I booked in advance the night before, going by previous reviews, photos and the price. I arrived at dusk. My attached photo was taken the following morning. It looked even worse when I arrived, with the addition of people sitting in the gutter and on the footpath. Given the difference between reality and the published photos, my natural assumption was that I'd been scammed. by I've haven't been given any reason since to change that opinion. When I booked it clearly said non-refundable. Now I understand why. My first (and hopefully last) bad decision on Trip Advisor. What I saw that evening made me decide to blow the money I'd paid and book in at another motel. Having booked in, I checked my email and found one from the Alice Motor Inn giving me the gate details and room number. A bit late by then. No idea why they didn't ring to give me the details, 'cos they had my number. The reality is that it may be a really good motel. I don't know and I never will, 'cos after this experience, there's no way known I'd book in there again. My recommendation is not to book in advance. Have a look first, then make your decision.

Don't bother staying at this motel. arrived and room was not made up and this was at 16.oohrs. place was a disgraceful. Key left in the key box and codes for entry which we couldn't understand. Much nicer place was found.

stayed for 2 nights in room 1. room 1 is the room that is the closest to the exit gate and the main road (undoolya road). interesting that the people staying there at the time we stayed all had 4wds. room was a big size. we had one of the family rooms, which had 4 beds and a kitchenette. the couch was absolutely atrocious. never sat on such an uncomfortable couch in my life. i couldn't stand the smell in the room as well. there are no cupboards, but there was plenty of room to store luggage. beds were a bit saggy too. the kitchen was okay. i didn't cook in the kitchen (stove looked a bit oily). the bathroom was basic. just had a shower curtain and toilet. no bath. it was clean. if you can overlook these things, the room is okay for the price that you pay. it comes with a free breakfast, which you are allowed to eat from about 5am to 9:30am (can't remember the end time). continental breakfast - bread, vegemite, jam, butter, muesli, cornflakes and weet bix. coffee and tea. long life milk. if you don't have a room with cooking facilities, guests are allowed to use the breakfast area to prepare light meals in the evening (as long as you clean up after yourself). i don't think there was a stove for you to cook, but you can do microwave food. there are cutlery and utensils and you had to vacate the area by 7:45pm if you want to use the area to eat. we used the laundry as well. it is in a shed. the shed seemed a bit dodgy, but the laundry machines worked okay (including the dryer). cost $7 to wash and dry clothes. room 1 is not a room to stay if you want to sleep in. luckily, we had to leave early. the noise from the opening of the gates and cars driving past was enough to wake you up.

We stayed here the beginning of August for a couple of nights on our way to Darwin! The motel is outdated but room was clean and comfortable! You get a free basic breakfast every morning, the city centre is about a 20 minute walk from the motel! Paige at reception was very helpful,Would stay here again!
