Stayed 3 nights in a family room not far from the pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here despite the anticipated heat and flies. Was really impressed by the number and quality of the toiletries provided and replenished daily. Having mugs, wine glasses and tall glasses was also appreciated.
Our package included buffet breakfast and there was plenty to choose from. My only issue was on the last morning when I approached a staff member asking for another container of English breakfast teabags. The young lady provided me with one. Others were looking for teabags too!
We made maximum use of the pool which was always clean and enjoyed the comfortable lounges in the shade.
The hop on, hop off bus service was reliable and the drivers were always happy to answer any of our questions.

Spent 2 nights in at the Outback Pioneer Hotel at the end of a short visit to the Red Centre. Lodge-type room 309 was comfortable and convenient to the restaurant and swimming pool. We took advantage of a discounted offer for breakfast and also ate in the restaurant on the 1st night. We both had the "special" of T-bone steak which was disappointing so our bill was discounted. The hotel is convenient for the resort shops and for sight-seeing in the area but unfortunately everywhere was infested with flies. Hadn't experienced this on a previous visit.

We opted to stay at the Lodge, which was a standard hostel. Room and shared bathroom facilities were what you would expect. We were lucky not to have roommates in our 4-person room, as it would have been very crowded. I was relieved by the lack of creepy crawlies. Pub/kitchen area had a cool, relaxed vibe and food prices seemed reasonable. There is also a grocery store nearby. Accommodations in Uluru are scarce and expensive, and this was the least expensive option. I recommend renting a car to get around.

Based on the reviews, I expected a rustic hotel which would be great for our outback experience. Instead, the hotel was dirty with inhospitable staff.

Our first room was not clean. There was built-up grime in the bathroom and a large dead bug attached to the luggage rack. I was willing to ignore both items. Later in the evening, we realized that the toilet seal was cracked and leaking. We asked to move rooms. The staff was amendable to moving us once they came in the room to verify the problem.

The second room seemed nice enough. After I unpacked (again!) and while my husband was in the shower, I pulled back the bed sheets to find a 5 inch bloodstain. When I rang the front desk, the receptionist asked to see the problem. He apologized and said he would ask his manager what they could do for us. It was already 9:30pm and we were travelling with a child.

They offered to change the sheets, as there were no other rooms available. I argued with the manager on duty that I was no longer comfortable in our room and wanted to be moved. After quite some time, the hotel was willing to move us, only if we paid an additional $100/night to move to a more expensive property. It took another 10 minutes of arguing on the phone, and finally getting my husband involved, before they relented.

For a room that cost AU$190 per night, this is unacceptable. The resort has a monopoly on accommodations near Uluru. I'm confident that competition would allow better prices and more opportunity for travelers. The entire experience marred our trip to Uluru.

Hi romagrrl We are sorry that your stay at the Outback Pioneer Hotel did not meet expectations. We do wish to reassure you that it remains our priority to provide the best possible experience for our guests and it is therefore disappointing that we were unable to achieve it on this occasion. If a stain is noticed by our houskeeping team on the linen then we certainly would not knowingly use it and we therefore apologise that it was not noticed. We of course are always happy to replace all linen including bed liners on request and we regret that this was not a suitable option for you. I, of course understand your disappointment. We do appreciate that it is an investment to visit our destination however unfortunately the operational costs of supply chain transport to a remote resort like ours is significantly higher than that of hotels based near major cities however operating as one resort we are able to achieve economies of scale that would be unlikely to be achieved if the hotels operated independently. It may be of interest to know that twice a week, three fully loaded road trains make the 1,663-kilometre trip along the Stuart and Lasseter Highways from Adelaide to Yulara in order to supply the Resort with food and materials. We hope that you were still able to enjoy exploring the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National park and we thank you for choosing to visit Ayers Rock Resort. Kind Regards Andrew Freak General Manager Outback Pioneer Hotel & Lodge

I recently had to stay here overnight while doing some work at the airport in yulara. The staff are extremely accommodating in collecting me from the airport after their standard hours and also dropping me back early the next morning. When I first checked in there was a small maintenance issue With a loud air-conditioner however as soon as I called the front desk, Collin came out and checked the problem and promptly moved me to another room. My whole experience with this hotel was fantastic. Collin You and your staff Are what make this hotel great. Yes there are fancy places in the village but not with the outback feel the warmth of your team. Thanks again

I know expect to pay a bit more & I know remote outback places rip you off a bit with takeaway beer but the most I paid was $90 for a 30 block of VB cans in Coen, FNQ on the way to Cape York.
Outback Pioneer Hotel & Lodge at Yulara Resort, the only place you can buy takeaway alcohol at Uluru is by far the worst.
They only sell 6 packs of 330ml bottles to take away & you're only allowed 1 a day. Iron Jack is $35 for said 6 pack.
So I just paid the equivalent of $199 for a block of 30 cans!

Three Cheese Margherita a MUST HAVE
Thank you JACOB for your awesome service (outback pioneer kitchen) a bit of mix up on my part but the pizza is fresh and the atmosphere at the outback bar is a go. Very chilled... and some live music. If you are at ayers rock/uluru head on down for a beer or a game of pool.

Booking a hotel in Uluru might burn a hole in one's wallet, and I booked with Outback Pioneer because they were the cheapest option I could find. Was discouraged at first because of its distance from the town (not too far but it is isolated from everything else,) but worked out well in the end. I enjoyed my stay! The room was always clean, and with full amenities.

Wifi reception however was a bit difficult, especially since my room was at the far end of the hotel.

Bonus: I think that the souvenir shop at the hotel has a lot more variety than the souvenir shop in town. At least, this is based on the time I was there. The souvenir shop also sells some drinks and snacks.

Booked by our tour agent in the U.K., inclusive of breakfast. When we checked in, tried to tell us breakfast was extra (cynic in me winders if this was an underhand way of generating additional income). On Production of the voucher, records supposedly updated but when we got to the breakfast service, no record - we should have been given vouchers.

Our tour info advised check in from 2pm, reception sign advised 3pm, but nearer 3.30 when we got in. Room comfortable enough but nothing special. The rest off the place felt like a back-packers place rather than something suitable for a couple.

I have reviewed the. Bough House restaurant separately but there is also a snack/pizza bar and the ability to “cook your own “ barbie, purchasing your raw meats and accompaniments again, at extortionate prices more comparable with London /Sydney restaurants.

Gorgeous room, so clean and comfortable. Beautiful toiletries, excellent shower, heavenly bed. I could go on, but in short, I couldn't fault anything. The grounds were beautiful and so well maintained, the food options were very convenient, the pool area was so relaxing in the mornings with plenty of tables/chairs and sun lounges, tho quite busy in the afternoons but always a cheerful vibe. The large open air (undercover) bar area felt very relaxed and family friendly with live music at night, seemed to be solo artists, all very talented. I didn't have any issues with noise whatsoever. Easy to get around with every accommodation option/town square/camel farm connected by free shuttle bus (20 minute loop from 1030-0030). All resort & coach staff were obviously well experienced with lost or confused travellers so made instructions very clear and spent extra time where necessary with guests whose first language wasn't English - I felt 100% safe and comfortable throughout my 5 day stay.

Dreadful! Flies during the day then mosquitoes at night. Definitely pack a fly net for exploring by day and a can of repellent for protection at night.
