Detailed Reviews
We have just spent 10 days staying at Darwin B&B (Steele’s in Larrakeyah) and would recommend if highly. Janette, our hostess was very hospitable and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The room was spacious, breakfasts were just what we needed, the pool was most refreshing and the location is ideal - 15 minutes walk from the CBD.
We had a marvellous time.

After selecting this B&B on the internet[without any other references],I phoned Janette and immediately got an excellent impression, which continued right the way throughout our six day stay.In this well cared for establishment,We reveled in the relaxed comfort of this beautiful little spot of tropical delight. The surroundings are like a quiet suburban street, yet so close to the CBD,it would be a short walk to the center of the city.Even Mindl Beach, the casino and Cullen bay are within walking distance.Janette and Roger are outstanding hosts[ably assisted by Teresa] and they are both a fount of knowledge on all things "Territory"and are most willing to share it with all..Roger even recommended a local car hire company, which proved to be first class. We will always recall our stay at "the Steeles" with great warmth and affection [Iain& Doll]

I was drawn to the Steeles' property by other reviews that raving about their hospitality. I contacted Janette and we exchanged several e-mails. She referred me to a wonderful tour group. Turns out our dates didn't align with any availability at the B & B, but Janette just kept helping me arrange a very special trip for my family in the Darwin area. It is so heartwarming to work with people who go above and beyond just because it's the right thing to do. Thank you Janette!

Stayed in the apartment room which was clean and had good access from the front of the house. We had the place to ourselves which was very relaxing and we were able to use the pool area at any time.
Room was clean, bed comfy, fridge was stocked with basic continental breakfast provisions. However, aircon was like a jet engine in the room, the apartment itself is basic, no vanity storage in the bathroom, and appliances in the apartment were old. Generally it felt in need of upgrade.
It was a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Darwin and approx 25 mins to the waterfront. On the plus side the street it is in is very quiet.

This stay was part of our big tour of Australia. Room was small with small kitchen area and very hot when we arrived but air con finally cooled it down. Looks close to town but was extremely hot when we were there and although avid walkers it was too far in that heat so had to take the car. Breakfast of fruit, yogurt and toast on the terrace was nice although was rather warm. We were out visiting a lot so did not have time to use the small pool. Janette gave us good advice about visiting the Territory Wildlife park at Berry Springs. Just seemed to be a lack of little extras such as shampoo etc that we had come to expect from our accommodations

Response from rustynt, Owner at Darwin City Bed and Breakfast
Responded 15 Aug 2016
April is a very hot time of the year in the NT and if guests come from a cooler climate, they will feel the heat. Unfortunately we cannot control the climate. With the kitchen in the studio, guests have the option of remaining in the coolness of the studio room for breakfast. It's always wise to have a dip in the salt water swimming pool to cool down.

Steeles Bed and Breakfast (also known as Darwin B and B) is set off in a neighborhood about a 10 minute walk out from the main drag of Mitchell Street. It is an interesting walk- once you reach Mitchell you will walk past litter strewn streets where you might want to pay attention to your surroundings. It is also about a 20 minute walk to Cullen Bay. It was fine for me, but it could be far and hot for others. The rooms are not like any B and B I have stayed in. The main house is in the middle- they have added cinder block rooms to the side yards for the guests. The rooms are small- mine had no microwave, but a fridge. This far from eating- a microwave to reheat would be nice. No extras are provided - shampoo, etc. The room had a window with a view of the wall to the next building. The pool is nice, but the chairs are not comfortable. What made it tough was that the main house, where the family lives, is open to hear everything that goes on in an average family, including very loud discussions. This made a Sunday afternoon by the pool not very restful at all. I stayed a week and my room was not cleaned once- no new towels. The bed was made daily, but the bathroom had dead bugs by the time I left. Janette and Roger are very nice and tried to help out with tours- but unless you plan on touring everyday, another place might be more comfortable. Breakfast was fruit and cereal- eggs were made one day. This would be rated a 2 in the U.S. so that's what I gave it. $40 more dollars a night than my place in Cairns- Darwin is more expensive, but this was overpriced.

A lovely Bed and Breakfast, with a pool set in maintained gardens. Friendly helpful hosts Janette and Roger with delightful personalities. Within walking distance of the CBD of Darwin. My wife and I will certainly be returning to Darwin to stay there again.

Beautiful property, wonderful owners, bright clean room. We chose self serve room so we could cook. What more could you want? Great location near the city centre and airport. Also close enough for a day trip to Kakadu and Katherine Gorge.

Prior to my arrival Janette sent me so much really helpful information and she also booked the trip to Leitchfield park for me.
Although Janette was away Teresa the house sitter was just as kind and helpful. It was more like staying with friends than a Bed and Breakfast.
It was easy to walk into to town or get the bus from just around the corner.
I would definitely recommend this delightful place to those wishing to visit Darwin and have a more personal experience

My wife and I recently stayed at the Darwin B&B for 7 days. Janette and Roger were wonderful hosts and very helpful and accommodating.
The accommodation was clean, comfortable, quiet, relaxing and close to the main city attractions. The swimming pool was a welcome asset as well.
We would happily recommend this facility to our family and friends and should we have the opportunity to visit Darwin in the future will be contacting Janette and Roger to make our reservations.

G'Day there, We stayed in the Queen size room last week in April,so I am not sure of the cost of a double room. However,as a former resident of Darwin,I knew the location would be perfect for our visit and after considerable research, found Darwin B&B to be very good value for money. It is a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The owners were most helpful and welcoming and even put me wise to the most suitable hire car service for my purpose. We would definitely Stay there.were we to visit Darwin again.. Cheers!
