Detailed Reviews
Pros - generally clean, well appointed room, linen clean and fresh, bed comfy, staff very friendly and helpful, park well set out
Cons - only 2 out of 6 guest washing machines working over the week - the park was totally full so this was an issue, the mould in the shower in my cabin was disgusting.
Given that people coming into Darwin may have been on the road, in remote areas, for some time, surely adequate washing facilities is a must. They either need a contract with a local service company to provide repairs within 24 hours, or they need a back up of machines so they can swap out broken machines while they are being repaired. Given, at this stage, they are fully booked until the end of August, I think they can afford to find a solution.

The grounds were well maintained and had a tropical feel. Our cabin was lovely and clean and in a nice shady spot. We had an outdoor setting for drinks and nibbles which was great in the afternoon. There is some aircraft noise but you don't hear it during the night and no road noise.
This was a standard 1 bedroom cabin and what we expected. There was a dining room table and a lounge. Kitchen had all that we needed. The bathroom was a good size. The bedroom didn't really have a lot of storage and we had to keep one of our bags in the lounge room. The bed was okay, but nearing the end of its life. This cabin would benefit from a hook rack in the lounge for back packs and keys etc.
A nice spot to stay, especially if you are going to Hidden Valley Race Track.

Our cabin was clean with an excellent modern bathroom and comfortable bed. There was a double hot plate and microwave with sufficient cooking utensils and pans to make a simple meal. We found the deck at the front very useful.
There were washing machines available for guests for a charge.
Our cabin was surrounded buy vegetation, which was great, but the downside was that our cabin was next to the Stuart Highway and very close to both the civilian and RAA airfields. The noise during the day from about 8:30 am until about 5 pm of fighter jets flying low overhead was deafening.
We could not get WiFi and were told by staff that they were working on it, but it was not available for the whole 5 days of our stay.
The caravan/cabin park is quite a long way from the CBD.

Suits people with caravan parks or cars but also people who flew into Darwin. Use 1 bus into town each hour - Bus No 8 but must be back by last bus at 9.20pm, or use ride share after this.
Clean and tidy cabins with air con and fan. Good to air in afternoon with the breeze that comes through.
I was worried about being close to airport but the plane noises were not a concern, but close to RAF base which unexpected to know that fighter jet planes go overhead in the day time. Nil overnight issues.
Suits singles, families and couples.
No local shops for groceries but again, you can travel by bus to the local shops 15 mins away. Cabins have cooking facilities

I can see that staff are trying hard to please and that the buildings are all being maintained to a reasonable standard, but for such a tropical location we were very disappointed at how dead all the grass is & how many sites are just gravel. While the pool areas are quite tropical I don’t think you can claim that the sites are at all. The tree cover/ shade was minimal. The toilet blocks have heaps of amenities, but like most places it was a struggle to get near a washing machine.
Overall the worst part was the constant flyovers by the military jets, which are ridiculously loud. On day one it was a bit exciting & similar to a Top Gun movie set, but after the first couple of days the novelty definitely wears off & it just becomes annoying. They are so bad that you can’t hear anything at all other than the jet engines when they pass over & then they leave you with your ears ringing after several takeoffs in close proximity. They were even flying quite late into the night most nights. I realise that Discovery parks have no control over RAAF activities, but there is no mention of it on the website anywhere when booking & the no refund after checkin policy is the only reason we didn’t cut & run after a couple of days. I would definitely recommend that you don’t stay here if there is any suggestion that RAAF are running night operations.

For the cost of this park, we were disappointed. We enjoyed the pool, the showers were hot. Lots of washing machines and dryers. Be careful when you put coins in for the machines as we saw several people put the coins in foe the dryer rather than the washing machine.
However, the lighting is almost non existent and when you are at the back of the park, it doesn’t feel safe to get to the amenities during the night.
We only saw the amenities cleaned once ( I’m sure it was done more often), but I wouldn’t call it clean.
We were given the code to the boom gates, and told they weren’t working but would be fixed the next day. They still weren’t working when we left 2 weeks later. Looking at other reviews, they haven’t worked for a couple of years. It’s not a problem, but why say it will be fixed when it’s not.
It wasn’t a bad experience but for the cost, it certainly wasn’t as good as some other cheaper parks.

The park itself is closely located to the city with good bus access if you don't want to take the car.
Extremely noisy as located next to the airport and next to the showground as well as being directly in the flightpath..wish we had of known that as would have stayed somewhere quiter.
Otherwise tidy and clean.

Located out of Darwin City, it suits people with cars that can still get into town or families just wanting that caravan park experience. Fine for solos- very safe and clean. There is an hourly bus just outside the park that takes you into Darwin City. Less times on Sunday. I didn't mind the airplane noise, mostly from the local RAAF base (didn't notice any commercial planes although the Darwin Airport is also nearby). Overall, I was happy with the stay at Discovery because I came during busy Darwin Cup time and could not get an affordable hotel in town.

Loved our stay here, the park is close to everything. The groundsmen keep the park very green and tidy. Pools and gym are awesome- my only feed back would be to extend the pool and gym hours so people could use them at least during full daylight hours. I know a lot of people would like to use the gym before 9am. Otherwise it’s a fantastic park and I’d highly recommend. We will certainly be back.

Centrally located not far from anywhere. We based ourselves here for a week. Check in was super easy. The staff were lovely. Amenities were clean & fresh.
The kids loved the 2 pools & the jumpy pillow. It wasn’t until the last few days that they discovered the games room.
We found the park very dark at night with minimal street lights working, so pack a torch. The main road through the park in bitumen, but side roads are grass.
The park is super close to the airport which is convenient, however the airport runs 20 hours a day & night. So the noise is constant, great for those plane buffs, but pack your ear plugs. Overall a great park to be central for days trips in & out of Darwin.

Hi Andrew,
There is no playground at our park, but we do have 2 pools to splash around in! Also, the Botanic Gardens are only a 10 minute drive from our park and they have a pretty fantastic playground there. Let us know if you have any questions.
Kind Regards,
Discovery Parks
