Mindil Beach Casino Resort boasts a location that many guests appreciate for its proximity to attractions and scenic ocean vistas. However, some travelers express disappointment over the perceived lack of value, citing outdated rooms and unexpected additional costs.
While the infinity pool and its sunset views are often praised, opinions on room amenities and cleanliness vary. The vibrant poolside atmosphere, complete with music and DJ events, adds to the lively environment, although reviews of the service range from commendable to unsatisfactory, with inconsistencies noted in both staff demeanor and housekeeping.

We had a 2 night stay in one of the lagoon swim up rooms. Beautiful room and stunning pool, although the pool could have been cleaner. They should have been more staff at the lagoon bar and one could have been a male as there was an incident which could have been minimised if the drinks had a room number attached to the drinks ordered all the security staff are males which were called to sort the incident! . Ie Marguerite for room number ... The Chinese restaurant food was very good but a little high $$$ I really enjoyed the garlic prawns. The vue for breakfast was very good service as was dragon court the Chinese restaurant. I was annoyed by the pattern on the window at the Vue which blocked what could have been a nice view of the sea. We also had dinner at El Piato the Italian restaurant - I had steak which was expensive but very good. The staff were very good. We have been to this resort serval times over the years as we are locals and we would say it is probably the best establishment that has it all! I would certainly recommend this resort and advise locals to use the local deals for this time of the year - the wet season a nice local "home stay". The casino should work on reopening the lagoons restaurant called the Cove - the sign is still on display and we were hoping to eat there!

The high-ish rating isn’t necessarily saying that we would recommend the hotel, but there was nothing ‘wrong’ with it if you aren’t choosy about décor. Rather, it was just that the section we stayed in very much shows its ‘era’ and age. We would have stayed in a resort room rather than a hotel room had we had the option, but unfortunately the lagoon pool was under maintenance during our stay so the resort rooms were not bookable. Let’s hope we can stay in the resort section in future. That said, the one-bedroom ocean view suite in the hotel section was pretty good value for the large amount of space you get but we did feel like we’d been transported back to a 1980s business hotel. Clean, but dated. The view from the balcony was great, the bed was very comfy, the inclusion of a coffee machine was good, the receptionist was very welcoming and the delivery of an icebucket was swift! So, other than our personal dislike for the dated décor, as I say, there was nothing particularly ‘wrong’. Well, I suppose we did find one thing wrong; at least VERY annoying anyway: we left some belongings in the shower and they were discarded by housekeeping. We rang well within 24 hours of leaving, as soon as we realised, and we were told no items had been logged as found in the room, which of course is not true! We respect the fact that the hotel might discard items after a period of time but not that quickly. Also, just because the items were not, say, clothing or jewellery or mobile phones etc, we don’t think it is the hotel’s right to decide what can be tossed or considered rubbish and what should be held. The products we accidentally left behind were very specific to us and had value and have taken time to replace, so it was extremely frustrating. Also, the absurdly long-winded phone call to get to speak to anyone about the issue, after circulating around through many ‘departments’, only exacerbated the annoyance.

We spent a week at the casino hotel. We paid $450 a night for a very tired room in need of some TLC. Hasn’t been renovated in a long time. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Only one restaurant is open in the complex early in the week so dining options were very limited. Staff were friendly but service was very poor. Breakfast was very slow each morning and staff were mixing orders, forgetting orders and generally unaware of what was included in our breakfast package. Very short staffed and inexperienced. Room cleaning each day was not great. Only 2 bath towels in the room, no hand towels. Had to ask for them. Each day I had to ask for body wash and it took 3 days to get a pair of slippers!! But by far the worst was the barrage of people at the infinity pool on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays! When I asked what was going on I was told that the public have access to the pool on those days! So basically we were paying guests but were unable to use the pool because there were no seats available. It was rowdy and was crowded with young people milling around with alcohol. Not what we were expecting. Unacceptable in my opinion. On a positive note, it is in a great location with amazing sunsets that can be enjoyed whilst sitting at the infinity pool. We got the opportunity to enjoy that early in the week not the latter part of the week ☹️ Overall, it was not worth the money we outlaid. Pretty disappointing experience. Would not stay there again unless things change.

Stayed at Mindil Beach for 2 nights after staying at the Double Tree by Hilton Esplanade for previous 4 nights.
Couple in our early 30s from Melbourne.
I had always wanted to stay at Mindil Beach as it looks beautiful.
My partner and I were extremely shocked at the poor condition of the room we stayed in (Delux Beachfront)
We paid $500 a night.
The room was old and the bathroom - to be frank, shocking. It was old, run down, the toilet seat almost broken, had a shower in the bathtub, shower handles came off. I was shocked to have paid over $500 a night for such a basic room! There was nothing Delux about it except the beach view! A complete rip off and would not recommend it to anyone. The bed is on rollers and doesn’t have a bed head - when you move, the bed moves.
The morning breakfast (which was an additional $100 a night) was an absolute joke! The juice not freshly squeezed, the smashed avo tasted like smashed avocado dip and not fresh! To say it was disappointing is an understatement.
The facilities at the Infinity pool were sub par. Torn cushion covers, in the lounge area - cushions that didn’t even fit the lounges.
Staying here is an absolute waste of money.
The infinity pool & sunset at the location is AWESOME! However, because of this - it appears they are taking the piss when it comes to maintaining the rooms & are solely relying on their location to charge ridiculous prices to stay in very sub par rooms.
My recommendation to people would be to stay elsewhere, and go here for FREE for the sunset view/pool. Don’t waste your money on the accommodation - definitely not worth $500 a night.

Mindil Beach Resort Hotel was the final hotel we stayed at during our 9 week trip around Australia and New Zealand. The first room that we were allocated (Deluxe King room, Ocean View) was frankly awful for the money we paid for it-over $1000 for 2 nights. We’d stayed in 36 hotels during our stay- some high end, some mid price range and some cheaper on-the-road motel rooms and this room was definitely the worst value for money that we experienced. It was old, dark, dated and drab, there was nowhere to sit, the toiletries in the bathroom were tiny bottles- definitely not enough for 2 people, so be prepared and bring your own. After spotting the newly refurbished poolside rooms we decided to ask for an upgrade and as the resort was practically empty, with it being out of season, we were offered one of these rooms for an extra $500- no discounts offered here-even though we saw there were much cheaper ‘Black Friday’ deals being offered for the same rooms on Booking.com. In short, this new room was beautiful with lots of places to sit and we thought worth the money we had paid. As we had a late flight back to the UK, we asked if we could have a late checkout to save us waiting around in Reception or at the airport. We told yes we could as the room was free, but we would be charged an additional $30 per hour- so the charge was $90 for the 2.5 hour we requested. We politely declined as I didn’t want to give this hotel another penny of our money. On our trip we encountered the most amazing hospitality from every single hotel we stayed in- lovely people that went above and beyond to make us feel welcome in their beautiful country, but at Mindil Beach Resort, it just felt like they were trying to squeeze every penny out of you. We had a 22 hour flight ahead of us, the hotel was practically empty, the first room they gave us was dreadful and they couldn’t offer us a couple of hours extra in a room that was sitting empty. It’s just wasn’t the hospitality that we’d experienced and it left a bitter taste!

Room Tip:Book one of the newer refurbished rooms. The older ones are definitely overpriced and very outdated.

We were in a one bedroom suite here at the Casino Resort for seven nights room 212. Arriving at the casino we were met by the porter who took our bags from the car the reception staff were friendly and helpful and check in quick and easy. The lift took us up to the room which was card entry. The apartment was large with a seperate lounge dining area a huge bedroom very comfortable king bed, luxury linen with ensuite and corner spa and wonderful shower. Sliding doors opened from lounge and bedroom onto a narrow balcony with chairs and table. The apartment and balcony over looked the garden on to the ocean and to the right the lagoon pool. The views were sensational with slight sunsets. There was a small fridge in a kitchenette (no cooking facilities) a second toilet and wash basin was off the hall. The room was fabulous and suited us for our stay. We were here during covid and although NT was not restricted by it they like other states had staff shortages and there were a few of the onsite restaurants were closed at the time. The restaurants and bars the were open were very handy and lovely to dine at. There were a couple of great bars with entertainment and a large sports bar. The gaming rooms down stairs had a bit of everything. All staff were engaging and helpful. Room service was limited menu but was very handy after a big day. The resort pools were fabulous a lagoon style with beach and swim up bar and the infinity pool which had ocean views and incredible sunset viewing. Note: There was the infinity bars and beats on Saturday and Sunday when this pool is opened up to 20-30s locals 12-7 the music goes up and the drink vans on the decks open under 18 aren’t allowed to use this pool at this time. It turns into Love Island or Ibiza and it goes off. It was interesting to watch but the lagoon pool was a quieter nicer option for us at these times. Free WIFI and car parking. The location of the casino was fantastic close to everything with a good bus system that runs from out the front into town and around. It was right on the beach next door 2min walk to the famous Mindil Markets. Our suite was mid range cost accommodation the resort rooms around the lagoon pool with swim up decks were top range and fabulous if you want to splurge. The lack of cleaning staff atm due to covid meant it wasn’t running to its full potential and areas like the pool decks and room service trays weren’t getting picked up regularly. But we had an amazing experience with everything in the one spot it was fun and relaxing. We would definitely return soon. Loved Darwin and the Mindil Beach Casino Resort.

The location is fabulous, however there are 2 parts to this resort…. The beautiful one ( which we assumed we’d been booked into) and the one connected to the casino and in a totally different building to the beautiful lagoon area.. The ocean view room was extremely dated and required refurbishment. It was an interconnecting room on the first floor with a bath and shower and the door on our side didn’t lock! A chair was put in front of this connecting door. Due to the wall being paper thin we could hear all the conversations from the adjoining room. We moved to the 3 rd floor but due to the pyramid shape of the building , we forfeited our bath as the bathroom was considerably smaller. The balconies are smaller than on a cruise ship and are unusable on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12noon to 8 pm when the Infinity pool welcomes 20 and 30 year olds from out with the hotel and the base of themusic is turned up so loud that it could be heard in our bathroom with the hairdryer on! On asking reception to turn down the base of the music, I was told that it couldn’t be gaurenteed. I told him that this was not what we expected from this hotel but he informed me that this was not so much a hotel as an entertainment centre for outsiders. There is NO buffet breakfast. If you’re on a package like we were you get given either coffee/tea or orange juice, followed by a plate with 8 tiny pieces of cut fruit, a bakery basket of 2 each mini croissants, mini muffin of pastry depending on what they feel like giving you.You then get a choice of mainly cooked breakfast, mainly based on eggs but can take anything up to 20 mins to arrive. Breakfast is 7-10am and if you’re in a lagoon room you visit the same venue but you can have an alacarte breakfast . There are no bananas, Nutella, vegemite or peanut butter available at breakfast. Maid service is not every day but when you ask for it by pressing the light outside your room. This doesn’t always have the desired effect though. Only 2 of the 4 restaurants were open( the ones in the casino area) and the spa was closed also. I could not honestly recommend this hotel to anyone unless they came to the lagoon pool rooms which are considerably quieter but more expensive. We offered to pay extra for an upgrade to them but could only get it for one night. There are No photos of the exterior of the ocean view rooms that we were in.

Disappointing with a capital D. Arrived and was put in a boutique room. Stated timber shutters and marble bathroom. Can confirm no marble bathroom and no timber shutters and very outdated room. Complained and asked for a room upgrade. Moved us to another room - bigger, still outdated and old, and was told we’d have to pay another $90 per night for the room. At this point we should have moved to another hotel. The bass from the music by the pool vibrates through our room each day. The room has not been cleaned once as far as we are aware. Maybe gave fresh towels once? Husband brought it to their attention again. We declined that they come up to freshen our room as we leave tomorrow. We were fast asleep and about an hour ago we had a knock on the door… followed by someone opening it to deliver fresh towels…. Pizza by the pool is terrible… don’t waste your money… pools is about all it has going for it…

Nice hotel with plenty to do,nice casino and restaurants especially the Vue,where we had breakfast. The room was nice and clean when we arrived and well stocked up on tea and coffee. Stayed here for 3 nights 1st night aircon not working reported this to reception, engineer came to room fixed it great. 2nd day aircon not working again and also 3rd day engineer out 3 times still not working. 2nd day room not cleaned as housekeeping say there is a fault with door and cannot enter the room although we could enter room and leave no problem,so room is not cleaned no fresh towels no toilet rolls and toiletries left. Disappointed that a hotel of this calibre did not attend to room or even ask if we needed anything restocked. Housekeeping when came next day still did not stock up on toiletries or milks. Expected better with this hotel.

This is a popular, large resort with a casino. It has to be the type of thing you like in order to enjoy it. It is a very crowded and noisy hotel. The two main restaurants were booked out when we were there, so reserve in advance if you wish to dine there. We stayed overnight on two occasions. On the first occasion, our room, at about $750 a night, gave little privacy from the general pool area. The room fronted right onto the pool with large glass doors meaning that there was only glass between the people in the pool and us in our room. We asked for, on our return, a more private room. They subsequently put us in the room that was the closest possible to the general hotel beach and pool and was directly opposite the pool bar. Within the room, facilities were minimal and sometimes unacceptable including heavily stained plastic wine glasses. On our first visit, we ordered room service. We rang to tell them when we were done and that the tray was outside. They didn’t collect it. The animals sprayed duck bones and food remains everywhere. Three times we requested the tray to be collected but it didn’t happen.
