We figured out quickly that we could happily spend a few days at this resort. Large, greened grounds. Secure access to buildings. Plenty of day light into our room. Good bar. Great food at restaurant. Sat around pool. Feet in the cold water. Shortish walk to town.

3 star motel type hotel. Our bedroom was clean and ok but in need of some upgrading. The bathroom was very tired.
Our room had a poor view of the back of other buildings
Nice pool and terrace where flies were a bit of a nuisance
Good location less than 10 mins walk into the town centre.
We were part of a tour group of 18 people and all walked into the town for a meal on first night. Walking back to the hotel in the dark at around 9.30pm there were quite a few people hanging around (particularly around the dry river bed) obviously having had a few drinks. Everyone on our tour group chose to eat in at the hotel the next night! Good food at reasonable price although the dining room is a bit canteen like also being the buffet breakfast room.

We had booked through Virgin Velocity and due to a family crisis we had to change the booking with very little notice. Even though the booking was ‘unchangeable’ they allowed us to change it which was fantastic. We arrived late at night after a very long tour from Ayers Rock Resort via a day at Kings Canyon ( I’ll be reviewing that magical place elsewhere) and are given an accessible family room.
The bathroom did not meet our needs. When we used the shower water went everywhere, there was not enough bench space and the shower head did not stay in the holder while in use which was dangerous.
I spoke to a young lady at reception the next day and she could not have been less interested. A few hours later I spoke to a gentleman and within half an hour we were in a more suitable room. He was a credit to the Hotel.
The second room was wonderful and we were really happy. The grounds were really lovely and the restaurant and staff were fantastic. The included breakfast buffet was really good, it included eggs to order and the restaurant staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.
I would definitely stay there again, even the lobby gift shop was not over priced!!! Due to the time of year we could not use the pool but it was stunning to look at. The location is very convenient, a short walk to town and the lobby bar has a great range!🥂🍸🥃🍹🍺

Dear Lyzzee1977, Thank you for taking the time to review Mercure Alice Springs Resort, i'm so pleased you ended up in a great room that you were happy with and enjoyed all that we have to offer. I'm disappointed to hear though that you were originally met with a standard of customer service that is not acceptable to us. I will be discussing this with the relevant staff to ensure that it does not happen again, and hope to welcome you back to the resort in the future for another stay with us in the future. Warm regards, Emma Todd General Manager

This is a hotel with so much potential, BUT it is currently not reaching that potential in many ways.
The place is so disorganised and suffering from poor management.
The check-in was slow even though we were the only ones checking in.
Then you have the bar service, which was so poor and disjointed that it actually became funny.
At the pool there is a perfectly good and fully stocked bar but it was firmly closed during our stay instead if you wanted a refreshment you had to leave the pool via a gate walk around the outside of the pool in another door up a small staircase and to a bar inside which nobody ever sat at, you then had to do the return journey with any drinks you were carrying, it would have been so much more sensible and efficient to simply open the pool bar where all the guests were sitting.
Also, the bar consistently ran short or out of certain drinks, yet we could all see full stocks of them in the locked pool bar.
When we asked about the drink rationing, we were informed the manager had not opened the stock room, etc, and he was currently unavailable.
It was simply a chaotic level of service.
Then there was the pool itself it was rarely if every we saw any of the staff at the pool clearing plates or glasses. This resulted in the area being fully cluttered with such items by early afternoon.
There is no lifeguard, so be aware of that if you have kids and keep them supervised
It is simply a chotic, poorly managed hotel with staff that look totally demotivated.
Now the positive, the breakfast that can be included in your room price was actually good, decent choice of items, hot and well cooked.
Then there were the rooms, they were a good size clean and had all amenities you required including good Air conditioning.
Bathrooms were also modern with good showers.
As I said at start this hotel is well located close to the town with good potential but it is being badly let down by a lack of management and or motivated staff and a total disregard for customer service.

My colleague and I were staying here for business and had good expectations given it was a Mercure hotel. We checked in and were greeted by 2 lovely staff members, we were given our room keys and headed to our room. We both went into our rooms and I was mortified at the amount of mold that was in my shower, to the point where I took photos to go and show the reception staff. I went and saw my colleague to let her know of my discovery when she told me to come into her bathroom and found that it was covered in mold and rust. We took photos and went to reception where the staff could not apologies enough and gave us different rooms no questions asked. We then headed off to our new rooms only to be greeted by unclean surfaces, stains and marks all over the floor (just a single wipe would have got rid of most of them) stains on the bedding and everything we touched felt dirty. Given this was now 4 out of the resorts rooms that were beyond filthy we headed off to Woolworths and bough a pack of Dettol wipes to clean our own rooms. The next morning after an uncomfortable sleep due to the uncleanliness we were to the Buffet Breakfast which was horrible. The condiments were in large jars which you communally used, the food was luke warm and tastes old. I set up housekeeping to see if they actually took note of how dirty the room was by placing a bar of soap over the drain that was covered in mold. To my shock I came back to my room with the bar of soap having marks on it where they have scooped it out and placed it back on the sink for my use and did not clean the drain. They also only replace 1 towel if you use 2 (happened to both of us) and do not provide you with face washers of toilet paper (still waiting for my toilets paper) I would not recommend this hotel and I hope they speak to their cleaners who are defiantly not doing their job, every room in this resorts needs a full clean.

Staff here at the restaurant were great, very accommodating and always smiling.
They made our date night memorable, it was our anniversary and we felt really pampered. Food was good too.
Stayed in River gum rooms, must say housekeeping did a great job

Overall we were pretty happy with our Stay, the room was nice and clean & spacious. Although we were confused why there were only two towels for four of us.
The buffet breakfast was delicious.
The only negative parts were:
The gentleman on the front desk had no idea of our booking, was confused why I had paid the amount I had (got an excellent deal from wotif Breakfast and room for $150) then tried to give me a room with one bed when I had booked a room with two beds. Was Also disbelieving Of me when I said I had also paid for breakfast for the four of us the next morning. When we went to breakfast was told I had to pay for my child as he had only told them two adults. 🤦‍♀

Hopefully if we stay in the future the communication is better.

The Mercure is a good standard of accommodation in Alice Springs - beside the Todd River with the town centre, botanic gardens and some restaurant alternatives are within walking distance. Most tours or transfers to Yulara pick up here. The rooms are comfortable and although could use a refresh are in reasonable condition. The beds comfortable. The restaurant overlooking the pool is large and variety in the menu. The staff are quiet young but work to respond to needs and requests.

If you happened to be placed in a room facing Stott Terrace ie a fairly noisy main road, ask to be relocated.

If you are driving yourself, access is a bit tricky and only really possible driving east along Stott Terrace

Stayed 4 nights and not once did our room get cleaned. Had to ask for toilet paper, and had to take our own sugar, coffee, shampoo, conditioner and body wash off the tray ourselves. Took our own garbage out as well. We told reception on first 2 days that our room hadn't been cleaned , but was told many times they were understaffed and they will contact cleaners. No result. There was an alarm beeping all night. Don't know where it was coming from, but really annoying. Loud enough to keep you awake.lf you are so understaffed why open up so many rooms. Will not stay with you guys again, and will not recommend you either.

We stayed 3 x nights at Mercure in Alice Springs & enjoyed our stay here ..it’s well located & the staff are friendly & attentive ..there was a slight issue in our room & it was fixed straight away ..the same in the pool area the issue with outdoor seating was addressed straight away ..the Mr Fix it guy is great ..
The hotel is more of a motel the rooms are comfortable but bit dated ..need livening up ..coffee machine in room is great and our son loved choc chip cookies ..only thing for me is would have loved de caf coffee pods ..although there was de caf instant ..
The pool is great ..loved our night swims ..only suggestion would be to change the outdoor furniture to better quality & more comfortable chairs ..would have loved the swim up bar to be operating , like in Bali ..
Bfast buffet was good , the omelette was one of the best we have eaten ..one of the staff who was an Indian lady made me a chai which I loved ..thank you ..would be great if lattes were part of your buffet or at least one latte as part of your deal ..there was a espresso machine but the ordered ones were better but you were charged for them..
Overall the hotel is good just needs a few things to make your stay rather than good but excellent

Approx $20 each way. If you are flying a long way probably better to get a taxi as it will be hot and you will need Air Con until you become acclimatised.

There is an inviting pool, and I believe the hotel offers a spa experience off property, but nearby. Best to check with staff on hotel web site. Enjoy your trek and stay at Alice Springs.
