Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is great. But big and full on. Great position Staff Clean. Bar and pool area also great as is the opportunity to meet people.very busy every day. Staff everywhere. Only wish a couple of silly guests respect everyone else. There is usually one bad apple so to speak.

This place is appalling. I have never in my life been to such a filthy hostel. The nightmare starts when you walk through the elevator doors, a stench like no other: urine, vomit, a farmyard, dog food, all combined, and so strong you can taste it. It didn’t get any better walking down the hallway to a roast chicken carcass smushed over the floor, shoes and rubbish everywhere, a pair of undies in a bowl?? We reach our room with the hope of some relief to find it in a similar state to the rest of the hostel. The cupboards were dirty and had previous occupants belongings in them. The mattress protectors had stains everywhere. The mattresses and pillows gave you back problems. The bathrooms were worse, again. Not cleaned, not enough toilet paper, I was told the urinal was blocked sending a stench through the whole male bathrooms. In saying all this, the location is amazing! So central. There is also a secured car park to use. The pool area is fantastic. If you’re here for a party, this is still the place to come!

Great hostel in an ideal location with lovely rooms and helpful staff. Pool area is great too, and the bar is very reasonably priced. Definitely good value for money and the best hostel I have stayed at in darwin.

My stay in this hostel was great and well priced, The facilities are are awesome especially having two pools and bar. The rooms are very spacious and had no problems with them. The staff are very helpful friendly. Being located in the middle of Mitchel street you are close to everything you need, bars, restaurants, shops and more. This is a great place and would recommend it to anyone!

I always stay here every time I come up to Darwin and it's a superb hostel. From the friendly staff to clean rooms etc -- I honestly have nothing negative to say about YHA Darwin. Thanks to all the kind and lovely Reception staff who's always there to help and make you feel welcomed. In October, I arrived really early and this reception staff checked me in asap. Also, I love that they have long term luggage storage which is free of charge! This is one of the best hostels in Australia! Thanks so much YHA Darwin!

Stayed for 2 weeks and it's been amazing. Great staff, aircon is a dream and always clean. Cutlery has to be hired so the kitchen is usually spotless. Best hostel in Darwin. I dont understand these bad reviews.

Amazing hostel located in the heart of Darwin. Amazing facilities, the laundry room perfect after doing the over night trip in Kakadu. The pool and common areas are perfect for relaxing when waiting to catch a late flight. Thank you for an amazing stay.

We stayed in the hostel for four nights, in a mixed dorm. Facilities are generally ok, beds are ok, clean, kitchen can be a bit better (stoves don't work). Staff is friendly and helpfull. Although this a very big party hostel, and I don't particularly like this type of hostel, I was happy with my stay.
