I live in Darwin so know what to expect. This is a poor hotel. Booked one bedroom with sofa bed but the sofa bed (which it isn’t) doesn’t fit one child let alone 2 and wasn’t ready to go. Forgot my car booking request and they said I should have stated I needed a sofa bed. The booking was for 2 adults and 2 children and the room description clearly sets it had a sofa bed. Had plenty of cockroaches dead and alive . Location is good but that’s all it has going for it.

Stayed at the Darwin city hotel for 1 night. Not sure I would stay there again. I was in a pokey little room with a crappy bathroom. Room was hot and air con couldn't cool the room down properly as it is limited to how cool it can go. Very disappointing and uncomfortable stay. No seating or dining area as claimed in their write up.

I stayed for 1 night, checked out and did a Kakadu tour and came back for another 2 nights to explore Darwin. I was able to leave part of my luggage at the hotel while I was on tour which was appreciated. I had a massage at the spa next door and got a discount because I told them I was staying at the hotel. The room was decent and had everything I needed. And the location is excellent, right in the CBD and walking distance from Darwin Mall & Waterfront Precinct. There is a nightclub across the road (Throb) so it could be a bit noisy at night given my room was facing onto the street. There is room for Neuron E-Scooters to dock outside and I was usually able to grab a scooter whenever I needed to as this was my chosen form of transport while I was in Darwin. I would stay here again based on my experience.

The Darwin City Hotel must not be confused with the old Darwin Hotel which survived the 1942 bombing and cyclone Tracey in 1974 only to be demolished in 1999 in spite of protests by the Heritage Trust's fight. A new building replaced it. The room I had at the Darwin City Hotel was comfortable and convenient to all historic,

We think the rooms have been renovated recently. The bed was comfortable the Air Con worked well the bathroom was a bit small. It was ok for a 2 night stay. There was no breakfast avaiable in the hotel and no cafe. The hotel is in the CBD so you have to find cafe's for meals.
