Detailed Reviews
I loved the character of Kookaburra Inn. It was quiet and I had a restful stay. Thought was put into how homey the motel was. It was more like a hostel with an older charm to it. Hand made quilts were on the bed and the staff were very helpful with my bags and getting me settled. Would recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely doAmazing place, so welcoming and comfortable. Room size was good, showers and toilets are spotless so was the room and as soon as you walked in you could smell how fresh it was. The owner and I think her son are an amazing team, so welcoming and inviting and such a breath of fresh air. Would recommend Kookaburra in over any 5 star hotel in Brisbane all day. Thanks guys for going above and beyond for your customers.

Right in a good centre of Brisbane, close to all facilities you need. Walking distance to stores and shops.
Rooms have essentials, bathrooms close by. Clean and comfy beds.
The manager and staff were absolutely kind and helpful. Cheers to you Sean & Steve! Thank you so much!
Genuine and wholesome people to meet, that made my stay so much better.
Definitely will stay again when travelling.
The Kookaburra Inn is a nice refreshing place to stay to meet new people and backpackers for an affordable and budget price, that just can't be beat with the area that it's in.

There are pluses and minuses here! The location is wonderful and the hosts are very helpful. I love old and quirky but the place is very rundown and the online photos seem a bit more glamorous than reality. It is really a backpackers and wasn't advertised that way and I felt $65pp for a twin with shared bathroom was a high price by backpacker stds.

Dear Annette, Thank you for the valuable review and comments! :) Yes~ out place is bit old structured...and slowly upgrading one by one :), and we ty to keep the place clean and tidy :) For the price wise, it was $130 a night for twin room (2 single beds in a room for 2 person), backpackers charge $65-85/night/bed in 8-10 beds dormitory in Brisbane city area. You can easily find out and compare the price, and you will find out that our price is quite good :) Hope you had a good time in Brisbane~ :) Wish you the best with the rest of your trip and have a great day! :) Kind regards, Sean and Stephen

I stayed in Brisbane for the first week of December 2020, and chose the kookaburra inn on Phillips street. This is a great central location, close to the city and public transport, and close enough to walk a reasonable number of places without being inconvenient. With the extended daylight in December, I was generally out and about by 6am, returning after 7pm. The room I stayed in was clean, had a sink and great air conditioning, and the shared bathrooms were never an issue. The other guests were quiet out of hours, and although I didn’t use them, the kitchen facilities looked more than suitable. I’d stay here again.

I had a great four night stay here at the end of my Australia trip. The owner, Sean, was very friendly and there to welcome me and give me a tour of the accommodation on my arrival. He also gave me a map and lots of useful information and tips for my stay in Brisbane. The location was great - easy walk to Story Bridge and the ferry terminal to take you to Southbank etc. Also a Woolworths just down the hill which was very handy. My room was clean, quiet and comfortable with good air con and a mini fridge which was useful. There was free tea/coffee to make in the kitchen. The shared bathroom was also clean and just down from my room so I didn't have to walk outside or anything to use it. I never had to wait to use the toilet or shower as my floor was very quiet and can't have had many guests at the time I was there. It was really good having the laundry facilities so I could do some washing and drying before I packed to go home. I did it in the evening and it was rather dark at this point. To access the laundry area I had to walk past some rooms and there was one male guest there hanging out by his door and when I walked back up the steps to go back to my room he stood under the staircase and stared at me, which unnerved me a bit and made me feel a bit apprehensive about walking back out to collect my clothes (the actual laundry area was lit up, however). I guess in future I would ensure to do my laundry in daylight to feel safer. Overall though I felt very safe and secure and my bedroom had a lock and chain etc. I would definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Brisbane.

The place is very peaceful and quiet. It’s situated very central of Brisbane, and most things can be reached by foot. We had a double room for two nights. It was nice to have big double bed, clean sheets and towels. The bedroom was air conditioned, and we had our own fridge.
The host was very kind and helpful, and we got a quick respond when we needed any assistance. The rooms are a bit old fashioned, and a refresh of the kitchen area would be nice. We can recommend Kookaburra Inn if you want a peaceful and quiet place close to the center.

The owner was very kind at the inn.
The hairdryer I brought broke, but the owner lent me a hairdryer.
There are supermarkets, convenience stores, and other necessities nearby, making it easy to get what you need. The station is also not far away, making it convenient to go out from here.

I chose this hotel based on its location in the city. And never regretted it. The hotel is located in the quiet center, which is very convenient. Comfortable rooms, Clean and tidy. There is everything for a comfortable stay. Given the cost of renting in Australia, in my opinion, this is the best option in terms of price and quality. But most of all I want to note the friendliness of the staff. Sean and Steven helped us in everything, for which special thanks to them. If I ever visit Brisbane again, I will definitely stay here.

I left very early, so no breakfast. Sorry.
Hi,
I just found out that this Q was not responded.
It's been such a longtime...
Kookaburra Inn is now under a new management, and I'll do my best to keep follow all the requests, and also will make our guest happy!
Thank you!
Bonjour Alizee.
This is no problem. Just book the room as if you are coming in during the day, then the room will be available all night for your arrival. Just email the Kookaburra Inn after you have booked and let them know you will be late. They will leave instructions on where to find the key (it changes all the time). Have a great trip to Brisbane! Regards Jayne Kookaburra Inn
