We stayed in 1 of the bush tents for 2 nights, which was adequate, however I thought it was expensive for what you received i.e. the tent was just big enough for 2 single beds & our meagre luggage + it was shared facilities which were just okay $235 pn. The facilities could have been cleaner.

The following 2 nights we stayed in Yulara at The Lost Camel where the price $250 pn & included a spacious room, AC + ensuite etc. A price difference between the 2 of $15 pn.

I also thought the menu on offer was very limited, especially if you don't like burgers. My suggestion would be to have a lasagna (even frozen & re-heated) & salad or roast of the day or a bolognaise sauce & pasta on offer. The included breakfast in the morning was average too. My brother-in-law commented that a hot breakfast needs to be that, hot. When we were there, the mosquitoes we unbelievably bad, even in the morning inside the breakfast building. I guess that's what happens when you have rain!!

On a positive note, it was greatly appreciated that the bush tents were recently air conditioned. If it wasn't for this, I believe our 2 night stay would have been most uncomfortable. The staff were most helpful, particularly Michelle Ikin the acting Manager & Casey.

Would I stay again? Not in the Bush Tents, however if we had our own van & could cater for ourselves, most probably. We just thought it was expensive for what was provided

Thank you for your review; we appreciate your feedback. We are in the recovery mode post Covid, and have significant plans to improve our facilities and our offering. We draw our own power and water, which provides added costs for the running of our remote business, but we always try to be fair and reasonable with our pricing. We have already invested capital into our Bush Tent accommodation with the installation of new air conditioning units, and we're pleased to hear you enjoyed this new feature. We hope your stay was otherwise enjoyable.

This was a fabulous overnight stay! (at a cost of over $800 for one night but well worth it! ) - we stayed in the Escarpment Tent at Kings Creek Station. It was indeed wonderful. We were not disappointed.

The giant glamping tent was a proper elevated fixture wedged into a rockface surrounded by breezeways to private clean, well thought out alfresco amenities (kitchen, toilet, shower, dining area) overlooking a beautiful outback scene.

Even though it was not on top of the escarpment as expected, it was tucked into the rock wall on the other side of the beautiful escarpment view and very intimate.

It was a short lovely walk up the rocks or road to see the escarpment view and the sunset was as usual for the NT wonderful.

We were greeted on arrival by by Esther who was incredibly accommodating and provided us with a delicious and full tucker box to see us through dinner and breakfast and included a cheese plate to enjoy on arrival at our room with a glass of wine and a beer also provided in a well appointed minibar and a very nice choice.

We were guided to our room which was about 6km from the reception and settled into our room. Esther very carefully advised us of a low beam holding the tent awning on and warned against hitting one's head citing that "it hurts!" (This became a great source of amusement because Morgan proceeded to hit his head a number of times during the stay with the same "thunk" noise followed up by the same groan - we were both laughing!)

The hotel amenities were excellent, the bedlinen of quality and the air-conditioning did an excellent job even in the Tent! We could cook our dinner on a small gas Webber on the verandah and recline to enjoy the evening together. Nothing could have been more relaxing or romantic. Candles were on the tables, a small welcome note was on the bed.

It wasn't long before we donned our bathrobes and hotel slippers and headed for the nearby pool, a great reclining area also wedged into the rockface and very private. (nb the very pretty orange wasps also swimming in the pool wont hurt you, just swish them out with a shoe).

The surrounding paths and red dirt roads true to outback style and it had recently rained so the wildflowers were in bloom. Altogether we had a wonderful stay and commend the proprietors on their attention to detail and the lovely staff for their welcome and hospitality.

When we booked Kings Creek we were very surprised at the high premium but hoped that he experience would match up to it.

It was the highlight of the trip for me. We stayed at the Drovers Camp in elevated swags. The night was hosted by two very friendly, knowledgeable and wonderful men who entertained us with stories, games for the kids and great food! We had a fire built for us and a tour of the night sky. The view was incredible with views across the canyon and to top it off the outdoor shower and toilets had the best view ever overlooking the other side of the location.

Furthermore , it was easy to chat with Kings Creek prior to booking and they made us feel very welcome. It was an amazing experience for my family and I would highly recommend.
Thankyou!
Melanie

There are a range of accommodation types at this charming outback spot. We opted for the luxury tents and they didn’t disappoint. The tents are fully catered, air conditioned and have showers and full bathrooms.

The service could not be any better at a 5 star hotel in a capital city. A gigantic cooler chest of goodies is supplied as well as a fully stocked fridge.

The views are amazing and the tents are just lovely. The adjacent caves are lit at night and the entire place is just charming after dark.

There is even a pool.

We booked Dreamtime escarpment packages for 2 amazing nights. Having 2 of the 3 suites felt like we had our own private retreat in a perfect location. The tents are well separated and very well appointed with a great bed and air conditioning. It was nice to unzip the windows or sit on the verandah and take in the views and the serenity of the surroundings. Listening to the wildlife during the night and waking up to the most beautiful sunrise were highlights.

Food and drinks included in the package were plentiful. Freshly made salads and platters were delicious as were the barramundi and lamb cutlets we cooked on the bbq. Plenty of supplies for breakfasts and lunches too, and snacks to take on our hikes.

Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. Would highly recommend. Wish we had stayed longer.

Bush tents were minimalist but well air conditioned. Friendly staff and we found other travellers in great spirit and happy to share their experiences. If you came prepared you could make use of the bush kitchen but the 'bar/restaurant' served us well. A hearty breakfast inc in the bush tent tariff made it pretty good value.

We stayed in the Albert Namatjira tent (with ensuite) at the Mort Conway Camp for two nights and thought it was wonderful. Being December, the aircon was working overtime, but the tent (really a canvas hut) was spotlessly clean and had the amenities of a hotel room. The breakfast and dinner included in the rate were hardy (I would recommend the camel burger) and on the morning we did the Kings Canyon Rim Walk, the staff offered to prepare us a takeaway breakfast to accommodate our pre-dawn start. The accommodation is pricey, but there are not too many comparable options around Watarrka National Park and we were very happy with our choice.

Glamping - definitely! An extremely well appointed "tent" situated in the side of a remote hill (scarp) in the proximity of Kings Canyon. Located on a working cattle / camel ranch but remote from the station and well separated from the other two glamping sites, an airconditioned tent under another canvas roof and set up with outdoor bath and a shower, real toilet ( with soft close lid) and microwave, frig, coffee machine, toaster and bbq's - all that you would find at home. Additionally, access to a swimming pool just metres away. The manager meets you and leads you and your car a couple of km's into the bush. A drinks package with a wonderful range of beers and wines and a cheese platter plus a BBQ hamper of fish and steak and salad and cheesecake for dinner plus a breakfast hamper of eggs, bacon and mushrooms - wow!
Very quiet location overlooking the Aussie bush with flocks of finches as your bush companions
Really lacked nothing from this extremely well thought through package
Highly recommended

The location is magic and the bush tent we stayed in was quite comfortable but the local of ammenities in the communal kitchen is unforgivable, especially for the price, which is about what you’d pay for a deluxe hotel room.

There are no plates, cutlery, utensils or cookware provided. The excuse given is “Covid”, which is nonsense as every backpackers is providing this equipment without any problem and we know that Covid is transmitted by personal contact, not through surfaces.

A BBQ is provided, and there is meat and salad for sale, but the meat is frozen and they need 24 hours to defrost it for you. This is impractical if you only staying a couple of nights. A note on sign advising of the 24 hours notice required would be a helpful addition.

Kings Canyon is unmissable and you need to stay at least two nights but this accomodation feels a bit exploitative.

David, we are disappointed to hear this was your impression of our Bush Tent accommodation. In regards to utensils and cookware, we have camp kitchen boxes available for hire at reception and the cafe for a $50 refundable deposit (signs with this information are also displayed in our camp kitchen). The BBQ meat packs available for purchase are sold with the advice to allow a couple of hours to defrost. Please accept our apologies if there was any miscommunication.

It was our first experience of Glamping at Kings Creek Station (Mort Conway Camp) and we loved it!. Our room was lovely and warm with the air conditioner on for our arrival. The separate ensuite was beautifully clean with great water pressure in shower and the tent had its own cute balcony where we enjoyed the view and privacy. The staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful and it is a perfect base for exploring Kings Canyon. We were impressed with the dinner options and the food was fresh and tasty and delivered hot to the table. We thoroughly enjoyed our hearty breakfast in Bough Shed and it is not everywhere you can hear a gorgeous donkey braying while eating your bacon and eggs! A unique location to explore wonderful Kings Canyon - we would recommend a minimum of 2-3 days to cover all the amazing walks and the cultural experience. The Kathleen Springs walk 18 km from Kings Creek Station is a little known walk but well worth it - sealed all the way and great for low mobility. We highly recommend this location which offers great accommodation for every type of traveler.

Gidday. We did a 55 minute helicopter ride over kings canyon, it was quite good. We got picked up from our overnight quad bike camp on top of the escarpment, then they dropped us back there to ride quad back to kings creek station.. Any flight would be great l suggest middle of the day or later as we had a sunrise flight and found the morning sun caused reduced viability as your looking into the sun. so we thought a later flight would be better. the view is amazing. If your staying at Kings creek station l highly recommned the overnight quad bike tour. That was the highlight of our trip by a long shot. You not only get the ride but camp out under a zillion starts, they aslo take you to some ancient aboriginal rock art. we saw wild camels and other wild life. that was better then the helicopter. Not that helicopter was bad it was excellent. good overall view of the land.Quad bike was expensive but well worth it. It was at King Creek Station. Lassester Hwy kings Canyon. Enjoy your trip. Amazing country Leah
