After a harrowing few months of being displaced due to an unfortunate flooding incident and having to stay at some questionable expensive accommodation, this place was an oasis in every sense of the word. The only apartment available for an extended period of time was the one bedroom "Bure" apartment and if I had my pick again of all four, this is the one I would choose. Accommodated all of our needs and more. From the Foxtel, dvd player to the laundry facilities and welcome wine and cheese (the good stuff too), I could not have been more thrilled after what we have been through. Once behind the secure gates, you almost feel like you are in an exotic location anywhere else in the world. The hosts were so friendly and helpful and really have thought of everything (they are lucky they they didn't find me chained to the gazebo on check out day). The structure itself is a little worn for example the gazebo from a safety point of view but aesthetically it didn't matter and all added to the charm. I cannot say enough about this inspiring place, has to be experienced to be believed and I hope I have a reason to stay again one day.…
We were upgraded to the Pond House, and it was the most delightful experience. Colin greeted us warmly, and we were supplied with a bottle of excellent wine, cheese, crackers, dips etc. The whole house is extremely well equipped, from the laundry to the garden, and the heating was superpowerful. There’s also the small luxury of olive oil, balsamic, coffee etc. The outdoor areas are lovely, though it was a bit cold to spend much time there. The highlight of course was being surrounded by artwork! We actually chose to eat in for the pleasure of the surroundings. Vatu Sanctuary is a destination in itself!
What a jewel in the Alice. If you are looking for a something different to your normal hotel room then this is it. Colin greeted us on arrival showed us into our apartment then took us on a tour of the other accommodation available here. Waiting for us on arrival was also a welcome basket with wine, different cheese, biscuits, fruit and chocolate. Also we received a nice surprise on our return from a tour another bottle of red wine and chocolates with a note wishing us a happy new year.
This place is a sumptuous feast of beauty, art, comfort, style and privacy. Yet...walking distance to town. Beautiful hamper on arrival with wine, coffee, cheese , fruit, milk etc. Self-contained comfort- views to the pool, ponds, roses, paintings, books.... I just couldn't stay anywhere else in Alice without feeling cheated after staying here.
What an interesting place to stay! Very indie! Individually designed suites with a communal pool and barbecue areas. Interesting art all around. Every facility for informal living in a quiet residential area - ideal for getting away from it all and yet within a short drive of Alice and all it's interesting attractions. You need a car though. Full of character and a bit different.
