First booking for the year. Had the place to all to our own. The dog is my new friend and the donkey loves a head scratch. Campground is probably the prettiest I’ve seen tbh for that rustic feel. Deck is amazing and the pool was awesome. Had a good yarn to the owner, obvious that she cares. The couple with her helping on site were lovely. Only issue is I didn’t book a second night.

The food was absolutely excellent! And very nice staff. Only couple issues we had at all were ants in the bath house but that’s to be expected with the experience. Also, the room was very hot when we got there and took a while to cool down, again to be expected with the experience. Overall great stay.

We stayed in the Film Set as a family in which there were 7 of us camping. We were emailed that it would cost $35 per adult and $25 per child back in June or July. On checkin we were told it is $35 per person regardless of adult or child. We paid our $245 per night to stay in Film Set Camping with power 4 night stay. The two spanish gentlemen told us we could camp wherever we wanted. The reception area was very dirty which I definitely expected dusty but look like it hadn't been wiped down or swept in days. There we old limes on the bench that must of been used for drinks and the board was filthy with dirt and a filthy knife. The camp area was disappointing. Rubbish on the ground and was difficult to find the power and unsure if were suppose to use where we were. The female bathroom had half full rubbish bins and smelt like fermenting urine (on inspection there was a toilet that was not flushing). The basin had old toothpaste spit in it and the shower contained old soap and empty shampoo and conditioner container from the last campers. Before setting up camp we went straight back up to reception and had to wait for the men to come out.. We informed of the unclean bathroom and rubbish laying around and they apologised and one gentle man went down to pickup rubbish. We were told they were busy and hadn't time to clean them. We further asked about the email stating about the cost of children pernight they said they would talk to their boss. We presumed the bathrooms would of been cleaned the next morning but on our arrival back from being out for the day there were not. We asked to speak to the owner. Upon speaking to the owner Nicole - we were told there are over heads to cover and it cost money to feed animals for our kids to enjoy. (we saw a goat, donkey and poddy calf in an enclosure near reception ). Nicole further mentioned that our childen would probably take longer in a shower than most and it cost money to pump water. Also that we had a lovely resort pool to enjoy. (the pool had wipes or something in bottom of it) I come from a station in QLD and understand these issues and hence respect water usage. We were only asking for the bathroom to be cleaned and rubbished emptied. I said to Nicole i have photo evidence but Nicole was not interested and stated perhaps we should talk to the staff and not take photos. We had done this prior to calling her with no resolution. We were offerred our first night free and to stay the remainder nights at the cost that was originally quoted on the email. We were told we would get a refund. We did another day of activities around Alice the following day. I arrival back the bathroom had not been cleaned and rubbish not emptied. Fed up with the situation I cleaned it all myself. I went back up to reception and asked what the go was. I was told by the Spanish men that they couldn't see what the issue was and that they only empty bins once a week. We fixed the toilet and cleaned it as we couldn't handle the smell. Refund had not been done and gentlemen did not know about it.. I had a email from Nicole regarding the fund and showed Enquie this who then stated "I don't know how to do a refund". I showed him to ensure I got the money back. Multiple Emails to the Nicole who was currently on holidays in NSW. For $215 a night (this was the amount were originally quoted) all we wanted were the bathrooms cleaned of previous camper spit and a fermenting toilet cleaned. Please be aware this is the camping area only in the Film Set as I cannot comment on the cabins. Photo evidence below of the mess .. We were asked in an email to please not post a negative review or anything defamatory!!

We had been very much looking forward to stay at Ooraminna, as we had seen lovely photos on the website and on Facebook depicting great looking lunches and plenty of atmosphere, however, we were very disappointed by the poor hospitality, service and total lack of any vibe at all. Our greeting was woeful. We were greeted by a young backpacker who informed us incorrectly that we had not paid. We showed proof and then were given the keys without any information about the property, except that there was no chef. As the property is remote, we were relying on dining at the property and the website displayed pictures of lovely looking dining experiences. The young backpackers did their best, but to pay $100 for one pork chop, lettuce, tomato and onion for two is ridiculous. This was the first night of our 50th birthday celebration and I could have cooked something much better than a pork chop! The bar and grill was all closed up for most of the day, so we couldn’t even sit and have a drink on the nice balcony. When it finally opened up, there was extremely limited range of alcohol and an $8 bottle cost $55. The cost wasn’t really the problem, it was the total absence of hospitality at a very remote place. The station itself is pretty, the bed comfortable, but the spartan utensils all need a good wash. We wondered why the place had been left in the hands of two very young men who had been their six weeks. Needless to say, it left a bad taste in my mouth, especially given that it was quite expensive. Promised so much but delivered nothing. We had a much nicer experience in the cheap hotel in town the next night.

We paid for 2 nights glamping (the minimum). We stayed for 1. There was so much light in the tent that I couldn’t sleep. 3 hours after we arrived I asked about a communal kitchen and wood for the fire pit. I was told there were no common camping facilities and no firewood. After dinner I paid $45 for a single crepe and a glass of wine. The entertainment included the story of Horrie the Wog Dog. For those too young to know, WOG is a slur on Egyptians and Arabs. The owners must have known about this beforehand. If you don’t have wood, and camping gear and you need darkness to sleep, rent a cabin. Don’t go glamping.

We stayed in the tin and timber cottages and really enjoyed our stay: - Good food served for dinner at a very reasonable prices. - Beautiful landscape - a nearby billabong, 20-minute walk to an amazing lookout on top of the hill, perfect for sunrise/sunset - Excellent shower and bath (although hot water was out in one of the cottages when we stayed - not a problem, as we shared the other bathroom and they did act promptly to get the plumber in) - Reverse cycle AC heated effectively (it was about 5 degrees overnight) - Firepits were an absolute highlight and one of the staff very helpful in getting us some logs to burn - Unbelievable night sky - you won't see anything like this almost anywhere else - Convenient to Alice Springs and a good base for expeditions in the area Other things: - The cottages need a good clean. The bedsheets were clean but the throw blankets had animal hair on them and clearly had not been freshly laundered. The windowsills and other surfaces were covered in dust - Simple crockery and kettle/microwave/sandwich toaster provided but everything needed a good clean, as did the cupboard it was in. Bits were missing (eg only one wine glass) and there were no sponges, clothes, teatowels etc provided to wipe things up afterwards). - Nothing majorly wrong but the cottages have clearly been unloved for quite a while and it would only take a little care to make big improvements to the look and feel - If you are coming after a few days of rain, be very careful about getting down the driveway in a 2WD. We did make it but it would have been touch and go a day or two earlier when the rains were fresh and heavy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at Ooraminna. The rooms were well appointed, air conditioned, with comfy beds. We enjoyed relaxing on our verandah, some time at the nearby lookout and many swims in the new pool. The main homestead, bar, bistro and pool are also spot on. The staff are welcoming and accomodating. Highly recommend a stay at Ooraminna.

What a magical hidden gem this place is!! The family who runs the homestead are lovely and made us feel right at home. Stay up to see the stars litter the sky and give their friendly dog Scruffy a pat as you sit down to enjoy a meal (we had tapas, dinner and breakfast over the course our one night stay), all delicious and generous portions. The log cabin was like stepping back in time; pop the fans on and you'll sleep soundly. Pool was a highlight. Thank you Nicola and family for a relaxing and charming stay.

Nothing short of exceptional! The property is stunning, the owners were warm and hospitable, the food was delicious and the cabin had a comfortable bed, air conditioning and all the amenities you could need! Couldn’t recommend the station enough for an authentic outback station experience with the comforts and thoughtful touches you’d expect. We will return again one day!
