Accommodation in a unique ecotent, in the splendor of the western McDonnell Ranges of central Australia. Queen size or singe beds, we have 3 tents that can accommodate 2-3 people. Each tent is fully self-contained and has en suite and kitchenette, BBQ and deck. A campfire in the evenings completes the scene.

The tents are large and equipped with a comfortable bed as well as a small kitchen and a sufficient bathroom. Hot water works great, as does the air conditioning that cools and also makes you warm. The beds have electric blankets, which is very helpful especially in winter. The owner runs the complex very lovingly and you can order dinner for barbecue, for example, which you can then prepare yourself on your terrace. She also serves wine and beer as well as other drinks. She tries to make everything possible. Particularly beautiful is the fire pit, where you can sit in the evening, barbecue marshmellows, take a dip and enjoy the wonderful starry sky. We slept excellently here and enjoyed the time there very much. It is an accommodation in the outback, in a tent, but still very comfortable. However, if you are looking for hotel facilities, this is the wrong place. When we were there at the time, there was no WiFi But we were assured that this would probably be installed soon. Anyone who values this should question this again. Otherwise fully recommended.

Booking process online easy. Accommodation a short way out of town/from airport, easy to find on google maps. The place is far enough out of town to feel “remote” but close enough to explore Alice Springs and surroundings if you have access to a car. Warm welcome given by our host. Breakfast provided in our glamping tent. The venue is conveniently licensed so you don’t need to drive back into town for wine/beer once you have arrived at your location for the night. Sitting outside on the terrace watching the colours on the rocks of the ranges change as well as seeing the birds flying past is very pleasant and relaxing. Only negative, which is completely out of control of the host, is the low temperature at night in winter. As the accommodation is a tent, being ‘inside’ does not fully protect you from the cold nights. However, there are plenty of blankets available so snuggling up is nice & cosy. Just getting out of bed in the morning is a bit brutal. I thought it was worth it though!
We stayed in this accommodation after part of the Larapinta Walk; perfect place to relax and putting our feet up but still without the masses.,

We spent two nights at Squeaky Windmill during September, a short break from what was a lengthy road trip and motel accommodation, for a bit of glamping. Tents are large and clean and the bed luxurious. Took the option of a BBQ each evening with Michelle (the owner) delivering some great barra fillets and vegetables for grilling in the supplied BBQ. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal - particularly when the back yard includes part of the Macdonell Ranges! Perfect way to while away the evening, great food, and the ever changing view as the sun goes down. Michelle, a warm and lovely host who, on request, would delight in serving up the ingredients for cauliflower steaks, perhaps with a little mancego and lemon, and other 'big smoke' concoctions. :-) Highly recommended.

The Squeaky Windmill B&B was a wonderful place to stay. Perfectly located, just outside of Alice Springs in a picturesque spot. Lots of bird life to keep us entertained, along with a lovely camp fire in the evening, set up by our hosts Michelle and Robert. The tents are beautifully appointed and given we had unexpected rainy weather which brought a chill to the air, there was plenty of blankets and rugs to keep us warm. The continental breakfast was lovely and having the ability to bbq our own dinner on the little webber Q made for an easy dinner option. While we only stayed one night, I would consider staying here for a few nights while in Alice Springs rather than going to a motel.

A beautiful private retreat with the perfect outlook onto a mountain ridge. The campfire was set up for us when we returned in the evenings; and on the night we ordered the “make your own” dinner hamper the food was outstanding. Service was excellent too, tents are clean and bed very comfortable. Ideal place to stay - luxurious whilst also in nature with beautiful bird life all around. Highly recommended.

We recently returned from a 3 night stay at the wonderful Squeakywindmill B&B. The accommodation was everything we hoped for. The tents were very comfortable, well-appointed and clean. It was such a joy waking up to the birds and looking out over the trees and mountain range. Michelle, the host, worked hard to ensure her guests were comfortable and enjoying themselves. She was very professional in all her dealings with us. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone and hope to visit again in the future.

We stayed here in June in the middle of a cold snap. They are glamping tents but they were freezing. They had everything you needed in them and I can imagine in summer they would be amazing but we couldn’t get warm for three days we stayed. Beautiful views over the ranges and amazing sunsets and we ordered two hampers from Michelle who was an amazing host and very friendly. It was a good base to explore the West Macdonnell Ranges.

The most charming, luxurious stay in Alice Springs. Very comfortable beds, great coffee and sitting around the fire pit as the sun went down on those vibrant red cliffs and the stars came out was one of the most magical events for us in Central Australia. Kangaroos and an amazing variety of bird life put on a great show. We had 6 people in two tents and there was plenty of room and hot water. Dietary requirements were generously catered for in the yummy continental breakfast. Michelle exemplifies Australian hospitality at it’s very best. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

A perfectly relaxing private retreat with a stunning outlook onto the East Macdonnell Ranges. Michelle is a perfect host and set a campfire up for us when we returned in the evenings. Glamping tents are clean and bed extremely comfortable and warm. Everything you need is there. Lovely bathroom & kitchen with all the little extras. We made our own barbecue both nights and enjoyed the ever changing colours of the rock face. Ideal place to stay in Alice - luxurious, rustic chic, whilst also in nature with beautiful bird life and magic views all around. Highly recommended.

We recently stayed 3 nights at these fantastic Glamping Tents. They were the highlight of our trip to Central Australia. They were so comfortable, very clean with everything you would need. It was great waking up in the morning to the lovely mountain views and also sitting on our porch after being out sightseeing all day with a glass of vino! There were the most comfortable and soft bathrobes to use. Michelle our just was very helpful from having to change our booking a couple of times due to Covid, making sure we were happy with our accommodation. Would definitely recommend Squeakywindmill and if back in NT again would definitely stay there again.
