the attentive service we expected.
The room itself was disappointingly dusty, with low-quality sheets and towels. Even the main entry foyer lacked any wow factor, and the decor in our room felt more tacky than tasteful. Overall, the service was slow and inattentive, which was disappointing given the $700 per night rate. We had hoped for a far better experience.

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet the high standards we aim to provide. We understand how important these details are to creating a memorable and comfortable experience, and it’s disappointing to learn that we missed the mark in several areas during your visit. Your comments on the room servicing and amenities have been shared with our team for immediate review. I apologise for the oversight and the delay in delivering your requested items—this isn’t the level of attentiveness we strive for, and we’re working to address these service gaps to prevent them in the future. Regarding the room decor and ambiance, we understand that design is deeply personal and may not resonate with everyone. However, your feedback is valuable as we strive to ensure our unique style enhances, rather than detracts from, the overall guest experience. Thank you again for your insights, which are invaluable in helping us improve. Should you choose to stay with us again, please feel free to reach out directly—I’d love the opportunity to ensure a more enjoyable experience.

Summary: a very good hotel for a short stay, a couple of minor areas for improvement to get a perfect score next time.
The Good:
Location - I found the location to be excellent, walking distance to South Bank and plenty of great bars and restaurants nearby. Roma Street and Central train stations within ten minute walk as well, this is handy if you are planning to get the airport train.
Room - my '1 King Bed, Partial River View, Wonderful Guest Room' was very well appointed and comfortable. Big bed with soft pillows and I loved the bathroom with large high pressure shower and separated toilet behind a sliding glass door. Luxurious toiletries were also a plus. Sleep quality was excellent with proper blackout automated curtains.
Amenity - onsite gym was excellent, good selection of strength and cardio equipment. I also had it to myself most days. Only thing missing is a smith machine or squat rack.
Digital Key - as an introvert, I enjoyed being able to check-in and out via the Bonvoy app and also use this as my room key. This meant over the course of my stay I had zero interaction with staff, which to me is a massive plus - although I appreciate perhaps not for everyone.
The Bad:
Cleanliness - there is visible wear and tear in the room, including some stains on the carpet. Weird smells were present in the hallway, smelled to me like burned food.
Construction - at the time of my visit (August 2024) there is significant construction outside the front of the hotel for the so called Brisbane Metro. I could hear this during the day, even though I was on level 18. This also makes it hard to access the front entrance of the hotel as a pedestrian, especially as the Ann Street entrance appeared to be closed on weekends.
Backlit switches - for those who are light sensitive, be aware there are backlit switches that can't be turned off, so the room is never fully dark. I always travel with an eye mask for this reason.
Smokers - be aware that the front entrance of the hotel near the 'W' sign is also the designated smoking area, so if you choose to enter the property this way you will have to run the gauntlet of the smokers. This was very unpleasant, especially on Saturday night, as many non-hotel guest also attend the properties bar and restaurant.
Conclusion: This is the second time I have stayed here and would not hesitate to return a third next time I'm in Brisbane. The 'negatives' could easily be addressed by the hotel management if they choose to.

We stayed at W Brisbane and found this hotel to be very solid, and in fact above average compared to other Ws where we have stayed before. Far from being mostly a party hotel, this is a proper luxury hotel with excellent hardware in addition to being more interesting than traditional and boring hotels - this is what a W should be and I can highly recommend it.
We proactively received an upgrade as Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite to the third category of suites (fantastic suite room type) which was quite spacious 80 sqm (double shower!) with nice views of the river from our high floor.
The service was very good before our stay and during our stay; they prepared a nice welcome and koala gift for our daughter who was visiting Australia for the first time and it became the 40th country she visited in her life!
We also rented a car during our stay and the hotel arranged everything for us, they could even use my credit card on file at the hotel for payment with Hertz and arranged for them to bring the car to the hotel and I could simply return the car to the hotel front entrance and they took care of the rest.
In the morning, breakfast was perhaps not at the level of what we can find in Asia or the Middle East, but it was not far behind. For example, they had imaginative healthy choices such as maple glazed pumpkins and charred broccoli with jalapenos and mint.
One small criticism is about the specialty coffee machine. Some hotels include regular coffee as part of the breakfast but some special drinks require an extra charge. I don’t like this practice but I can understand it for non-luxury hotels. At luxury hotels this is more questionable however and it can give a feeling of nickel & diming to guests. At W Brisbane it was somewhat in the middle: it was one free per guest, but any extra would be charged, so not as stingy as some hotels but still not sure it’s worth making staff have that conversation with guests.
Overall there is a lot to like about this hotel and given the local competition I think W is hard to beat. I also considered Westin but the price was not materially different for my dates so it seems W is the better option.

The W stands for WTF. Whilst the staff were more than welcoming, the services and facilities at the W were not what I would call 5 star worthy. It seemed to be the calamity of errors, firstly, we went to the bar to enjoy a cocktail in the sun, only to be served in a glass with lipstick on it. This continued, throughout the stay, with missed orders being made and disappointment with the cocktails being watery and tasteless. The room was nice, clean and well laid out, but when you went to use the bath tub, you need a degree to figure out the tap, in short, twist past 180 degrees, then it goes to warm and it hits the tub before it can go to full power. Don’t start me on the mini bar, the prices are on a sign behind everything rather than forward facing and visible, or included like other hotels. For such a highly rated hotel, we were given mismatched showering toiletries, one from this brand the other from another. Really..? Our room wasn’t made and we needed to book it in. Let’s just say, for a 5 star, it gets 3 from me.

Stayed at the W in Brisbane on our return back to Brisbane from the Gold Coast for two nights. On arrival our room was not ready by the actual check-in time, was told they would call to let us know when it would be ready. Ended up having to return to reception again to ask when the room would be available, as it was now way past the check-in time. The person at reception looked shocked and immediately gave us a room. Booked for three people yet no roll away bed was provided, however the person who sorted our room out sorted this out with out fuss and was very accommodating and helpful, so he turned around our initial frustration and disappointment. Stayed in one of the Top Suits on the 29th floor which had fantastic views of Brisbane, room was large, two large TV's, Bar, Big Bathroom and Two W/c's etc. Found the standard of the cleaning average, would suggest management pay close attention to this, especially when one is paying around $750.00 per night, as expectations are rightly higher. Staff were all friendly and helpful and would stay again at the W when in Brisbane again.

My husband and I stayed for one night (a Friday night) in a Spectacular room with River view. We had valet parking, late checkout and breakfast included in our stay, and an odd free cocktail included only in the Living room bar. The valet staff were what we first encountered and were friendly and efficient.
I requested a high floor room, and was not given one.... I think we were on the 10th floor.
The room most certainly had a fantastic full river view which we were very happy with. The hotel is reasonably new but a couple of things in the room were a bit broken - one of the handles on the minibar drawer, and the birdcage wardrobe didn't close properly without a bit of jangling. The toiletries were great, the tub was pretty cool although as we were only there one night I didn't get to test it out. The minibar items are really ridiculously expensive, I feel they would be rarely used.
We ventured out to get our free cocktail in the Living room (lobby) bar, which actually tasted fairly good for a free cocktail. The bar did not really have much atmosphere, beyond a few groups having high tea and some office workers having a Friday afternoon drink.
The pool area was crowded, there was not one spare bed in site, and you really have to be confident with everyone staring directly at you to get into your togs and in that pool. We felt a bit uncomfortable in that area. It did not seem very practical for those who actually want to have a swim. Its only a bar really with a big "water feature".
Breakfast was a la carte at the Three Blue Ducks. Options were a bit limited but the breakfast was quite delicious (scrambled egg on toast with a side of avocado was what I chose) with fresh juice and coffee. The restaurant had a breezy outdoor balcony that was quite fresh in the morning and provided a nice outlook.
We would stay again if we had a good rate inclusive of parking, breakfast etc as we did on this occasion.

The hotel is right in the CBD so any parking is going to be around this price. Maybe you could look at the prices at the Myer Centre...
Tipping isn't a thing in Australia. We only tip if we've had GREAT service etc.
There are more places to choose from in the Brisbane area.
