Kathy and Karl’s place is a home away from home. They have thought of everything that you could need and can provide an abundance of great tips while on holiday. Thank you for having us stay in your home, it was a pleasure to meet you both.

Very well run with friendly and entertaining hosts. The place is in a green spot on East Side, within walking distance of the town with full amenities. Comfortable well equipped room and bathroom facilities. Tasty cooked breakfast.
Kathy went out of her way to provide a memorable stay. I was only there for a couple of days for a funeral or would have used the pool and said hello to the chickens.

What a terrible experience. Other guests were appalled at the way I was treated. Apparently two ways to book this accommodation. Website Kathys Bnb. Or AirBnb. Soon found out if you book on airBnb Kathy ain’t too happy as she has to wait for her money (as she told me ). Hence I am a spoken to abruptly. Told off for not waiting in her lounge for the delivery of my pizza. Room had junk and an unused bar that looked awful
The room had no atmosphere and was so far from homely. It cost me $170 for one night. The pillows were paper thin. The sheets cheap.
Breakfast was provided
I joined them ( Kathy and a couple in another room who had booked through the Kathys website ).
I was instructed by Kathy to take the breakfast items from continental breakfast. Couple were having bacon and eggs I asked about the provision of bacon and eggs to which Kathy replied ‘ you don’t get that as you booked through air bnb and I have to wait for my money ‘ !!!! Was she serious. Yes.

Further on she continued to be rude and ignore me infront of the other guests who acknowledged my concerns with her attitude.

I discussed with her on leaving only to be told I was rude and my behaviour was not acceptable. What ??!!
I had ordered the pizza and apparently that was a disruptive event
I had not sat down with the other guests on my arrival but I didn’t even know they were guests till the morning as I thought they were Kathys friends.
I had a shocking sleep and had to sms Kathy to postpone my breakfast until 7 am instead of 6 am as previously arranged That was apparently one of her concerns with me.
She was cross at me for what seemed like the simple fact I had booked through air bnb
Kathy - you need to take it off Airbnb if you don’t like their system
You also need to be mindful of how your attitude may impact on people

They've lost it a bit
It may have been good in the past but look at the pictures.
This is really no longer possible in 2023
Stains in the carpet. Has anyone been killed here? Everything is old or paintless or worn out. Or all three
I don't remember what I paid but it is always too much.
Huge regret that the travel agency booked this.
Luckily it's only a short night.
Fortunately, Karl is nice. Kathy seems a little confused.
The breakfast was so so.
They try their best but they can't do it anymore.
Who's going to tell them to retire?
The neighborhood is also a bit… well….

I can highly recommend Kathy’s place. Exceedingly laid back and welcoming, with a wealth of leaflets and information. The bed was wonderful comfortable and the pool and garden a delight.
Kathy and Karl manage that wonderful balance of being friendly and helpful and ygiving you your own space, so you staying in their home is not an imposition you don’t feel awkward, Nice touches like large bottles of toiletries which you are invited to make use of. Super pool and garden with plenty of seating in the shade for you to chill out in. A clear invitation to help yourself to tea and coffee at any time, and the best breakfast ever!

I flew in to Alice and left on the train, and Kathy offered in her confirming email to meet me at the airport and return me to the station when I left, which she did. They have a great book of photos of people who have stayed there with letters, cards and emails they have sent – all glowing talking about their stay and not surprisingly. The most welcoming of people a great example of what a B&B should be.

I go by the name of UYM2 but my real name is Wayne. I recently stayed four nights at Kathys Place (B and B) in Alice Springs The following items speak for themselves. :
1. I was picked up at the airport and taken to the b and b -at NO CHARGE.
2.Given the choice of a continental breakfast /cooked breakfast I choose BOTH each day and not charged a cent.
3.Fresh towels and a tidy made up bed were ever present
4. On 29.3.17 I had an early rise on a one day trip to Ayres Rock(Uluru). I had to leave at 6 am . Kathy got up at 5am and cooked me breakfast!! Now thats hospitality.
5. Both hosts (Kathy and Karl )were easy going -cheerful in fact. To take one example . Karl and I watched GERMAN NEWS together -even though my German is non-existent He translated it for me. His company was enjoyable. This is something that I would never watch on my own.
6.,Other guests were present during my stay-one girl on her own and two ladies travelling together. The cheery nature of the hosts pleased EVERYONE. We had breakfasts together and the conversations were by no means uninteresting. This is not the place for you if you want a lonely hotel. If you want a home away from home that makes you think about after you leave with fondness and a chuckle this is your cup of tea.

Karl met us at arrivals and was a rather gracious host. After allowing us to enter our room and drop off luggage, he drove us downtown, first to locate our van rental, then to drop us for sightseeing. Kathy provides a cooked breakfast and leaves drinks available during the day. This B&B is located in a residential area outside of the main town. Walk, drive, or car service is necessary.

The bed was rather uncomfortable. It seems they would do well to replace them. Younger folk may not be as sensitive to this issue. We, however, awoke rather crippled.

We had chosen to stay here as all of our previous accommodation on this trip had been in hotels and apartments, i.e. in a more formal environment. We had hoped to come closer to Australian daily life here and were positively surprised. Our hosts Kathy and Karl provided us with a lot of insight into the town, the outback and Australian life style.
They have a lovely garden with a covered terrace, pink parrots and a pool. There are 3 guest rooms in total so it will always have a personal atmosphere.
