Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed in the apartment room which was clean and had good access from the front of the house. We had the place to ourselves which was very relaxing and we were able to use the pool area at any time. Room was clean, bed comfy, fridge was stocked with basic continental breakfast provisions. However, aircon was like a jet engine in the room, the apartment itself is basic, no vanity storage in the bathroom, and appliances in the apartment were old. Generally it felt in need of upgrade. It was a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Darwin and approx 25 mins to the waterfront. On the plus side the street it is in is very quiet.

We have just spent 10 days staying at Darwin B&B (Steele’s in Larrakeyah) and would recommend if highly. Janette, our hostess was very hospitable and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The room was spacious, breakfasts were just what we needed, the pool was most refreshing and the location is ideal - 15 minutes walk from the CBD. We had a marvellous time.

We stayed here for 4 nights in December and were treated with nothing but kindness. Janette, the lady that owns and runs the B&B couldn't have been more helpful especially when our bags didn't arrive with us and didn't show up for another couple more days. I wasn't as organised to pack spare clothes in the event that our bags didn't show up though my partner was. This left me wearing the same clothes for two days. Janette however was more than happy to wash my clothes and supply me with old clothes from her son and swimwear for us both when we visited Litchfield National Park. Thanks again Janette. With regard to the room and location, both were excellent. The B&B is located on a quiet suburban street but is within easy reach of all the amenities. For example the main area for pubs and restaurants is only a 10/15 minute walk away. Our room had a fully equipped kitchenette, air conditioning, a very comfortable bed and spacious and spotlessly clean bathroom. Janette had kindly put bread, milk, yoghurt, butter, cereals and a selection of fruit in the fridge. Everything was done to make the us feel welcome and we in turn felt very welcomed. Should you get a bit hot (and it was particularly hot when we were there), there is a small swimming pool in which to cool down in. So if you're looking for a friendly, comfortable place to stay in Darwin, then stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful property, wonderful owners, bright clean room. We chose self serve room so we could cook. What more could you want? Great location near the city centre and airport. Also close enough for a day trip to Kakadu and Katherine Gorge.

Visiting school students in Darwin usually requires early starts. I always arrive in Darwin very late at night and my hostess, Janette Steele was very welcoming. The room here is actually in a separate 'studio' arrangement across the carport from the main house. It contained a queen bed, desk/table, small fridge and had an ensuite bathroom. There is a lovely common area under cover outside the main house where breakfast is supplied. Janette explained all to me, having asked me specifically what I would like for breakfast- it was all there ready to go. I was there on Census night and Janette had arranged for me to have forms and then to submit them for me. Unfortunately for me, Janette had to rush off to Qld for family reasons, so I did not get to know her well. She seems charming. Her daughter, Jennifer, was very helpful when I made comment that the colour on the TV had become quite lurid. Her partner came to fix it. Not a great result but so much better and very quick response to my comment. The weather was very warm and I took the liberty of having a very late night swim in the pool before going to bed. God that was good! Overall: Very good, quiet, clean accommodation , close to the CBD. Great hospitality from Janette and her family. Hopefully I can see you again next year Janette.

My Wife and I stayed at this nice B&B at the start of our 5 weeks trip by car from Darwin to Perth. It is located in a quiet street just a 15 minutes walk away from Cullen Bay and also not far from downtown. We had a large and well equipped room with bathroom and toilet. In the afternoon we relaxed in and at the pool. Our hosts Janette and Richard Steele were very friendly and helpful to make our stay enjoyable. We got many useful tips what to do and to see in Darwin. Janettes delicious breakfast was moreover a good start of each day. Finally, we can recommend this B&B very much.

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay at this B& B. Located in a quiet part of town with a short walk to the main dining areas & local IGA store. The accommodation was very clean with an ensuite and a well-stocked kitchenette. We enjoyed the excellent continental breakfast served under the pergola looking out over the small pool & garden. Finally the hospitality of our hosts Janette & Roger was very impressive – nothing was too difficult

Quiet area yet close to city centre. The rooms are good size but the bed was as hard as a rock. TV kept loosing signal but Foxtel was ok. Would stay there again. Janette was a lovely host with plenty of local information.

A good location to walk to shops and restaurants but a car would enable easier travel. However, Janette was extremely kind and went out of her way to give us a lift to different locations and help us with our visit.
